Started this week out well but fizzled in round 2. RD1: -10 (62) RD2: -3 (69) My weakness is surely identified by these scores. Firm and fast can be had by me as long as the greens provide me with the room I need to run the ball up from 20 yards short. Moving into round 2, I didn't get that opportunity as many of the pins were very close to the front of the green. I apparently suck at this or I suck at truly identifying where I need to put the ball in order to have the best opportunity to make a putt. I also made a few course management mistakes (like flying my second shot on a par 5 thru the green to leave myself a poor pitch out of 80% rough). I am enjoying my Euro experience so far as well. In the few weeks I have been up here I have become better at higher lofted shots, better with my wind calculations of those higher lofted shots, and learning how to land the ball well short of the hole in order to get close enough for a good look at a putt. I am enjoying the competition quite a bit as well. Good luck everyone. Round 3 in the books. I thought this round played pretty fairly compared to what I have read here. The only questionable pin position was number 10, that was a bit brutal if you were somehow left of the hole pitching or chipping (or even putting). I managed a par but could definitely see someone having trouble there. RD3: -4 (68)

Solid -9 on round 1 and then I couldn't get the speed right in round 2. I had seven birdies and finished even. Totally frustrating. I can't blame the course for that poor putting.

All this type course does as far as competition is concerned is seperate the elite from the rest even more. IJS is leading PS4 by 10 shots. That is some phenomenal shooting.

I played one of the best tourneys I could have. There might be 4 or 5 strokes I could have been better due to poor putting but to be 10 strokes back just shows me I have a lot more work to do to get better. Just keep telling myself one day I will get there.

In my opinion this gives the rest of a chance to finish higher than normal since a birdie actually means something for once. I get that it's a bit of a grind, but I hope we continue to mix in tough courses once in a while. Maybe just sprinkle them in from time to time and not have them back to back. I also fully understand my opinion doesn't hold much weight this week since this is my course and all. I'm sure it just looks like I'm trying to defend this monstrosity, but that's truly how I feel about it.

I don't usually post on here as I've never really had anything to shout about, so I've decided to have a bit of a rant instead. Why is there so much emphasis on courses with concrete greens every week. As shoey101 mentioned above in his post, it just separates the elite from the rest of us. These guys can adapt to these condition better than most of us and they probably enjoy playing on these courses anyway. I am a bit of a traditionalist at heart. And by that, I mean I like to play golf the way its meant to be played. I don't enjoy hitting approach shots where you are trying to hit an area the size of a pin-head in order to keep your ball on the green, and then having to wait three days for it to stop rolling. I know we are Pro's and we should have to adapt to whatever course we have to play, but it would be nice to have some variation so most players at some point will play a course that suites their game. But at the moment it just feels one sided.

No disrespect to creator but how this course got approved by tgc is ridiculous , pins are so unapproachable . I prefer tougher courses b ut not unplayable courses # un enjoyable Scarpacci has a ton of amazing courses this is just not one of them. Fast, Fri. can play close to 5000yds with a high wind and no light rough. Been posting about our course selection alot lately cause it's not been good.

It's cool Elk, he said "no disrespect". I have a thread open here to address some of the comments and feedback: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/6824/spectacle-islandI just don't want to clutter up the locker room with this stuff and felt is was only fair to plead my case. Thanks for the compliment, means a lot. I don't blame you for not liking the course, I wouldn't put it in my top 5 creations either.

Antonio you could spend a year working on a course, it could be one of the best course designs of the year...and yet some would still complain!! That's the nature of golf designing I guess...it's damn near impossible to please absolutely everyone. For the record I love that you take the time to publish course after course for all our pleasure, thank you.

Just want to say a big well done to my brother mike who looks like he should get his euro card this week after shooting -17 for the first 2 rounds. He has slowly worked his way from cc-d. Hopefully will do me good as i cannot allow him to beat me from now on.

Played the first 2 rounds now, was pleased with both my rounds, shot -14 in rd 1 and -12 in round 2. Round 1 was a nice tidy round but could've been better, missed a short putt on the f9 and another on 18 which annoyed me some what! Round 2 was a funny round, don't think Iv made so many clutch putts ever, on one of the longer par 4s my dog decided to jump n bark while my swing was in motion and it resulted in a 90% drive into the thick rough, now staring at 225 yards to the hole with a 70% lie but after laying up and miscuing my 3rd I sunk a nice long putt for par (fist pump was out!). A few nerves kicked in on the back 9, them Friday pins are pretty scary, I made some silly approach errors but the putter kept me bogey free after 2 rounds so overall I'm happy heard Saturday pins r tricky so I'm going to head out for a few practice rounds first Rd1- 58 (-14) Rd2- 60 (-12)

After a disappointing 1st round of -4, I figured that I would have to get to at least 12-14 under to have a chance at the cut. So the esctasy and agony of my 2nd round. I grinded through 14 holes and was -6. Still a chance, I thought. At the 15th par 5, I hit a three wood to 5 feet and made the putt for eagle. Well now -8 for the round and -12 for the tourney. At the par 3 16th a hit, what I thought was a great shot but the wind increased a few notches and I carried to the hole and it trickled by, what I thought would be a 15 footer. Well I was wrong as the putt rolled off a 3 foot cliff and rolled and rolled until it got 1 inch from the fringe.
This left me with a 60 foot putt up a 3 foot slope. Well the putt got to the top of the slope and trickled back almost to my feet. Agony. My next putt rolled into the fringe and I chipped in from 5 feet for a double bogey and back to -6. End of tourney for me. The golf gods can be cruel even in a video game. Enjoyed the course but I felt like 16 was an unfair pin placement but thats the way it goes ( could have overcome this with better course management ). A -10 for the midway and home I go as I will miss the cut.
Good luck to all who will play the weekend.

Whew, was able to late register. Didn't know that was a thing. Now I'll be watching the cut line. I think I'm out but hard to tell.
