Man my game is in an everlovin' funk. Raynal is ripe for the pickin' but I just can't muster much. -9 thru 36. Feel like that score doubled won't clear my strikes.
Onward!

Last week Tempo bug got me big time.... was struggling to even make the fairway anywhere. Gave up after first round. This week? Couldn’t hit it out of the cone if I wanted to.... most of the time near or at dead straight. Gonna score ok this week.

For me my tempo may have been too good...not sure if that makes sense but that is the feel I was getting at times.

I had my worst week ever last week because of crazy swing issues. Couldn't keep much in the cone and a lot of fast backswings on drives and flop shots. I really thought I had lost all ability to play the game because I never struggled so much with tempo. It makes me feel a little better to know some people were battling it as well.
The John Daly open this week was weird because I felt the wind didn't affect the ball as much as it has on other courses and my swings were generally pretty straight. Finished -15 through 2 rounds on CC-C so hoping to get rid of my demotion strikes I got last week. This course seems like it should have a lot of low scores on it so interested in seeing how the leader board looks after the first 2 rounds are done.

Same here - I wish I could find an excuse. Certainly not the game but ME. Approach shots are off and putting is suffering. NOT loving this weeks course so I might skip and just have fun in CASUALS

Fall-apart-train came into town on my final round last week so no A card for me. Started this week off with a -8, and the winds look nice for round 2. Hoping for an over all in the -30s and maybe this time make the A card stick. Good luck out there folks.
See you on the greens.
Its crazy to see the rage on these forums about "swing issues" and how it only seems to affect certain people. When I have swing issues I either put down the bong, or I get up walk around reset my posture. There is no magic or voodoo in code folks, Steam update is a myth and the code doesn't personally pick on you. Practice, patience and maybe less rage will help. 0001100011001010011001 dose not choose who to mess with, its just code.
See you on the greens.

I gotta say, I'm really sick and tired of playing courses with greens like this: There has been an epidemic of courses lately with greens that fall off on all sides. That's fine for Shinnecock and Pinehurst, but it should be the exeption, NOT the rule. No green should fall off the back when you're hitting a mid to long iron in there. That's really not a fair design. All of the pins on this course were technically legal (I helped ranger it), but greens like this are very frustrating, especially for CC players. I can't remember if this is an RCR, and if so, I'm less inclined to complain since it's probably accurate to the real course. Otherwise, let's take it easy on the upside down bowl greens eh?
Needless to say, I'm a little frustrated after 68-67-68-68 on CC-A. Especially when I shot 62 in my practice round. Grrrr

Practice round on Pin #1 -2 BLAH - Actual Round #1 -2 BLAH I suck Round #2 -6 MUCH easier pin placements. Wind is harmless My issue with yanking the ball was MY issue - not TGC. I think I need to PICK UP THE BONG - I actually play better more relaxed (unless I add in alcohol). And I agree with kcfox

Well I'm -18 after 3 rounds which I'm glad of especially after a -2 1st round. It's an interesting course with the fairways being pinched at the landing areas. My goal for the next few weeks is to solidify my position in CC-C then aim for an exemption after that.

Well my previous stays in CC-C have been quite brief which was down to playing badly or coming up when there was a hard course on the schedule. But what I've learnt is to focus on hitting the fairway from the tee even if it means clubbing down and playing it safe. Hitting bunkers with over 150 yards left will make par even harder. I don't mind too much if I hit a green side bunker as I find them easier to negotiate. I've found on this course there are a few holes where a driver is risky and dropped down as there isn't much difference in having 120 or 130 yards left.

Ended up dropping quite a bit in the last 2 rounds on this course. This is the first course where it just annoyed me to the point where I was glad for it to be over. To me this felt more like a novelty course than an actual golf course. I kept trying to tell myself that it is what it is and to not get frustrated. The problem was that by the 10th hole I was over it in R3 and sprinted to the finish. I played a few holes on the next course and it felt like golf again. I guess part of golf is to not let the little stuff like a not so desirable course (most diplomatic way I can describe it) get the better of you. That's the only take away I got from this piece of work. I dabble in 3d modeling and Arma 3 map making so I know that building courses isn't easy...but come on man.... :/ Hey Celtic Wolf do you play on PC? If so I have a discord server where me and my buddy practice at least 3 times a week. That goes for anyone for that matter. It would be fun to get a few people on comms for a 4 some, hell I may even twitch it just for fun Here is the link, all are welcome and I have a channel set up just for golf. Discord Link: discord.gg/nw8ymPThis will bring up the web version for those that don't use Discord, but will connect to my server and give you an option to DL the client. Nice thing about that, is that it recognizes the server and auto sets it up for you. The only other thing is making sure you are using the correct speaker or head phone drivers if you have multiple audio outputs, but its pretty straight forward. If anyone has any questions just PM me here and I can help you get set up. We mostly play west coast prime time on weekdays, and all hours on the weekends. -22 64 66 68 68 /shrugs See you on the greens. KC

KC Thanks for the invite but unfortunately I'm on Xbox, I think it's a good idea to give PRs a bit of an edge for players. I know what you mean about this course as I found it quite straight and angular. I don't think this course is suitable if you are struggling with your swing. I tried to focus on hitting fairways even if it meant dropping clubs and would rather have a chip onto the green than a long putt. Sometimes you just get a course that doesn't suit and the best thing is to get through it with the least amount of damage. I like to look at a bad shot as a chance to hone your bunker or rough shots. I've got into a mindset of not worrying about struggling on the front 9 as the back 9 could provide a chance to claw it back. Good luck for next week.

This really is one of the most annoying. Not fun courses I have played.

Many of the holes on this course are based on the "template" holes of C.B. MacDonald and Seth Raynor, two of the most revered course designers in all of golf. That includes, not only the playing concepts such as "biarritz" and "redan", but also the heavy use of geometric shapes.
