After almost a year of messing around in the editor and creating 178 holes (scrapping 160 of them) I have finally decided to publish my first course. The premise of this work was prematurely submitted in the Invicta contest that ended several months ago. While there was a lot of solid feedback and kind words in regards to the course I did not feel that it was worthy of being put on display for public consumption, let alone a tour spot. It had potential but it just was not finished. While working on this off and on since January I have incorporated a lot of ideas I've seen in the community courses as well as the suggestions I received during the contest. My hopes is that people can see the differences between the contest course and this publish and hopefully there was some improvements made in all aspects of the design.
The Preserve at Talons Reach name comes of two different things. The "Preserve" was that I tried to make the land look as natural as possible while exposing about a billion rocks around the course. "Talons Reach" is kind of an inside cheesy family thing. We seem to see hawks all the time when we travel or are having a bad day. My wife said that those are her grandparents looking after us. So while they are gone...they are still just a "talon's reach" away. So there you have it...
The course is a par 73 and will play anywhere from 7250 to 7400 yards depending on tees. It features 3 par 3's, 11 par 4's, and 4 par 5's.. There are several holes with elevation changes that will make you think about club selection as well as exercising those risk / reward opportunities between the winding creek or the ponds/lake. The publish version has a mix of Thursday through Sunday pin selections. Green speed is presently 169 with medium firmness so while the ball will not stick like flypaper, the contours of the greens should minimize excessive rollouts. Fairways are max firm. I know the lighting is not the greatest and doesn't bring out the true features of the course from hole to hole but when I set this up originally I didn't know anything about how important that aspect was.
Hopefully you all enjoy your rounds and I would appreciate any feedback (positive or otherwise) on the publication.
karma4u If you want to snap some photos for me that would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Dave, rhino4life I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings but I can't even get on your course. I play on PS4 and three times now I've got the dreaded blue screen error which takes me out of the game and I have to start over. I find the course, no problem. It's when I actually hit the X button to tee off I wind up getting the blue screen. Really hope it can be sorted out - be a shame otherwise.

Really beautiful course! Hard to believe this is your first design, very well done. The rock-work is fantastic, especially around the clubhouse. I also really liked the stream - very natural looking, and your work on the banks is excellent. What a great-looking finishing hole. I also love the name - Talons Reach. Very cool.
Challenging, fun, and beautiful course - great job!

Thanks Greg. Glad you enjoyed it. If memory serves I think you play on PC which doesn't seem to have any issues loading or playing courses.
Ive never heard of the "bluescreen" thing before. I would really like to get whatever bogeyman problem was fixed if this happens to all ps4 guys. Took me long enough to feel good about a release and the first attempt couldn't be played. 😣

Was only going to have time for a quick 9 before I bugged off to work, so I'll have to fire it up some point later. Not sure if there's a specific glitch that would cause this or if it's just a flukey coincidence. Looks great from Karma's pics and I'm interested to see what's changed/improved from Jacob's Creek, which had a lot of potential and ended up in a brutal group in the Invicta, as I recall.

Glad to see you continued tweaking this and have finally released - very cool. I will definitely have to give this a go when I get the chance.
As to the bluescreen issue - could it be that there are just so many objects (planting, rocks, buildings/statues, etc.), that it crashes the console? I remember the Invicta version of this was decently demanding in terms of in-game FPS performance, so maybe that's the culprit? Not sure if that's even remotely true, but just a thought.

Great job Dave. Looks great and lots of fun to play. I got sucked into all your risk reward shots. Some turned out great...others well, let's just say you'll enjoy my par on the par 5 fifth if you follow my ghost. I'll enjoy my time atop the leaderboard until Clint plays it.
I know all the time you put in cause I always see you in the designer. Really paid off. Congrats man, really nice job.

too many objects. Has to be. I'm willing to bet it is just about maxed out on the meter. So its most likely the rock work, buildings and grasses. If you can Rhino, pull it back, and take a look at the meter. Delete some rocks, grasses and objects that are not in view and try and republish. Good luck!

Planting meter is roughly 75%....I'd hope this is not the case but I'm sure I could dummy things down some if this is confirmed.

The height and club can offer some backspin issues. Glad u enjoyed it.

Really nice job on this rhino4life. Hole lay out to planting to risk reward all top notch. No doubt will end up on a tour. Almost had your -9 titaneddie but couldn't putt worth a damn this morning.
For what it's worth not an issue to be had on xbox1. Hope the ps4 thing gets settled so many more can enjoy all your hard work.
