Port Sunlight Golf Club:
This is my entry into the TGCTours Invicta World Cup Of Design Competition. Theme: Highlands. Atmospheric Conditions: Late spring, early morning, sunny (minimal cloud cover). Holes: 18. Length; 7082 yards. Par: 72 (4 x par 3, 10 x par 4, 4 x par 5). Fairways firmness: Medium. Greens firmness: Medium. Greens speed: Medium Fast @ 177 ft. Cart Hire: No, but powered handcarts are welcome. Tees:- Tournament (Black). - Championship (White). - Members (Red). The twin estuaries of Port Sunlight play host to this rugged but well kept 18 hole golf course hidden away on the North West coast of England. Some spectacular views across the waterways add to the beautiful landscape locking in the varied & often elevated trail. Options, some wind dependant make no two rounds alike & those seeking a challenge from tee to pins won't be disappointed. Get out of position & the penalties are severe... Hold it together though & the rewards are receptive greens with the opportunities to score handsomely. Excellent video Simon, pity about the pix. Seriously though it looks good and will give it play asap. Are you cack-handed? No wonder you can't make a cut!

Just played, finished -1. A great test to a golfer's ability.
I think you need to use the single steps instead of the others. It's just like how the shorter retaining wall works for curves much better than the bigger peices.
Other than that. I loved the layout and the views. Gave you a 9.

Wow, if the comp was judged on how well we played the others' courses I'd be winning, -15 on this with a water ball. So far my second favorite of the comp (behind mine obviously).
Had a great feel to it, not a hole seemed out of place (except 10, what demon inspired you to slope the fairway like that?). Had the winds been higher probably would have tested my play a lot more, never rose above 8 for me and most was under 5.
Well deserving of this comp, hope it goes far.

Cheers Peter.... Had to bring my "A" game with the calibre (once again) assembled by @griff & the format - bit harder to go deep as the knock out phase (if lucky enough to make it) will be brutal

Port Sunlight is place on Gods Earth, green fields, sparkling brooks, breezy hills and springy heather, the golfers mind is stored with beauties of nature and pleasing outlooks. when playing this beauty you could be intoxicated with heightened senses on your journey throughout this wonderful course.
Much history went on back in time at this real place on the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside. Built by the Lever brothers in which they built a Soap factory, I have to say that Sam`s Port Sunlight Design is squeeky clean
The name is derived from Lever Brothers' most popular brand of cleaning agent, Sunlight. So for me, Port sunlight shines through and is the cleanest design he has made
Trees whispered praises during my round here, as i drive my ball through the Fairways of Wirral. Distant views surround the players way, which holds wonders throughout the bay .
Great outlook from the Tees, fairways are interesting, natural shapes and contours, have strategic elements, options available off the tee, wide enough and textures blend well here.
Greens are plentiful and will accommodate multipins, they show variety, hold shots and gentle but challenging contours. Like the elevations through the course, they contain lots variety with splashes of shot shaping here and there. Bunkers are well done, nice organic shapes, variety, sunken well and smooth, look and feel good, so well done and much improved.
Water sits well into landscape, and classic sam style rock formations which are planted well into the landscape Planting of trees. foliage etc is done very well too mate Appearance and layout comes across very well, very appealing , feels and plays good. Not penal at all but more strategically designed i think is this course, love the variety of shots on offer
Favourite course of yours to date
Thanks Sam

Wowza!! Thanks for the awesome extensive feedback @pingzing Living in the North West of England I've visited Port Sunlight & the beautiful village which you've obviously Googled or Wiki'd. Plenty to see & do there including an interactive museum of the history & an art gallery if you're into that kinda stuff. Anywhoo - back to the golf & yes, I'd have to agree, this is my best presentation & design to date. Not saying I'm gonna win the Invicta World Cup - some absolute corkers getting published almost daily now, but hopefully the course holds up & with a bit o' luck I can make the knock out phase. I'll be multi pinning the medium settings & publishing a firmer version regardless of the contest & might even rehash a winter themed adaptation for the holiday season
