Yeah those minor adjustments do certainly get fine-tuned with experience. I think rhythm is important too as you have to make so many of these fine judgements during a round you need to be in a confident zone for all aspects of aproach and putting. It's that combination of calculation and feel that's the key. My problem is doing it consistently, standards are so high on the tour you cant afford any prolongued dips in form if u want to place well over 4 rounds.

Is the cut going to -11 or will it stay at -10. Only a few to post scores. Thoughts?

Couldn't agree more. I played one of the best tourneys I could have. There might be 4 or 5 strokes I could have been better due to poor putting but to be 10 strokes back just shows me I have a lot more work to do to get better. Just keep telling myself one day I will get there. Not surprisingly I disagree The elite separate themselves no matter the course. In my opinion this gives the rest of a chance to finish higher than normal since a birdie actually means something for once. I get that it's a bit of a grind, but I hope we continue to mix in tough courses once in a while. Maybe just sprinkle them in from time to time and not have them back to back. I also fully understand my opinion doesn't hold much weight this week since this is my course and all. I'm sure it just looks like I'm trying to defend this monstrosity, but that's truly how I feel about it. Scarpacci, I truly enjoyed the challenge of the course and after rereading my post I didn't use the best words. I especially like the large fairways which mich like a Nicklaus design are deceptive because you still need to be in the right 1/3 to have the appropriate angle at the pin. That is a design feature that we don't see often in this game. In my book, the tougher the better as far as courses. I was able to figure out for one round. I am amazed at how well IJS played. Should go down as one of the best performances of the year. (Or anyone else who shot that well...I haven't checked the scores) Thanks for all the work that went into the course!

Just finished R3 and 4 and I am actually knackered, feels like I've just been chased by dogs or something lol Having heard about the weekend conditions I was a nervous. I occasionally nail it when the wind's up but more often it turns into a calamity and seeing as I was well positioned going in, I knew R3 would be decisive. Had a so-so start with a 3 birdies and 4 pars which were starting to worry me as I teed off on the 9th. My approach was a 7 iron which was the perfect angle but it was one of those where you know immediately as it hits the green you are either going long or holing out. Thankfully it was the latter and all of a sudden I was -5 going into the back 9 when it was looking like I might be -2 or -3. At this point it was clear that though the pins were very tricky indeed, the wind was not going to be getting too crazy and I knew I had the measure of the bounce and managed to put together a nice little run to finish R3 at -10. So I was at -32 and I worked out going into R4 that as it stood, -14 would win it (not going to happen), -7 would tie with Brad for 2nd (doable) and -4 would give me a chance of top 5. Anyway long story short I played some good stuff on the front 9 including a flop from the rough that found the hole to get to -5 at the turn. I knew I only needed 2 more birdies to tie for 2nd but I just couldn't find them and it was looking like I was going to plateaux at -5. Then I birdied that par 3 on the 16th with the big downhill elevation from the tee. I lofted up a 4 iron which dropped a mile straight up off the brow of the slope leading up to the green, rolled all the way to the back to within 1 inch of the fringe, seemed to stop, then started rolling around to the left and backwards picking up speed before finally nestling 3 inches from the pin. Amazing luck. Gave myself a chance to do it on the final green with a 6 footer but I just underhit it and the break took me left so -6 it was. This basically summed up my play on the finishing straight - too worried about protecting my score to play with the freedom needed to string together the birdies. Total score was -38 and I'm hoping that will be enough to clinch top 5 - fingers crossed and very well played to Kenny, Trowlhead and Ian whose ghosts I played with, there was some special shots going on left right and centre it was an education. Finally, well done Scarpacci on another great course - I got the run of the ball this week but regardless of that I thought it was prbably my third favourite hard and fast course after Doulough Manor and Muirfield, great hole design throughout even if the pins went a bit mental towards the end which was bitter-sweet. It's no Scarpacci Island but I've warmed to the more I;ve played. Anyway best of luck to those still to play, congrats to those who got their card and unlucky with that rogue dog Brad that one made me laugh. I'll go back to the old two-line tourney report next week when I miss the cut so enough from me. Well played everyone

Welp! The run of good golf had to end sometime, but I'm just happy it extended past Friday this week - just long enough for me to make the cut and earn my Euro card. Fired solid opening rounds of 63 and 64, and started off well enough in round 3, reaching the turn at 4-under. Then it came to a crashing halt. Bad approaches, bad chips, and missed opportunities plagued the back 9. Sank a 40-footer up the hill on 18 to finish even on the back. Sitting at -21 after 3 rounds with a chance for a top-25. Can't really complain.

Thanks Scarpacci i really enjoyed the course, as always no messing straight up top golf course. Did really well after 2 rounds just had a bad r3 that stopped me getting a top 10, improving steadily for the masters though

-19 total for my four rounds and heading for my normal finish of somewhere between 40th and 50th.
Enjoyed the challenge of this course for the most part, it just got a bit silly on a few holes on Saturday and Sunday when you where trying to land an iron shot 20-30 yards short of the green to have any chance of getting it to hold.

Congrats ian on another win and also to Bradley and Peter on top 3. Was a good fair course and was fun to play. Quick greens but plenty of room for the most part for landing short and running the ball to the pin. I got my highest career fimish and first career euro tour top 5. Hoping I can keep it going for a few more tourneys.
