I'm curious to know how a maxxed out TGC2 object meter behaves. I've added a poll above. Feel free to comment too. Perhaps you could give some examples of your courses that have used most if not all the meter.
I'd really like some feedback from other XB1 designers because I'm currently at about 75% and the designer is getting so slow to respond. I certainly won't be adding crowds to this course as they kill my tempo on any course.

Im terms of lag and gameplay, what matters is the amount of high-resolution or in-motion objects that appear on screen.
You can have a course where the object meter is low, but some camera angles have a dozen waterfalls, trees and their shadows, a crowd of people, and other objects that affect frame rate.
You can also have a course where the object meter is maxed, but the "expensive" objects are all behind the camera. Because they don't have to be drawn each frame, those objects don't cause frame rate issues.
What does hold (approximately) true is that the more of the meter you use, the longer it takes to load the course.

You may want to check out Old Tom's Ferry and Burrowing Owl Golf Club. Both Reeb and Canuck used almost all of the meter.

I used almost the entire meter (save about 1/2 inch maybe a bit less on my latest course....I watched Eric's twitch playing it and he had a couple fast down swings he thinks attributed to a little lag but not positive..
I am a PC player, with a mid-grade PC I built myself with no lag, but wondered how the console players show any lag on it... It has an abundance of grass and almost a full meter so I am not sure....Be interesting to see some responses here to gauge how far we as designers should do when planting

it's the multi-plant tool on console which really slows it down.It.Its so tough on console to plant separate items of grass quickly like they can do on a PC.if you use multi-plant on console Bar fills up so quick and slows console right down.Just my view its why Artic's courses on ps4 in tgc1 was so amazing really planting all that single grass must have the patience of a saint.planting single grasses.

That used to be true, but the recent changes to multi-plant have helped a lot. Multi-plant works almost like a surface now.

If you use multi-plant grass it still really slows the xbox down, its not as bad as before patch when you could not put any down, but its still not good on xbox i feel.if you put alot of multi grass down on xbox once bar goes pass half way designer really starts to slow down.Your best i feel to either place single grasses or just don't put any down till the last thing you do. Birkdale went from Full to below halfway after patch look how long it takes to delete a Bunker.just can't do anything in designer with it. xboxclips.com/Yeltzman/ed37ac12-a742-4fa1-a63f-5b34ef2447efSaying that after a nights thought that was a tgc1 course ported over to tgc2 why its so slow, new courses in TGC2 its not that slow but overall once bar gets pass half way on xbox especially with grass does start to slow down.

Told me man times that I'd reached the limit. One thing odd about mine though...a LOT of the objects are invisible. They are trees buried underground. So...there is the same data load but NOT the same graphic load.

Having some pretty good lag in the designer with my latest and we are only at 60% on xb. One large waterfall is killing me, plus a crap ton of trees, stupid mountainous forest theming. Plays ok, but like graphics (pin distance numbers) are jittery. Going to have to streamline this somewhere. Any tips from the experts on how best to "thin"... my main waterfall is going to be the place I start I am afraid.

My Augusta is about 90% full and I’ve never had a bit of lag. Lots of objects off the course itself probably helps a lot. I would not push the limits any farther, it takes ages for the meter to fill when loading the course as it is.

Thank you. Although I am bad planting, So I doubt I will ever fill the meter. My courses are pretty bland with regards to plantings. As you can see from the photo
