As noted just now in David's thread - my course is now called 'I'm a bloody idiot and mistakenly thought I'd started in Autumn theme, and only realised yesterday it's actually in Harvest so gotta redo the bloody lot!'
Eh its only a few (hundred) trees to replant!

No, no, no... just switch the theme within that project. Will have to see what it looks like once the theme is changed - probably half the trees are the ones auto generated at the start that I designed the holes between - so will probably have to plant others (in the correct theme) in their places. Either that or i remove the trees and it becomes a harvest links course hehe. (To be fair, a section of the course is already planned to be somewhat linksy anyway) My own fault - didn't re-check it when I entered initially

I didn’t even know Autumn still existed. I thought Harvest replaced it

"But Sir Nick..."
He sat on the terrace overlooking the golf course. It was another beautiful sunny Florida day - but why was he here?
The phone call was short and sweet - 'I might have a job for you - come over and see me' - not a lot of info to go on, but he was curious enough to turn up and find out - after all, you didn't turn down a guy who had won six majors when he called out of the blue. Especially when you were trying to create a new career as a course designer for yourself.
The unmistakable English accent preceeded the arrival of the famous golfer - and he got straight to the point:
'I've bought a new place - I want you to design me a championship calibre golf course'
'Excellent - I'd be honoured. Do you have anything I can see to assist in my preliminary planning?'
'Here you go - I think this is enough for you initially - I'll get everything else emailed over later on' - and Sir Nick Poulter handed over a pile of papers - including an Ordnance Survey map of the area, and the address - an estate in the beautiful Cotswolds in South West England.
The designer took a quick look at the map - and then a second look - surely that couldn't be right?
'But Sir Nick - I'm sorry - I think there is some kind of mistake here - surely the scale on this map is wrong?'
'No - it's all correct'
'But Sir Nick - there's no way I can design you a championship course on that land - it's just not possible!'

"Go and see the planner"
So my second meeting with Sir Nick had just finished - I'd worked out a way to design the course on the plot from the Google Earth images - and sold it to him as a sort of St Andrews-like concept, just more extreme, and in a parkland setting. It didn't harm my case that his beloved Arsenal had just beaten my team (West Ham), and he took great delight in rubbing that in... I still couldn't work out why he wasn't just designing it himself though - he'd created several courses around the world to great acclaim previously. Anyway - I needed to go visit my homeland and actually see the 'course' myself. Sir Nick told me the man to see was his planning consultant, a chap called Eric Nesbit. "Bloody efficient fellow" as Sir Nick told me. "If anyone knows how to get stuff done, it's him - very organised. He'll also know who the important people are, what issues you might have locally - make sure you get him onside, then he will sort out all the paperwork for you, and leave you to the course itself." So I found myself making the trip over the pond - flew into Heathrow and hired a car to take me to the West Country. The next morning I met Eric on site - and my first impression was how young he seemed - or was that how old I am getting? He told me he had worked with Sir Nick on his two other designs in the UK, and asked to see the initial plan for the course. "Wow - you actually appear to have a workable design - didn't think that was possible from the initial brief! However, I can immediately see a couple of issues with the 3rd and 12th holes - specifically the location of those greens. I guess he never told you that he and his wife have already added a couple of bits to the property since they bought it?” “Oh God – what now?” "The area you have the 3rd green on: well you know how much of an football fan he is, and how he still keeps very fit – well he does that by playing a lot of 5-a-side football – so he’s installed his own pitch, complete with grandstand and floodlights! As for the 12th – well his wife is into her horses and showjumping or eventing or something. They’ve a stables and some kind of practice jumping area over there.” I sighed – beginning to wish I’d never taken this job on….

Jeez - the designer can be an absolute arse at times - I've used the directional signs as 'tee markers' on each tee - placed them all nicely, so it says hole x on the correct hole. Just gone back in and they've all changed numbers. So deleted them all (so I thought) and replaced all of them, changed the height and direction they point to the correct ones - and got to 17 and realised I'd not deleted that one. Go back and check again - and they've bloody switched numbers again! FFS. Now fully deleted and will try and again tonight

The other glitch that I REALLY loved in making this course was pins swapping holes as well - as I've hinted, the greens are shared between holes - I moved the pins around and some ended up closer to / past the final waypoint on another hole, or closer to the line of the next tee shot - and they changed hole number to that of the other holes when trying to position them finally. Ended up having to delete every hole and redo 72 pin positions in the end, as one hole (the 5th) would just not move correctly and 3 of the 4 pins ended identical when playtesting in the designer (despite showing in the designer part as correctly positioned) Never doing shared greens again!
