Ok, Iv'e just come up with the idea
I'm going to try to do a "Spooky Hollow" theme.
It will be pushing on the fantasy strings. My idea is to have the course look like it came out of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. low lighting (but playable) some derelict buildings, maybe a graveyard...
I will start working on a layout in a couple of days.
What does everyone think about the idea?
Edit: Scratch that, I was drunk lol, sounded good at the time...... Just going to concentrate on a decent risk/reward style course.
Doing a nice little course set in a Woodlands area. My focus is on Risk/Reward and neatness!

Just remember Chris it doesn’t matter how good your cake looks if you accidentally use salt instead of sugar.

I like the idea Chris! Just make sure the low lighting you're planning doesn't take away from the course. Occasionally people make low light courses where you end up missing out on some of the best sculpting work because it's too dark on the ground to see any definition. I'd suggest keeping it fairly well lit but very foggy/hazy to give it the eerie feel. Good luck!

Chris you should spend less time playing rounds and more time working on your design, that'll give me a chance to maybe catch you on CC-C!
Get us some screen shots!

Should be cool! If you happen to release it on October 31st, well, that’s perfect

Ok, I have the 1st four holes laid out with minimal sculpting and no planting... (Distances shown in meters) Hole 1: A nice par 4 to start, do you lay up or try to take on the water? Hole 2: Par 5, Tour clubs can drive over the creek for a shorter 2nd shot while player clubs will need a bit of help from the wind to take it on. Laying up you can still reach the front of the green in 2 (wind depending) Hole 3: A nice little par 3, Be careful here, the ground slopes towards the water and a bunker at the front to catch anything short. Hole 4: A short par 4, a nice landing area to the left of the bunker is the safe option but those who take on the gap between bunker and trees on the right will be rewarded with an easy pitch to the green What's everyone think so far?

I’m going to need more golf balls with all those water hazards!
Looks really good so far Chris.

Here's some random update pics now that I'm planting and finishing the first few 5 holes in TGC2019. Also have 9 holes sculpted now and will hopefully be releasing a 9 hole Beta on the weekend. Let me know what you think, I always love feedback goos or bad P.S: Ignore the rock lol

Is that first picture the D4 4th hole? The bunker looks like it. That is 30-50 in front of green? Maybe consider it being a crossing hazard, since a 3w won't likely be aimed at the fairway sections to the side of the bunker. Just a thought, but hard to say without totally understanding the hole.
Like the rock'd tee box, looking good... Will look forward to beta.
Edit: Also thinking of the tee shot postcard on the par 3... Maybe move the bridge right or left as a framing device instead of in the shot line?

Thanks for the feedback Scott I really like your idea of using the bridge to frame the hole, I will steal that one lol Yeah, that 1st pic is hole 4, My idea is to make it possible to get close to the green off the tee and leave yourself a 20 meter chip. The bunker distance from the Back Tee is: Bottom Left: 248m Top Left: 264m Bottom Right: 253m Top Right: 268m (Take off 20m for the front Tee) It is possible to clear the bunker with Master Clubs on the back tee, they have a carry of 260m and an average roll out to 280m (no wind) The easier shot is to take a hybrid up the left of the fairway and leave yourself about 80-90m into the green P.S: I'm not very good at explaining things lol hope this gives you an idea of what I am going for with this hole

Sorry... Read my post, unclear, ha
By crossing hazard I meant to get rid of the small fairway on one or both sides with either more rough, bunker, etc. It would tie the bunker in more since it is not about a chance to land on either side? Edit: You could even pick the side based on how the green received balls, so it would visually hint at the better line?
Just throwing stuff out, as a designer I understand that the feedback might not work for you, but could spark another idea too.

Uh, I think get it now lol, So you mean maybe to take out the fairway beside the bunker, so if they pull/push the shot (if they go for it) they have more chance of being in trouble? Sounds good, Might make more people choose to lay up instead of being aggressive. I will have a play around with it and see what looks good.

Hi Everyone I've just published a 9 hole Beta of my course in TGC2019 It's called "The Woodlands 9 hole beta" I would really appreciate any and all feedback if you feel like giving it a play for me. Oh and seems that Eric and Andre VctryLnSprts Crazycanuck1985 are not judging in this contest, It would mean a lot to me if you two could possibly stream a round on it and give some feedback. I'm really interested in what you think of my sculpting, bunkering, sight lines and consistency. I still have a fair bit of object placement and planting left but i have done enough to get a feel for it, will complete the rest when I have all 18 hole done so it doesn't get laggy on me. Cheers, and thank you!
