Man maybe we can get this thread locked too?
On a side note in a semi-slump. Only shot -1 in Round 1 of the PGA this week which was 5 shots worse than the worst score on PS4 (-6). No points whatsoever this week as could not get through Round 2. Hoping to get out of this funk ASAP starting with next weeks event.
If the USA does beat the Euro IMO would be a huge upset. No pressure on us at all. First off I know that slump won't last...it's just a matter of time. Funny how we can slump in this damn game just like IRL. And I agree it'll be an upset for us to win the Cup. But if Rob plays like he did in round 1 this week even Ian is going down hard! Played with your ghost Rob...wow, that's some kind of round!! U must b smokin crack dude ,ian has another level to any of us ,cant wait 4 the tinytears hahaha

But Rob's -16 in those winds was pretty salty, plus many of the shots were tight. Anyhow, you don't have to remind me who #1 is.
Side note to Ian...don't ever come to a sudden stop pal, or you better cover your back side lest 12-15 heads make their way straight up there! Haha.

"Nine out of ten times we play this team they would beat us. But not tonight because tonight is our night. Tonight we win" - Herb Brooks
It only takes once. No one argues Ian is the best. But even the Soviet hockey team lost once. And this Euro team is no Soviet hockey team. They are repeatedly beatable.

RYDER CUP UPDATE - Sept 1
Sorry my internet was down for a couple of day (stupid provider cut a cable at the street), so here is the updated status for the majority of the reviewed players. This list wont shrink in this blog, but when Irving and I review it has shrunk to a certain extent.
This has now been sorted by "WGR", and not Ryder Cup points as previously. I added in the Euro players I talked about this weekend (They are Americans playing in Europe).
Notes: The candidates are not in any meaningful order above I promise you.
General Comments: Hard to ignore a recent win for Fargo, or 2 top 10's for Balzhiser, or 3 top 10's in 4 events for Thomas, or the overall season of Burger or Coates. Pineault was on the very cusp for last years presidents cup, where will he land this year? Sikorski was great in the Presidents cup last year, can he put together a couple of big results? Or can Cassiday build on his last two top 25's? Is Paisley back in form and dedicated to making a run? These stories and many others still yet to play out. Glad I don't have to make those decisions... oh crap... dang I do.

Yeah, I'm glad you're back in the saddle pal. When I started playing this game you were one of the first ghosts I played along side and I thought you must be cheating because you were so much better than I was. Ha. This will be fun...not sure yet that I really belong with you fellas at the top but I'll show up just in case. Play well bud.

PERSONAL PLAYOFF LOG - September 3
The quest to play next week on the PGA (and the TST) is going to be too close for comfort.
I started the PGA week in 72nd. The top 70 move on to next week. After getting by on the number to make the cut, I played well and should finish around 48th.
48th is worth around 90 fed ex points I believe.
90 Fed ex points gets me to around 540 give or take. That would move me up to 66th (Yea), IF no one else gained points (fat chance).
Jeff McNeil is currently 11th. (nice work) Stephen Thompson is tied with me (same fed ex pts in this event) Kevin Hall is currently 47th (behind me in the event and should surpass) LeBlond, and Reese missed the cut so limited pts from them. Washington and Greenwood made the cut but are behind me on the tourney leaderboard. Radakovitz it appears did not play on PGA this week, so...
McNeil and Thompson will certainly stay ahead of me. So should be 68th. Maybe, "maybe" I missed someone else coming up from behind, but I think I will be 68th and just make the next round.
Now to calculate what I have to do to get into the top 30th? Can you win twice in the same tournament.
MEANWHILE ON THE TST -
I sit 41st on the money list, with the top 40 making it to the upcoming event. I need at least 38,000 dollars to move into 40th (assuming no one comes up from behind me and 40th gains nothing).
I currently sit T25, and expect to finish around 26 or 27th. Last week that earned 65K, Yea!
Nathan Allen 40th place did not play this week, so I have passed him almost certainly. Double Yea! Tickner did not play this week, nor did Lazell (behind me), so that is good.
Will I earn enough to pass Tickner in 39th? If not I am sitting 40th, and on the cusp of getting eliminated by a hot hand well behind me.
I will need 1.3M to qualify for the tour championship on the TST in 9 days. Winner earned 1.4M last week on the TST, so you are saying there is a chance..
I think I will get in the PGA BMW event by 1 spot, and may get into the TST BMW on the number. Like a new pair of jeans after wash day, it is going to tight.

Minor update - things might be worse for the PGA than I thought... In digging, Chris Chen (81st) should surpass me with two good weekend rounds.
Ben Timmons (86th) and I should be within about 10 fed ex points give or take at the end of the weekend.
Clay Schlegel can pass me with a top 10 finish (I think).
If all 3 of those happen to go against me I would be 71st...

Well played, looks like you'll squeeze into the BMW. As for the Tour Championship, it will be top 30 who accept invites for that one so you may squeeze into that one aswell depending on who accepts the invites.

Ryder Cup Update - T-5 Days to Trio of Captains Picks
Above is the list of players being tracked currently. There are a few more names being followed not on this list for captains picks, but this is the main list. With only 5 days (Sunday we have to pick 3 of our 4 captains picks) this list is bigger than the one whittled down by Irving and I for consideration but want everyone to see the overall thought process.
- Daniel Coates has been in the top 10 of Ryder Cup Points all year so he was always on the radar, however a top 5 finish certainly adds to his resume
- Patrick Keehan has struggled the past month and in the big events until this week, BOOOM - 2nd place. Start of something big?
- Top 10 for Patrick Gardner, that is 2 in 3 weeks. He is definitely a rising talent
- Josh Cassiday has improved each of the past 5 weeks, 6th place this week! May need to run that streak to 7 straight weeks of improvement, can he do it?
- Derek Stupak goes top 10 in Europe, against the very enemy he would face in the Ryder Cup.
