In honor of the upcoming US Open, I have thrown together a collection of US Open venues that we have in the game (listed as "US Open History"). I've tried to only use courses that are confirmed as playable, or at least I think they are confirmed. The event is 15 rounds, and has no time limit because otherwise I have no chance of ever finishing. I've only included each venue once, and I've gone in order of most recent year hosted. Here's the lineup, with recent and notable champions:
2016 - Oakmont - D. Johnson (2007 A. Cabrera; 1994 E. Els; 1983 L. Nelson; 1973 J. Miller; 1962 J. Nicklaus; 1952 B. Hogan) 2015 - Chambers Bay - J. Spieth 2014 - Pinehurst #2 - M. Kaymer (2005 - M. Campbell; 1999 P. Stewart) 2013 - Merion East - J. Rose (1981 D. Graham; 1971 L. Trevino; 1950 B. Hogan) 2012 - The Olympic Club (Lake Course) - W. Simpson (1998 L. Janzen; 1987 S. Simpson; 1966 B. Casper) 2011 - Congressional CC - R. McIlroy (1997 - E. Els; 1964 K. Venturi) 2010 - Pebble Beach - G. McDowell (2000 - T. Woods; 1992 T. Kite; 1982 T. Watson; 1972 J. Nicklaus) 2009 - Bethpage Black - L. Glover (2002 - T. Woods) 2008 - Torrey Pines South - T. Woods 2006 - Winged Foot West - G. Ogilvy (1984 F. Zoeller; 1974 H. Irwin; 1929 B. Jones) 2001 - Southern Hills - R. Goosen (1977 H. Green; 1958 T. Bolt) 1996 - Oakland Hills South - S. Jones (1985 A. North; 1961 G. Littler; 1951 B. Hogan) 1993 - Baltusrol Lower - L. Janzen (1980 & 1967 J. Nicklaus) 1948 - Riviera CC - B. Hogan 1911 - Chicago GC - J. McDermott (1900 H. Vardon)
Needed courses for future: 2004 - Shinnecock Hills - R. Goosen (1995 C. Pavin; 1986 R. Floyd) 2003 - Olympia Fields North - J. Furyk 1991 - Hazeltine National - P. Stewart (1970 T. Jacklin) 1990 - Medinah CC #3 - H. Irwin 1989 - Oak Hill East - C. Strange (1968 L. Trevino) 1988 - The Country Club - C. Strange

Nice- I'll have to play it later. As you know, I've been working on Scioto Country Club, so hopefully you'll be able to add the 1926 US Open next year if it's done by then

Some of those older courses are fascinating, and it's a shame they can't play them anymore.

I only have 6 holes laid in, but I have done nearly no sculpting and haven't even begun on the green breaks! Plus the stone walls around the creek... Also agree that it's a shame they can't play them anymore... but that doesn't mean the Seniors can't! Really hope they come back here in a few years. Would be very cool to walk around again.

True on that. The Curtis Cup was just announced for Merion in 2022. The thought of having free reign to walk the course and not stand 8 deep behind the ropes has me seriously considering a trip to Philly that year. I went solo to the US Senior Open at Indianwood CC when I lived in that area, and it was fantastic just checking out the course and not worrying too much about crowds.

I might have to go then... I'd say such an iconic course is worth an 8 hour drive! Unfortunately I missed out on Oakmont, but hopefully they come again soon! I do think some of the classics could offer a challenge... it all depends on how they're set up. I mean, look at 2013 Merion! Not including the tie with Simpson at Olympic, the last time someone won with an over par score was 2007, and they still proved that a little 6,900 yard course could show tons of bite! Don't get me started on classic courses though... I could go ON and ON until I die about my love for some courses! So excited to see The Country Club make a return in '22!

A little more than 60 years if you discount the '51 Ryder Cup. IMO, All it usually takes is someone to get a little nostalgic and a "little" money.

Yeah If I was a trillionaire or something like that, I'd get a tournament to my backyard golf course this actually gives me an idea for a thread in the Off-Topic section... keep an eye on it!

It sucks, but I think someone would have to make it monetarily worthwhile for the USGA to go back to a place like Merion. The course is clearly up to snuff, but the USGA seems to put less value into the how the course plays and more value into how many hospitality tents it can hold.

I made it to the 2012 round this morning, at Olympic Club. Man, I forget how awesome that course is, and a very nice rendition of it in the game. The winds got up to 20 mph on the back 9, and it was an absolute beast. I could only muster a +2, which beat out my +1 at Chambers for worst round so far.

Another breezy day at Congressional. The winds been helpful at making some of these rounds very US Open-like so far. Not shown in the screenshot is a first round -3 at Oakmont.

Not shown in the screenshot is a first round -3 at Oakmont. 5 shots better than me at Congressional, I struggled, had numerous lip outs in that round too. So far I've managed -3 @ Oakmont -7 @ Chambers -6 @ Pinehurst -6 @ Merion -6 @ Olympic +1 @ Congressional
