That's my final round for the week and for the season in the bag, and managed this hole in one on the 9th. I shot -12,-5,-5 and -8 (all Pro clubs, if anyone is interested) for a final score of -30. That's me outta here. Very smart not playing next weeks crapfest of a course. Don't know what the schedulers were thinking. What is a CC season without a Doubtful course...

Just taking some time out at the end of season before I scunner myself with the tours. I'll be working on my future course which I'm sure someone will have a smart arsed comment to make about it in the future.

Very smart not playing next weeks crapfest of a course. Don't know what the schedulers were thinking. Obviously it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but I think calling it a "crapfest" is a bit much. Sure, it's plain and unattractive; there's no denying that. However, from a playability standpoint, it should provide a strong challenge. You can fire at just about every pin, but your best bet is usually to play safe by 10-15 feet and not challenge the runoff areas. But if you can position yourself well on the wide fairways, then you might have a green light to attack the flag. It's a different kind of course, and I hope it will grow on you all as the week goes on. If it doesn't, then that's ok too. I'd certainly appreciate the feedback for any future designs. Okay, I’ll provide some feedback if that’s okay? I have played the course four times now and it has not grown on me. The opposite. The main reason is that it punishes shots that should not be punished and does not reward shots that deserve to be rewarded. It is unattractive but that’s fine by me - I would prefer to play a course that provides some eye candy as well but as long as it plays nice that’s the main thing. You could argue that this course requires good course management but in my opinion it goes beyond that and actually requires refusing to go for shots just because there is a chance you will get punished beyond what is fair because of overly undulated greens, pin placements and big drop offs around lots of greens. I agree with you that calling it a crapfest is a bit much. I also like courses to provide a challenge; I actually like them better than courses that allow very low scores. But this course does not feel challenging, it feels unfair. Obviously, this is just my opinion and I could be wrong. I also appreciate the effort it takes to create a course. However, you indicated you would appreciate feedback, so I thought I would honour that request. Best wishes, Frans

Thank you very much for politely stating, in detail, what you don't like about the course. I understand why people would not like the green complexes, but I personally feel that they're just on the right side of that "fairness" line. Guess it's just a difference of opinion. Thanks again, and best of luck this week, should you choose to play.

Sorry I should have used better words this was not related to the course but I can see the complaints from the members coming in.
I apologize to you Doubtful Obelisk in no way was I insulting the course.
If it's different to some people so be it as always I will try to play my best what ever the course is..

22 hours have come and gone. Course won 3-1.
Round 1, managed -6. Putter was doubtful. Very
Round 2, had my doubts about hb messing around again on the 9th when my approach came up waaaay shorter than expected, shrugged it off and plodded on. Got to 17th tee on a pretty average -10. Went for the tight entry to the green with my 2w. Never succeeded. At least the 4th attempt stayed dry. A 10 and a missed 4 footer for bird on the last had me on -10 at the halfway point. Putter still cold
Round 3, started to doubt my sanity on continuing, came up waaaay short on 9th again, this time I looked at the replay....
This hole lead to only bogey for the round, signed for a -10. Putter dead.
Round 4, dropped a few putts finally. Closed with a -14 for -34 total. Doubtful this will be enough to avoid a strike. Expect top end of the flight to go comfortably in -50's on this one.
Enjoyed the course in spite of the bare look. Plays well, I didn't.

Played a practice round of this course yesterday - didn't play well. -6. So I came into round 1 not expecting much, yet somehow, I am extremely disappointed with -13. Was -13 through 14 (2 pars, 1 eagle), but I went par, par, bogey, birdie to finish. Stupidly put in in the water at 17. I'll look on the bright side: I never expected to better -10. If I can average -10 for the next 3 rounds I'll be happy. A solid -11 on R2. Missed 3 or 4 simple-ish putts that annoyed me but still, can't complain. Looking good for my 4th green mark. Hope I don't mess this up, trying to get to Web by the end of the season. These greens could be brutal on very fast, hoping to avoid that. Round 3 - Very Fast greens lmao. Nearly holed out for albatross on the 2nd but just rolled past. Then missed a simple 10ft eagle putt... Putting continues to be my biggest gripe with master clubs, the slightest curvature in your swing means the putt goes off line. Brutal on those 10-15ft putts you expect to make. A rough -3 front 9. More EASY putts missed on 13, 14 and 15. An extremely frustrating -8 puts me at -32 for the tournament. Should be on abut -38 but ah well, still a good score. Came out swinging on Round 4, -6 through 5... then the putter went ice cold. Thankfully it picked up again in the middle of the back 9. -12. The soft greens really helped I feel. -13 -11 -8 -12 means I'm -44 for the tournament. Definitely won't win but will get me a promotion mark. Maybe I'll get to see my name on WGO next week . As for the course - didn't look great but played fine. Bit too simplistic for my liking but nothing to complain about. Good luck everyone!

Welcome to our new player Lindsay Collins. It appears he joined two weeks ago. Went through Q-school and shot 49 under (which would have won that week). Then went out and dusted us all by 7 shots at -54 last week. Guessing we will see this for the next 4 weeks continue until he moves up to Web haha. I for one, as a middling CC-A player with no shot of winning anyway, welcome our new overlord.

First time through a season change. What does that look like and how long does it take?

I go against the common consensus here.I really enjoyed this course.Played all my rounds in one sitting and i couldnt relax all the way through. Yes i fell down into the run-offs a few times (hole 6 round 3 was a nightmare). You had to hit the right spots or you're doomed.Lets just be grateful the wind hardly existed.

Surely that means she'll be stuck here unless she makes the switch to masters?

When you get to 5 green marks you are promoted and you have to switch to master clubs. But you can get promoted using pro clubs
