Not pre-2000 but Mario kart doubledash on GameCube is the best version of Mario kart ever

Been rock-geeking out to some of my old favourite n64 soundtracks recently.
Zelda, Perfect Dark, Jet Force Gemini etc...

As for fond memories of games i have one that sticks out as it was the game that started this life of gaming that is still going on 30+ years later(for good or for bad) That game was Maniac Mansion, its also how i learned english way before starting school. That whole genre of old classic adventure games is something i really wish was still a thing for kids today. (MM, zak Mckracken and almost all the lucasart games)
It might not be my all time favorite game, but its the game that had the biggest impact.
The favorite game is harder to say but pre 2000, probably FF VI
