Just finished my latest course but can't publish it for some reason, it comes up with ERROR Publish failed every time. Anyone know of a problem with the game or is it just me? My plant meter is only around 60% full so don't think that's causing an issue. Never had this problem before.

If so, it's likely that you're file size is too large (regardless of plant meter).

Yes I am on PC. Is there any way of checking the file size and does anyone know what the limit is ? You can check the file size at C:/Users/Username/AppData/LocalLow/HBStudios/TheGolfClub/courses. I'm pretty sure the file size threshhold is around 2.5M...somebody will correct me if I'm mistaken.

Tried to check the file size but I don't have AppData under my user name and can't find another path through.

You (probably) need to select the option to show hidden files/folders. Then AppData will show up in Explorer in a lighter shade than the other folders under your user name (along with a few others). Whilst you're in the Explorer folder options make sure that hide known filetypes is not checked. All of this is slightly dependent on which version of Windows you're running.

Many thanks for the help guys. Found the files. The file size for the course I'm trying to publish is 4,876 KB. This is 10 times the size of another completed course I have in my list. All I can put this down to is a lot of heavy grass planting, nothing else would explain it. It didn't fill the plant meter, but it did slow down the course designer in the later stages of the design. The course seems to play fine, no performance issues on that front, just can't publish.

Was the grasses laid using multi plant tool? That is reported to be a primary factor in this problem by others.

As Taste pointed out....If you used the multi plant tool excessively then your in trouble. I've been down that road awhile back with a course. You'll need to remember your most heavily planted spots on your course that you used the multi plant tool for grass and start deleting. It's a pain in the ass but it'll never upload until you do. This is something HB Studios really needs to address for TGC2 or just get rid of it completely. There's no sense having a multi plant tool when it causes upload issues when used.

Another bug is when removing heavy multiplanted grass, the object meter won't go down (but file size should)

If you are just looking to get it published in-game you could email me the file - I've had success publishing larger files for others that couldn't. Of course I get all the credit as the course designer though!

Nearly all the grass planting was done with the multi-plant tool so I guess that's the problem. Seems planting this way doesn't push up the plant meter the way it should so you're unaware of the problem. Should have realised though when it started slowing the course designer down. Maybe they need to add " KEEP OFF THE MULTI-PLANTED GRASS " to the signs menu Thanks for the offer Doyley, but I'd like to keep the course in my listings so I can recall it for making any alterations or further versions. Now to the next problem. I can never get the area delete tool to work. Multi delete works fine, but I don't fancy having to remove all the grass with that. Am I doing something wrong or does area delete just not work at all.

Takes a little bit of trial and error to make sure you're not deleting stuff you want to leave, but make the brush larger and go from there. You may have to keep making it larger til it works, but you'll eventually find the threshold.
