I just set it at the apex of the break and envision making a straight putt to that point with the appropriate speed. I'm nowhere near the best putter here, but I rarely 3-putt from any distance.

I get the left right side of the cup for break, but does it make a difference if I place the arrow above the cup for uphill or below for downhill? Is there any preferred way to help with accuracy like just placing the arrow on the cup and moving either left or right for break? Thanks, just something I was wondering about if there is a way to improve my putting accuracy. yes, the arrow is where your intention to aim at. so if uphill, then move arrow past the hole, if downhill, move arrow below the hole... formula below start by moving arrow at hole... example distance - 20 feet 6in. uphill putt = distance(20 ft) + (slope(6in) * 1.5 ) + 2 = 31 ft. - so move marker past hole to 31ft downhill putt = distance(20 ft) - (slope(6in) + 2 = 16 ft - so move marker below hole to 16ft Anyone else test this math? I love the algebra to solve our putting woes but why the 1.5 multiplier on uphill and nothing on downhill? BTW not a math wiz by any means

I turned off that marker because it was so distracting seeing it move everywhere while lining up a putt. Now I use the LW chip if I need to get a closer read on the putt.

No, it's literally 100% irrelevant, but it might have a placebo effect so if you want to move it to certain distances then go ahead The new game already slows down the ball as it approaches the hole, so any minor controlling effect it might have had on TGC2 is no longer relevant. I regularly play with putting marker off and backswing length is the only thing that matters. Putting marker off still pre-sets the marker, itโs just that it is invisible and cannot be moved. The rubber banding is stronger than in TGC2. So - it does matter quite a lot where you put the marker, but the pre set is very good in TGC2019, so a move back or forward is very rarely needed. I never move the marker up or down...just left or right. and then use that as my target for both the line and the speed. i tend to think that the default (the location as to where the marker pops up from the beginning) is done for some type of reason....to maybe give you an idea of the magnitude of the slope.

I use the default location of the marker (when it comes up before the putt) as a guide for speed. I dont move it up or down (and if i need to in order to see some of the break, i return it where it was). i am banking on the assumption that the default location is information that you need to judge speed. Otherwise, I am not sure how the game determines where the default location is.
