I played the Masters last week for fun and would have placed about 45th if I was participating for real. Damn- I wish I could sneak up there onto one of the Pro Tours. The WEB is really difficult right now to get an exemption.

Pint of Murphys or Beamish, depending on what you prefer and if beer is not your thing, a nice selection of red lemonade is available, followed by a fine meal of Crubeens with Tripe & Drisheen. breaking all the stereotypes here haha.

First time on Web.com as exemption. Finished the first two rounds -7 and -7. Fingers crossed I make the cut with -14 so I can't get my card.

If it helps, I think -14 just about made the cut last week. Initial predictions for last week were that -18 was required - that steadily reduced as the week wore on so don't be too worried if you read initial predictions of a higher cut mark.

To be honest gun to my head I've been wrong by miles lately as lolly pointed out! I think the cut will be -14 this week so it'll probably be -8 going by how wrong I was last week haha

Mediocre first round of -5 followed by an enjoyable -9 in the second to be at -14 at the halfway point. I'm going to be sweating over the cut again.

Back on the Web tour this week after a decent tourney on the euro last week (although it was a reduced field). Having never played the course I went straight in to round 1 1st round I had a few bogies, a few missed putts and a respectable -9. My playing partner hit a -12 but had been practicing so I thought that was ok. I managed to stop my ball 3/4 up a red hill slope on a par 3 which gave me a bogie as my putt shot off the green like a bullet...I must have found someone's pitch mark! Round two was windy. Pin positions seemed harder. No eagles this round but I can't remember any bogies either. I put in another 63 for a -18 at the turn. I did have a challenging putt with a 4 foot drop on one hole which I was disappointed to miss....I should be making those putts...but I did chip in from the next shot I am really enjoying this course, big thumbs up to the designer.

Yesterday I had a easy putt for birdie on the first and missed, today I had a hard putt and it dropped. With the wind blowing today, all birdies are gratefully received. I came close to doing the same thing on the second, a poor pitch had my ball fail to get up the slope and roll back to the front of the green, my putt was good, had the line, just stopped short. For the third time in a row, I left my approach to short leaving a difficult putt, again I got it close for a safe par but if I keep leaving myself so far from the hole, it's going to be a short week for me in Killarney. I played the fourth as well as good be expected, as long as I avoided the rough from the tee, I knew there was a good chance of birdie and that's what I done, off the green with my second, for a change flopped close with my third and tap in birdie. I did not avoid the rough on the fifth, my second shot was a disaster, I thought i aimed far enough right to be well clear of the water, I was wrong, a combination of lie, wind and not enough attention meant a double bogey and puts leaves me with a tough challenge to make the cut. A fantastic tee shot on six was a huge boost to my confidence, it was just what I needed after the previous hole, back to under par and the hope that all is not lost just yet. The seventh played so long in that headwind, I tried to be as accurate as I could with out being short and my ball just rolled off the back of the green, the chip was not easy, and I was happy it stopped and did not roll down the hill, just a par but not bad on a tricky hole in those conditions. While the headwind made the seventh long, the tailwind made the eight short. I aimed my tee shot well left in the hope it would hit the hill and bounce right onto the green, that's exactly what happened and I was just over twenty feet from the cup, my eagle chance was downhill with a lot of break but I went for it anyway, it looked good for so much of the way and just slid past the hole, still a good birdie. A poor tee shot on nine left me off the green, twelve yards from the flag looking down from high on a slope, there was only one way I was getting this close and that was by hitting the flag. My ball hit the flag and dropped for birdie, as good a chip I have made in ages, three under at the turn, a good recovery from the double on five.
A bad bounce on the fringe of the tenth green put me in the one place I did not want to be, above the hole, break in all directions. The only way I was not rolling of the green was by hitting the cup. My ball hit the cup, it did not drop this time, the speed was to much, but it did stop to bring a very good par. My first birdie of the back nine came on eleven, I played the hole well to leave a five foot birdie putt, it was not a gimme, the break lines were fast, a good birdie that could have gone wrong with that last putt. I knew I had to make birdie on twelve, a short par five, it would be vital for making the cut. I did not take the risk of going for the green, laying up was the smart option. My flop could have been closer but a straight put brought that needed birdie. I now had to avoid mistakes and maybe pick up a shot to two more, it was going to be a nervy few holes. I had a birdie chance on thirteen but it was a tricky downhill putt, again I took no chances, tapped the ball gentle just to get it close for a safe par. The fourteenth was playing tough, I did not find the green, went off the back which was not a bad place to be. I then over hit my chip and put myself in trouble. My putt was not overly long but also not easy. My heart was in my mouth as it started to veer right just before the cup, it fell in the side for a good par. I got away with it there. Another par on fifteen, missed the green again so was happy with par, those three holes could have brought trouble, happy to be past them without losing a shot. I should have laid up on sixteen, it would have been the smart thing to do with that pin position. Instead, I saw in my mind, me playing a wonderful tee shot using the slope to bring it close for eagle. In reality, I got the wind wrong, the ball went left onto the fringe rolled off the fringe back onto the green to stop above the slope leaving a three foot downhill putt of around forty feet. The ball was not stopping even if it hit the cup, off the green it went. I chipped in for birdie, what a bonus and how important it might turn out to be. The wind had seventeen playing long and was happy enough to walk away with a safe par. Just one to go, a birdie would be nice, a par is a must. I found the fairway safely, I found the green safely all be it behind the hole, my putt was pretty straight but if I got the speed wrong, it could roll and roll. It dropped in the centre of the cup, seven under, I'll take that.
I am very happy with that round. Recovering from that early double was so pleasing, I did not let it destroy my confidence and managed to push on. I got lucky a couple of times, no doubt about that but I also played some good golf. Fifteen under, a good chance of making the cut I think, just have to wait and see, what ever happens, I enjoyed my two rounds so far. Good luck all.

Played my final 2 rounds, my impatience is unreal. 3rd round, not too bad, -8. 4th round I imploded on the front 9 & had a treble & double bogey in a row to put me +3, nightmare!!! Fought back as much as I could & finished -2. Final round jitters & a few bad chips & putts, cost me hugely. So final score of -37. ( -17 -10 -8 -2 ) Top 20 top 10 maybe. I just finished my 3rd & 4th rounds and had added your ghost to my 4th....I was literally screaming at my TV for your ball to stop on those 2 holes!!! Hard luck just missing the hole in 1 on the 13th as well, I wasn't watching the screen when your shot was being taken but heard it hit the pin. Then just lipped out for eagle on you on 16. Although it was a bad round for you, still impressive play to pull back under par. When that happens to me it just blows my concentration right out the window and I just go from bad to worse. I've rage quit a few times this season already and was going to request to go down to the CC after getting 4 missed cuts in a row as well. I finished with a score of -34 (-10, -7, -9, -8) myself. Really like this course but if you not careful it can definitely kick you where it hurts.
