R3 was -11 for me, leaving me 2nd on the Xbox leader board after 3 rounds...shocked!
Played so well, and I know I missed 2 or 3 easy birdies.
Hope this continues in R4, but very happy and hopefully good omen for next week...

16 under (back to back -8's) for the final 2 rounds using Master clubs for a consistent -32 for the tourney. Seems if I play my rounds early morning in the UK I can get away with far less tempo issues & can risk the Master clubs. Decided that will be the plan moving forward especially with the upcoming promo event.

Not quite so successful for me, putting has really cost me this week. After that first round 64 I started round 2 with a VF on approach to the first which cost me a bogey, soon followed by my 3rd stupid 3-putt of the week after I'd got back under par. Finished the round well for a battling 64 but grazed a lot of edges. Same in round 3 but at least I cut out the errors in that one.
64, 63, 63 to sit -23 thru 3. Another similar round should at least keep my promo marks intact but I'd need something very special to win one. Not going to happen this week!
Enjoying the course and the variety of set ups. That long par 5 is killing me, bogey, par, par so far. That hole is mine in round 4!

Hope this continues in R4, but very happy and hopefully good omen for next week... The putts I miss are easy ones...like 3 footers. I feel more comfortable with a 12 to 20 ft putt than I do with a curling 3 or 4 footer...especially when it's uphill and gonna move from right to left. Odd I know.

Yep, had that happen to me as well! Ended up short left even though I hit a P/P!

For a change in scenery and pace I swapped out to pro clubs for the last 2 rounds. Whacked 5 slow downs for round 3 and a solitary slow down in round 4. The rest all p/p (not counting chips). Did not really reflect in scoring though with a pair of -8's. Included 3! chip-ins in 3rd round - must be an all time record for me in tgc3 - and zip in 4th. Did make a putt from the fringe though. Never threatened to drop a shot and kept both cards bogey free. It was the 3rd time I've played 2 different club sets in the same tourney since joining cc-a and my (limited) experience so far has been that there is not much difference in the club sets scoring wise. Master clubs = will make more birdies and always have eagle chances, disaster hole is just a single bad swing away (bad tempo danger) Pro sticks = less birdies, few eagle opportunities, disaster holes, wots dat? (much longer clubs on apps) Playing enjoyment wise i'd say its like popping down to the shop to buy bread and milk - one has a choice between the frugal Korean made mosquito or an ozone layer destroying, noise polluting German or Italian made V8. They both take you from A to B in the same time due to traffic and considerate road safety driving, but hey, yolo I've personally found a 3-4 stroke turn going from Masters to Pros on most courses. Masters I average -6 to -10 on most courses...Pros I'm usually right around -10 every round with a range up to -14 on most courses(aside from the top length courses). I rarely if ever have tempo issues using Pros. Masters give me slows, fasts, very fasts, very slows almost seemingly at random. I'm pondering changing to Pros full time until I get close on promotion ticks..or just biting the bullet and buying a PS4 inorder to enjoy competing again

Yep, had that happen to me as well! Ended up short left even though I hit a P/P! Thankfully I noticed just as I was about to swing. Eventually it settled back to its original direction and I played the same shot I was lining up in the video. It was the right shot, tap in birdie Seen the wind do that many times in low wind (one of the reasons I don't like low wind speed) but never 12mph. Was it the same hole it happened to you on?

Yep, pretty sure it was the same hole, same round. Weird glitch - I don't play a ton these days, but it's the first time I've seen it happen.

My swing was all over the place on the first 9 and was lucky to escape at even par. Played much better on the back and shot -7 with a bogey!

Agree - it's almost like you shouldn't miss those, so you end up doing so!
I probably better at reading longer putts, so within a few ft for a two-putt.

See how scoring matches up and perhaps more importantly which set gives the most enjoyment. I'm glad I played 2 rounds with pros this week - received a loud and clear conformation what i'm enjoying more and I won't wonder what set to play, at least for a while Buying a PS4 is an option too Jim, keep in mind tgc2020 probably not too far off and maybe it sucks on the ps4!

I'm gonna drop to Pro for the next tourney for all 4 rounds to see if it actually makes a difference once we go live. I shoot consistently better with Pros in my practice rounds,..real time is a totally different story.

4th round done, summed up my week. Swing and tempo was pretty solid but missed 4 or 5 putts I really should have got, especially 2 eagle putts from inside 10 feet around the turn. Still, mission accomplished and pretty sure I've done enough to keep my promo marks intact quite comfortably. 60 to finish on -34, really could have been so much better. Still, I did say I'd get my own back on hole 4....

It happens to me but usually the opposite. I start -8 or even -9, then its a par party. I haven't gone into full research mode but its been happening enough that I might start next time it happens. (Looking at stroke index, comparing tempo issues, etc.) Sometimes I feel the wind does what it wants or my approach doesn't hit anywhere close to where I wanted it even with p/p. A little strange to me.
