Round 2 Scott Wildman 64 (-8) – 17-under after 2 rounds You amassed an impressive 10 birdies in the first round. Were you able to continue that pace? Not really. The winds really kicked up in the second round, and while I was only one shot off the first round, this one was a grind. Made a few putts to save par outside of 10 feet, which is a miracle given the new putting style I was forced to use. You’ve only missed two or three fairways in the first two rounds. How have you managed to do that given the winds and elevation changes? Back home in Canada, there was this guy, I think his name was Boyle or Boise….Doiley? Anyhow, he ran a golf tour/ notary public/ beer delivery service out of the back of his station wagon and one of the courses we played on was Pominville. It was a shady deal though because he usually won his own tournaments and took home the prize of a Texas mickey of Hpnotiq. Same prize every week. Weird. So long story short, I’m familiar with the course. Not sure whatever happened to old Soily, or whatever his name is. I noticed you were getting a little miffed halfway through your round. Was it the conditions? The course difficulty? No, it was really weird. The wind really kicked up and a whole bunch of people sat down where their ball lay and took out their mobile phones to complain to the tournament coordinator. So I had to walk up to each and every one of them and ask if they mind if I play through. Strangest sight I ever saw. I don’t mind the wind one bit myself, since I’ve got pinwheels all over my golf bag attached to generators and I sell the wind energy I collect to Sweden. Do you think you will make the cut? At this point I sit in 17th with about 90 players having started the tournament and only a handful within striking distance of my score. Even with a lot of the top players not on the board yet, it looks like I’ll be safely into the money…I mean, the weekend.

So you finished your second round and by the look on your face, it didn't go so well?
I'm befuddled, bewildered beyond belief. Shots that i have hit dozens of times on this course, with the same wind, the same yardage were suddenly flying over the pin. It was like someone spiked my scrambled eggs this morning with spinach and I was Popeye playing out there.
The winds were that bad? We have heard of gusts of over 25MPH!
That is the thing. The winds probably never topped 8 mph! I had one shot on a par three. 181 yards, down 21 feet with a 3 mph tail wind. I played a shot to go 165 yards and I flew OVER the green. Another hole 8mph tail wind with 35 yards. I executed a flop shot with a LW and aimed for 30 yards. Once again, I flew over the pin and off the green. How is this possible? Did someone switch clubs with me? Where is my caddy?
I haven't seen your caddie since you walked off #18, he said something about catching a flight to Cuba now that relations are normalizing or something...
He left? I mean a -12 probably won't make the cut, but what? I think I have been sabotaged! Why if he weren't my mother's fourth cousin on her father's side twice removed, I wouldn't have hired him in the first place! I always knew there was something suspicious about him. Anyone know where I can get a caddy, cheap? I haven't actually made any money since I haven't made a cut...
After your initial 63(-9) to follow that up with a 69(-3) has to sting. What are your future plans?
It does more than just sting. When I posted my 63, I even left a few shots on the course, I really felt I could shoot ten or eleven under, but after today my confidence is just shot. I'm thinking about taking a week or two off and trying to enter a junior tournament at my local club. Maybe I'll play an Executive Tour or not at all. This is the type of round that after you shoot you look for reasons, bad putting, bad reads, missed fairways and I have analyzed it over and over and found no real flaws in my calculations or execution. So either I have suddenly gotten a lot stronger or my caddy was up to no good. Oh Sh*t I remembered I registered for the next PGA tournament, how do I unregister?
I'm assuming you have to call them ...
Yeah I'm going to do that. If you will excuse me i have some phone calls to make...

Jeez Louise, after reading Jimgem's account I raced over to the leaderboard to see his meltdown scores. SMH. Seriously?!? Or was it round 3 and 4 that was so bloody awful?

What is going on Jim...is it the patch? Or just in a funk right now? How am I supposed to use your ghost balls if they aren't hitting fairways, greens, and 1putts?

I don't think it was the patch but the amount of putts i was missing was unreal,it wasn't like shooting through the hole or leaving short they where just skimming the hole.Plus my aproach shots where not there either i was leaving to many longish putts.Just need to knuckle down and get some serious practice in.

It's all relative to the score you typically shoot and the delta vs. your potential.

We pull aside Fred Parrow who is currently sitting in 7th place after posting a 64 and 60 to be at -20 after 2 rounds. Fred, as a rookie did you have any thought of being in this position? I'm still doing doubletakes when I see my name so high up. But that's why we play, everyone has the opportunity to surprise themselves at the start of a tournament.
Your first round may have left you worried about a cut but you lit up the course in round 2 with that 12 under, what happened out there? Crazy thing, I started round 2 in high winds but still managed to be -3 after 4 holes. Then on the 5th the horn blew. I heard a golfer ahead of me had torn up the green on the 18th and they had to stop play to fix the ruts. Ended up playing in my favor as when I resumed the winds had died down to 0-8mph, it allowed me to focus on my game. Extending my bogey-free streak to 108 holes is something I'm really proud of too.
We've heard a lot of talk about wind from other golfers, care to chime in? The lower winds gave me confidence, but honestly after the winds died down I couldn't hit a straight shot to save my life. I had five or six 15-25 foot putts that I sank...so it was my putter that allowed me to shoot that 60. Everything was dropping, including a couple side door putts that I never expected to fall in.
You are only 4 shots off the lead, what is your strategy going into the weekend? I need to get back out on the course and fast! With the wind calm and my putter on fire I need to make hay while the sun is shining!
One more question Fred...Fred? Fred? Well it appears he's already back out on the 1st teebox. Somebody get that boy a can of deodorant!
