finished up -13 -12 -11 -10 total -46
would of took -40 before it started so to get to -46 I am happy with that, the 3rd round was probably the best of the 4 helped by trying to lay up on a par 5 so I didn't leave myself a 80foot putt then watched my ball take a huge bounce on to the green I thought nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo then it kept rolling and rolling and stopped 5 feet away for eagle great game!
then on Tuesday I see brads first round so made a trip to Birmingham and let loose the local dog I didn't think it would actually work tho still vwp mate also wp shoey tom and nath on the ps4.
also well done to Mike Humphries and John santorella on making the cut and getting your card congrats

Well my first two rounds are done and I have somehow managed to ride that fine line and come out in good shape. No bogeys, some good scoring streaks and my best approach play to date has left me at -22 and I am now officially bricking it for this weekend setup I've heard. Part of me knows it could be a bloodbath if my game collapses in the high winds but having actually given myself a realistic chance for a top 5 another part of me - the sweet but stupid part - just wonders if some brutal winds and pins might work in my favour.... ...and I am now sure to find myself somewhere on the back 9 of R4 staring at that last sentence with a twitch in my left eye. great shooting peter, best of luck for ur last to rounds

I crossed over to the PGA this week Tony because I didn't like the course, I'm glad I did I don't think I will make the cut but I did enjoy my rounds strange as it might seem. Sorry I didn't cross over too #2lateforhindsight #moanytony

I would be happy if i could putt like you I have also noticed you work out the perfect landing spot nearly everytime which is probably the reason why you are so good

I have also noticed you work out the perfect landing spot nearly everytime which is probably the reason why you are so good Working out the perfect landing spot is pretty easy, all you have to do is watch a couple of replays of shots into the green with various clubs and just take note of how far they roll out, what the wind direction was and whether the green was sloping towards you or away from you. Once you're confident of the rough distances it isn't too difficult to get it fairly close. Then you need lots of luck too, especially when having to pitch just on the green. The amount of times the ball gets magically attracted to the fringe is mind boggling well that certainly happens a lot when I play #fringeking . The only day around this course where getting it close was pretty much impossible was the Sunday setup, that's where the luck would play a huge factor. The really difficult shots are the ones where you need a couple of bounces on the fairway before getting on the green, those can drive you nuts, if your luck's in they might roll up nicely, if not they can go screaming through or take a nasty hop to the side and end up in trouble short.

Yes, I like to practice the course a few times and find some consistent spots. But also take notes as you're playing your tournament rounds. The wind direction will change the amount of rollout dramatically. So you need to be constantly adjusting. It's a lot to do with feel and guesswork, there isn't an exact formula. But the more you practice in firm conditions, the more likely you are to guess correctly. Or if you're Ian, you'll just naturally find those spots and rip the course up no matter how it's playing

For example for the WGC event i am trying to find the perfect landing spots but will have to adjust for headwinds/tailwinds etc come tourney time. Im guessing headwinds will reduce the amount of roll and the opposite with tailwinds. To be honest i should know that

People want to say this game is 100% math but if that were true there wouldn't be such a large gap between the best and the rest of us. It's the minor adjustments after the math, which take practice and experience that make a real difference. Superior putting skills are also a huge factor and there is no mathematical formula for that as far as I know.

Some people just know exactly the line to putt the ball on. The very best will probably know exactly where to move the marker back (distance) etc etc
I dream of putting like the elite, i really do.

Only 11 people have birdied the 4th hole through 2 rounds. Only 1 of those birdies came from somebody in the top 5. #closingthegap
Looking like my -11 might make it into the weekend after all, but I can never figure that stuff out. Not that it matters since I completely melted down in the weekend. #openingthegap

GIR% is interesting. Very high, especially from the leaders. I expect those numbers to decline over the weekend, but through 2 rounds it been the best putters getting the birdies not the best chippers.
