Not often I play a round of 14 or 15 under and leave feeling a bit disappointed with my score. This would make a great CC-AM course as its very well crafted or a TST-SE course, but they removed SE sadly. Only hole I didn't like is one of the Par-3s with a hill at the back. The green-placement felt a bit forced and unnatural. Gave the course a 9/10, but that's only because I would like to have seen a greater challenge personally. Shouldn't affect you in the competition. Haven't played any other courses in your group yet, but I'm guessing this will take you through to the knockout stages. Pretty much solidifies my initial thought having played your betas of the course. Well done m8! Thank you sir. I'm glad you enjoyed the course. I can only assume that you are speaking of the par three 3rd hole. It must be true that great minds think alike because that is the very hole that I will most likely skip for the two VIP mökki (cabin) routings. It's not that I personally dislike the hole or feel that it doesn't fit the course, it's just like you said...forced into that corner. Now, about those VIP versions. You see, each of the two guest mökki has a short private par four that plays from just out the back door. They can be used as private practice facilities/ranges or to begin a full round of golf. One empties out behind the 5th tee and the other comes out beside the 7th tee. So from there you just play the loop normally and will finish on what are traditionally the 4th or 6th holes, which as luck would have it, both make decent finishing holes. I'd also like to add that I just recently added the first Pro version of the course that plays a good 4 or 5 strokes tougher than the contest entry. It's 7,287 yards long with faster greens and tougher pin placements. Again, thanks for checking out the course and congrats on the fine round!

Hey Griff, I did get a chance to watch your playthrough late last night. I'm glad that you enjoyed the course and had a great round to boot! I would like to respond to a couple of things that you brought up. First of all is the rakes, they have no effect on the flight of a ball or the swingpath of a club in this game. None. I like the look of them. If you or others don't care for them that is fine, but if they watched that stream I want the judges to know that they have no collision properties and will not affect gameplay. I tested this in early access on the PC and again today on both the PC and PS4. The other thing I recalled you mentioning was the inability to see the green on the par three 12th hole. It is quite a drop, and I am very proud of that hole and all six of it's teeboxes. When you get on an elevated tee like those (there are quite a few of them here) you're going to need to change your camera angle. To cycle through the different cameras (there are 4 total) you need to push down on the right analog stick of your controller. The second and third camera angles are both good for playing downhill shots. Here are three shots I grabbed from that same hole showing the default and two alternate camera angles.... The other camera angles can come in handy as well when you have an obstruction behind you or you're stuck in some tall grass or bushes. The other things that you mentioned were all maters of preference and mostly about layout choices and/or trees. Once you've played from a few different sets of tees here at the bait shop the evil genius behind some of those trees will reveal itself. And Griff, thanks again for putting together this contest and taking the time to comb through each of these designs. My hat is off to you good sir.

My streams have absolutely nothing to do with what the judges see or say on a course and most of that was just my opinion. I said "I would have liked to have seen"...that's just my view as a designer. I can't judge a course by different sets of tees and such because that's not what I've been given to play. Anyways...great course and good luck through the contest.

Solid course sir, might be a little bit too easy for tours and the bunkering was kinda odd...some holes had lots of bunkers and some had very few or none in play...but still fun round!

The game has the elevation data for each individual shot that you face (it displays it right on the HUD) available and they could have easily tweaked the code to have it switch to the second camera if a par 3 tee shot is say...more than 50 feet downhill. Hopefully they get it right in TGC2. And I don't know if everyone here knows how to switch the camera views with their particular setup. I have no idea what key or button it is if you use the keyboard/mouse. Is there even a manual for this game? I kind of stumbled upon it by accident. Solid course sir, might be a little bit too easy for tours and the bunkering was kinda odd...some holes had lots of bunkers and some had very few or none in play...but still fun round! Thank you sir. Yeah there are three 'single bunker' holes on the course...one of each par. The one I'm the most proud of is the 18th hole. It's the only bunker that the hole really needs and it's so deliciously placed. In the contest version I let you play from the front teebox for the easy eagle chance so you all blasted right over it, but the more widely used back tees bring that little bunker very much into play.

Finally gave this a play and the sculpting and looks were great. I do not recall hitting any sand so I didn't even notice the rakes. Played real easy which was a nice change of pace for me. Hopefully it gets a tournament crack. Hopefully you do well in the contest as well.

You already know that I'm a fan of Carl's, but I have to say. Just played diablo v. 1. Plays even better. I would still count it as one of the easiest courses in this comp had this version been used, but it's a much more pleasant experience.
Some of these holes were not even used in the contest entry or am I getting senile?

Some of these holes were not even used in the contest entry or am I getting senile? Lol. I'm telling you my friend, this course plays SO different from one version to the next...it is amazing. YES, those were the same 18 holes. The 12th hole is almost unrecognizable from that hidden teebox down by the water. It took me a week to build a pathway leading down to it, but I think it was worth it in the long run. Another version worth checking out is Casual v.1. It's the first published version so far to use some of the "skybox" tees, although be warned the course plays very short and the greens could use some mowing. Speaking of mowing, I need to talk to my greenskeeper about that 16th green. How did your ball not roll off of there on your second playthrough? Anyway, great round Ola. Hopefully, Carl or I can swing by Silent Ivy this weekend for another round. Cheers.
