In short, my controller, which I bought used, is pretty shot. It's an XBox 360 which I use for PC.
I hear talk about straight shooters being illegal so i don't want to get a controller that's illegal. Is the XBox Eilte Controller, which goes for $150, a legal controller? Before I go out and get it and then find out I can't use it for the tour, I want to make sure it's legal.
Thanks.

It would depend how you set it up using the app, I tried playing the game with mine but have gone back to playing with my original controller. The sticks are either too long or too short and I never set it up to use the axis control as that would be illegal.

When you say the sticks are too long or short, you mean they're not the same size as the stock XBox 360 controller that I have? That would suck because I am used to that length.

In my opinion the XBox elite shud be banned as it allows players to adjust thumbstick sensitivity...that alone shud be enough for it to be banned.

And if not, what happens if I were to get it and then in the future they decide to ban it? I'd essentially be out $150 and would still need to get a new controller because this one is in bad shape.

As far as im aware its not banned...but tat doesn mean it wont be banned in the future.....i suspect a few players use them but as to what u can get away wit in terms of the API I hav no idea.

Yeah there are three different stick lengths you can use and I found them different to the standard controller, also one of them has rounded tops so your fingers can slip off. If anyone uses the ability to restrict the axis it will show up on the api,if I'm gonna win something I want to win fair. There are controllers for PS4 that can do that and they have been out longer, how would you know someone wasn't using one of those unless they said so.

Well, then in my opinion, as soon as this controller was available, it should have been banned if it's in some gray area. It's certainly not fair to players who got one from the very beginning to all of a sudden be told they can't use it. You slide down a dangerous slope when you say "this is okay" one minute and "this is not okay" the next. To be on the safe side, I will pass on getting one. But I still need a new controller and have no idea what to do. I'd like something that will at least last me more than a few months.

I do not think that you can ban a particular controller. Is it possible to check which controller anybody uses? On the other hand I think that it is the approach shots and the putting that matters. I own two XBox 360 controllers. With one of them my straight shooting is pretty good. With the other one its, hmm let's say descend.

Its not about how big your stick is, its what you do with it that matters.

Well, I discovered today that I have been using a terribly worn controller all this time. Just got a new XBox 1 (was using a 2nd hand XBox 360) and this thing is smooth as butter. It is like night and day. Now I just have to get used to the new controller and the new technique I've developed for it since it is so easy to swing with. I've gone from index finger and thumb, "dragging" the stick back and forth to just thumb on the top and letting it "glide" through the zone.
I think this will make a difference in my game, finally.

Yes, ban all controllers that smurfbalde doesn't approve. I'm sure the TGCTours staff really wants to spend their time policing what controllers people use. If someone is hitting a bunch of straight shots then report that person and someone can look into it. But trying to police the type of hardware someone is using is a fool's endeavor. If someone really needs to cheat at video game golf where the top prize is more video game money than other video game golfers get, then fine. That person might be beating me at TGC but they're way behind in life.
