I'm going to make this short and sweet.
At 12 minutes to midnight last night I went to bed with the 10 under group in Web still in it.
I woke up this morning to find they missed the cut.
That means that somebody, with like 10 minutes to go until the deadline DECIDED to post their scores.
I won't go into the reasons why people do this because we all know what they are.
This is what I propose. Those who post their scores within the last 30 minutes of the deadline, if upon research it turns out that they actually finished their rounds hours or even days before, they should be given a DQ.
This whole watchers crap just to avoid an MC or vindictively make golfers sweat it out has to stop.

1/ They aren't breaking any rules. The deadline is the deadline, and you should never assume you're safe until after the deadline. What's next? Demanding that people post within 30 minutes of finishing?
2/ Do you really expect someone to waste valuable time trawling through leaderboards to find these people?
3/ People could have any number of reasons to wait, or they might simply have forgotten. Even if they are doing it to be "vindictive" - so what? You missed the cut because you didn't play well enough. It's that simple
Always someone else's fault isn't it?

There's something called sportsmanship that, from what I see around here, is sorely lacking. None of this affects me personally as I now make just about every cut but I don't like what I see. I think it stinks. And I made my feelings known. I have as much a right to do that as these people have a right to be, as you say, vindictive. In your own words, so what?

Sportsmanlike way to miss a cut - "oh well, just wasn't quite good enough this week, good luck to those who made it"
Unsportsmanlike way to miss a cut - "waaah waaaah waaaah I only missed out because they posted their scores late, they should be disqualified"
ps - I said "vindictive"
ie IMO I really don't think anyone posts late just to annoy you.

Well, I've said my peace and I'm done. Scott, wasn't expecting anything to be done but had to get this off my chest. You guys can now lock, delete or whatever with this thread. I won't be returning as I've already wasted enough time on this issue. Everybody have a nice day. Hey Scott, nice avatar. Jerry says hello.

Easier solution - play better, Wags... Robert doesn't affect me at all. I've made the last 6 cuts. Even got an exemption to PGA one week where I got buried. It's for the other golfers that it bugs me. You got guys sitting at the cut line for 8 hours with nothing being posted. Suddenly, just before midnight, the scores go up and these guys who have been biting their nails all day hoping to make the cut, get their hopes dashed with just minutes to go. I think it's bush league to wait so long. Surely these people had their rounds played long before midnight. Anyway, I'm done doing the Watchers Report. I just get too annoyed with the whole thing so it's not worth the aggravation anymore. Let somebody else deal with it.

Hi! I "watch" in a sense. I generally play all 4 rounds in a row as soon as the new week goes live. I write my scores down. I wait. Usually until Thursday before I go into work at 10. Me waiting or watching has no bearing on people missing cuts. If they finish 71st at the cut and I waited, then they finish 71st at the cut if I post Saturday at 1 am. I do it to do it. If it makes people mad, then so be it. It's a video game. I think it's more offensive for people to wait around all week just to play with ghosts in tour rounds. Then again, it's a game. I figure if I'm good enough for people to use my ghost, then I've came quite a ways. I also find humor in people getting mad because they miss a cut at the last minute. Sucks, but it's a game.

The option, which has probably been discussed would be to auto populate the leaderboard with API data (greyed out maybe?) and just require confirmation to make the result official.

Im late to this game because I havent played the tour in awhile. Do some people not post to avoid a strike for that week?
If so, can we give people who don't submit a score a strike or is that too severe/open up a whole new can of worms?
If this is why they're doing it, then that's cheap but if they're just waiting because I don't really see the harm in it.

If this is why they're doing it, then that's cheap but if they're just waiting because I don't really see the harm in it. People post late for a variety of reasons. Some legit and some, IMO, are not in the spirit of the game. Here are some of the more common reasons. 1) Forgetfulness - They don't post right away after playing and then at the last minute remember they didn't post and do it last minute. Some people completely forget altogether. 2) Procrastinators - These are the people who just keep putting things off. They not only don't post but don't even play their rounds until the last minute. Some don't even get to finish in time. And no, these are not people who can ONLY play their rounds 2 hours before midnight each Thursday. I refuse to believe that out of a 7 day week, those 2 hours are the ONLY 2 free hours of time these people have. No, they just keep putting things off until they're like "Oh crap, I gotta get my golf in." 3) To Avoid Strike/Missing Cut - They essentially wait to see what the scores are to post. If they see they are going to either get a strike or miss the cut (Web/PGA/Euro) they don't post. 4) Exemption - Some people won't even post unless their scores guarantee them an exemption. Ending up in the middle of the pack or short of a "meaningful" spot doesn't interest them. 5) Ghost Ball Advantage - There are some people who not only post as late as possible but play as late as possible to get a ghost ball advantage of getting to see how others played the holes. 6) To Simply Be Spiteful - Then there are those who know they shot well enough to make the cut, miss a strike or even well enough to get an exemption but simply post late to crush the spirits of those on the bubble. These are the folks I personally have the most contempt for. Those are the more common reasons. I can excuse forgetfulness or even laziness. But I won't excuse trying to gain an advantage or gaming the system. Hope this answers your question.

I personally like to switch things up each week. Last week I didn't post rounds 1 and 2 until 9 Thursday night and didn't play rounds 3 and 4 until Saturday. This week I've played all four rounds, posted round 1 and haven't decided when I'll post the last three. Some weeks I post all four scores right away. Some weeks I wait until Wednesday or Thursday before even registering. When I play my rounds is constantly changing as well. Guess I'm not superstitious and I like to keep things different. Of course now that I know it annoys wagtunes Thursday night posting might become a more regular thing. Although as a fan of irony I have to say that I love that the guy who has been doing watcher reports hates watchers.
I will however always post my scores if I play the rounds. What is the benefit to getting a DNF instead of a MC? Is there any or is it just a fake pride thing so you can say you've never missed a cut?
