Wait, didn't you go home? What are you doing back in Hawaii, I thought you missed the cut?
Yeah, well after my abysmal second round score of -3, I thought there was no way I would make the cut. In fact my caddy was so sure he took my clubs and headed home to Cuba while I went back to Canada.
When did you realize or find out you had made the cut with your -12?
About two days ago, there were early rumblings that -11 would be the cut line. By the time I got on the plane back to Hawaii, -12 was a sure lock mathematically. Sadly I couldn't get in touch with my Caddy. Have you ever tried to call Cuba? It is not the most easiest thing to do. When I finally got through I found my caddy had decided to quit and go into a new business with the slackened US sanctions on the country. He said he would mail back my clubs, but it could take a while. I'm expecting to get them some time next season.
So what did you do for clubs and a caddy?
Bought a new set of Taylor Mades off a local golf shop who were selling them on consignment. After playing a few practice rounds with them I found them to be quite good, tho I may have to have a few of the clubs tweaked. Sadly, the new putter has been a struggle to get used to and it really showed in my game. So many lipped putts in the 3rd round.
How did you shoot?
I managed a respectable 65 (-7). I left a lot of shots on the course mainly due to putting, but there were a few tee shots that seemed to leap off the club right or left for no reason what-so-ever. I was fortunate enough to have little to no wind that round so I was surprised aiming just left of the pin on 13 only to have it jump to the right immediately after impact. Distance was perfect but still you are putting from 20 feet instead of 2. Luckily no bogeys for this round.
Where do you stand?
Still in the mid forties. If the winds spring up, I may stay there as there are a lot of rounds above my own. My goal is to crack the top 40 after barely making the cut. It will be my first cash and since I don't have to pay the other caddy, my new friend and caddy, Paeleeo Hamuemph-anuhaha only asked for hourly pay. I may end up paying for the multiple trips!

We catch up with Fred Parrow after a solid 4th place finish in The Sony Open. Fred, you were atop the leaderboard after 3 rounds with a blazing 59 (-13), how did that feel? I honestly didn't realize I was leading at the time. I came off of round 2 with low winds and they let me keep playing so I just kept my head down and finished out. I was grooving the ball so well, everything was going well out on the course.
Your play in round 4 was just as solid holding the lead until the 17th hole. Talk us through your final 2 holes. Again, all I saw from the leaderboard was that I was 1 stroke up on my fellow competitor Roddy Mac, I figured others were ahead of us. Guess I'm saying it wasn't nerves that got me but it sure looks like I choked. On the par 3 17th after rolling off the green right, I hit a flop with too much spin leaving me a 7 footer. I read it as a standard straight putt but it broke on me for my 1st bogey in 143 holes of golf.
So that put you tied for the lead, then you go and back-to-back bogey on the 18th! Yeah I know right!?! Came up short on my approach in the bunker and muffled my flop. Another missed putt and I couldn't believe my eyes.
You must be miffed, the win was right there for you and you threw it away with 2 very uncharacteristic bogeys on the final 2 holes? Not a bit, in fact I was having a good laugh after it all. I mean sure it would have been great to win and for all I know the chance won't happen again. But there are some great takeaways, I am blessed to be playing right now and my confidence in my game is at an all time high. Roddy Mac is a fine lad, we go way back, and I give him all the credit for 4 solid rounds of play. I look forward to having more rounds against him and the others and maybe I will come out on the better side in the future. The finish makes good press and im heading home with far more bank and FedEx points than I imagined going in. Sounds like a win for all involved!
Mahalo for your time, no need to tell you to "hang loose" you got it down pat.

Robert Foyster (T46 @ -26 --- Pre 4th Round Presser)
So, you are now preparing to play your final round this evening. How does it feel to know this tournament is in your hands? Its nice to know that everyone above me has completed their rounds. I know that a course record -18 would see me Tie for 1st!
Realistically thats not going to happen though... What are your aims for the final round? Top 10 would be lovely and that would be -11 which I feel is doable. I have hit -10 many times. Realistically that is my goal however I will find it hard to be disappointed with -7 which would make top 20.
You are better than that though? So you say... -7 let me down a bit, if that had been -10 then I would be realistically looking at top 10 minimum but hey we will complete this round and go forward to next week!

You squeaked by the cut with a -14, were you concerned at any point that you may not make it to the final 2 two rounds?
I was. There's a lot of talented players on tour so I can't say that I'm surprised it was a close call for me. I think we can expect to see that cut lines right in this neighborhood moving forward though. With that in mind, I'm already headed to Tomahawk to get ready for next week.
It looked like you were striking the ball well in the final two rounds, did it feel as good as it looked?
Yea, I felt comfortable but, like many of us, burnt the edge on way too many putts. I'll be doing some extra work with the flatstick this week, especially since Tomahawk is a medium-slow green. I'll be making sure I have the adjustment for power locked down.
You're presently 28th in the tournament this week. Are you satisfied with that?
Going in, I was hoping to land somewhere in the top 25. During practice I was marking some double digit scores under par but I wasn't able to make that happen when counted during the event. But top 35 works too, I'll cash that check. I have to play better to earn anything better. I was too inconsistent for anything better this week. We'll just accept it and look forward to Tomahawk.
Speaking of next week, what do you think of Tomahawk?
I like Tomahawk. Nice course, glad to see it on the tour. I hadn't played there in a while until yesterday. It was good to get re-acquainted with one of the better user-created courses. Like i mentioned earlier, with the greens there running a tad slower than normal, I need to make I sure I adjust for that every time.

Going into round 4 you were well placed what were your thoughts.
Yeah I was 2nd and thinking just get off too a good start as I was playing well all week, birdied the 1st on the second par5 I hit a good drive then duck hooked my 3 wood 60 yards short and left behind a hill, had too make a great recovery just to scramble par.
What was the highlight off your round.
Must be the 18th parred it the first 3 rounds in round 4 I had a 12 mph wind slightly into my face struck the ball well and it stopped 4ft from the pin with a left to right putt managed to get my birdie to go 12 under for the round and 44 under for the tournament, I knew then I had a shout at winning.
That's your first tour win how do you feel.
To say I'm happy is an understatement I knew after the TOC I was playing well managed a top 10 if I kept that form going I had a small chance off winning didn't think it would happen as there are so many good players in the tour,
Are you looking forward to next week tournament.
Yes and no I have a love hate relationship with tomahawk I love it, it hates me usually shoot about -10 on it but had a practice round last week and shot a course record -17, but my approach shots are not the best on it I land in the wrong places a lot off the time and rely on my putting which I must say is usually very good.
Have you anything to say too our sponsors.
Nah only joking I want to thank them the TGCTOURS for setting up the tournaments and hope to play in many more this season also want to congratulate my fellow competitors for a very hard fought tournament, now I must go and get a well earned very large whiskey.
