2.00.861 with a bit of suspension and steering ratio tuning. Definitely another half second out there at least but couldn't put the perfect lap together. These things are like driving tanks after F1!

These things are like driving tanks after F1! 1:59.420 - managed to click around a bit semi-randomly and found a setup. I think there's a way to share them, hit me up if you want it. Looks like our sparring has sparked a little bit of interest in the leaderboard, we were back down to 3rd/4th when I booted up. I'm now back on top - but I could see from racing your ghost you've got more than just half a second in there I'll let you pick the next track/car combo.

Game still have issues with the controller on the consoles from what I have read on other forums. Its a bit better, but not finished. Some cars are unplayable even with steering wheel. Glad I didnt bought it. Cant wait for Gran Turismo, wich is a far better optimized game for controller users then Project Cars will ever be, but I do like the concept of the game...its great actually, but from a poor developer, who dont have an eye for detail. Lighting is beautifull, but as soon there is water on the track its awfull. I really like this game, but NOTgoing to buy a steering wheel...hell no. I had PC1, but brought it back to the shop...way to hard for controller users. This game is doomed with Gran Turismo comming up...at least for the PS4. Anyway...good race and enjoy.

I got this for XB1 as a birthday present and I can't drive it with a controller despite spending ages in the settings and online trying to make it driveable.
Fortunately I also have the G920 wheel but unfortunately the Force Feedback is also bugged at the moment. After gimping my FFB settings I was able to have some fun racing. There is a great driving game in there once its fixed and patched.
So my recommendation is to only buy this on XB1 if you have a wheel and even then only get it in the New Year when it is finished and on sale.
While I'm waiting I'm going to binge on Forza 7 instead.

Little late to the party here, but picked this up last night. Played around a bit in the start of the career mode, looks like a pretty cool setup for that section of the game. Still don't have a damn wheel so I'm trying to keep at it with the controller (same as in F1), but can already tell this is a different beast than F1 is. A lot of setup/tuning stuff to learn, then need to get a feel for my steering strengths, but seems like a fun game thus far.

I had debated getting this but the "people" on the internet reviews all say a controller is near impossible. I have Pcars 1, was able to manage ok. I wound up getting Forza 7 on pc to get my racing fix but still think I would like to get Pcars2. They have some tracks that are not in Forza. To be honest I never liked how the career mode was set up in 1. With everything open at the start it took the element of the "grind" out to open higher level cars. Now think it wouldn't bother me much. When I play Forza I go into single player mode free play, pick a track and set it to 10 or 20 laps full damage and fuel and just do my little endurance races. Enjoying that. So think I may enjoy the open career of Pcars now.

Enjoying that. So think I may enjoy the open career of Pcars now. I've only played the first career event, so I don't have a ton of experience with it by any means, but I wouldn't say it's unplayable. I immediately turned off all of the traction and braking assists since that's how I play F1, and I was still able to win the 1st race right off the bat. The career mode seems pretty neat. I didn't have pc1 so I can't speak to that, but it looks like you pick between a couple of different starting disciplines/categories, then you start at the lower levels to work your way through the classes. I think you can skip the lowest tier and start on tier 2, but I like the "work your way through the ranks" learning process of games so I'm starting from the bottom. One thing that I need to figure out is if it's possible to have the controller vibrate as a means for FFB, similar to F1. My fear is that it's not possible, which is less than ideal but isn't a deal breaker for me. Going to get back into it today, so if I come to the realization that the controller is unusable I'll report back.

TimB Well...unfortunately I've requested a refund. I am having huge issues getting my controller to be correctly recognized, for starters. Then, if it is, the game/steam will randomly decide my right trigger is no longer the throttle, but is some input method to pause/tab me out of the game. Ridiculously infuriating, feel like I wasted 2 hours of my life trying to get everything to work and it just didn't. Sucks, too, because the little bit of the game I played was quite fun...oh well, may try again if/when I get a wheel.

I nearly bought it after my post, but $79 on Steam I backed out. If it was a sure thing it was playable with a controller I would have went for it but not going on what I've read online, and not definitely not with what you posted. I'll have to get my fix with Forza for the time being.

Wow...sorry to hear about all the issues. I play with a controller too on PS4, and not having any of these issues. Still, I’m slow as hell compared to the guys with wheels. Definitely more setup dependent than F1. Have played setup-intensive racing sims for a long time, and this is definitely the most complex I’ve ever seen. Still struggling to get a good handle on differential settings....

I've been given some PS Store credit for Christmas and Project Cars 2 is on the sale for £17 or so, so I'm considering getting it. Now the game has been out for over a year...
What are people's experiences with it in general? What are people's experiences with it using a controller on PS4?

I’ve stopped playing, but it was good fun while it lasted. Best VR racing experience you can get atm imho, but overall a touch arcadey in its handling model. Think I’ll be moving into the new Assetto Corsa soon. Anyone downloaded that dll fix yet? I always like to install random low level code into my system from anonymous unprompted forum posters 🤔 Doyley - any chance you could get those 3 posts deleted? Clearly going to be containing some malware...
