There are only 3 green firmness settings: Soft, Medium, Firm. Could you explain this to me? Are you talking about when you set up a tournament (never tried that), because in my course designer for PC it does not work like. Unlike green speed, despite having a nice dial that gives the impression that there are lots of possible settings for firmness, unfortunately, there are really only three settings. If you set the dial between 8:00 and 10:30, you end up with soft. From 10:30 to 1:30 ends up with medium, and past 1:30 ends up with concrete. The result of this is that adjusting the dial from 11:00 to 1:00 has no effect, but adjusting from 1:00 to 2:00 is like night and day.

Ah okay now I get it - yes, it is not really a clear graduale progression. Thanks.

I'd heard round 3 was hard. Harder pin positions and high wind. Expectations were low. Under par sounded like a good score. I certainly agreed with others when I struggled to make par on the first. I managed to keep it together. -2 after 5, a good flop in on the 3rd. 5 pars in a row left me in a comfortable position. When I birdied 11 I really though a special round might be on the cards, holes 13 to 16 normally offer good birdie opportunities. Unfortunately a bogey on 12 really knocked me back and I wasn't able to get it back on the par 5 13th. I was lucky to make par actually. I tried to hit it through the trees on the 2nd but smacked into a one. A par was a lucky escape. Good birdies on 14 and 15 but a missed chance on 16 put me back in a good position. -4. From there I was happy to make pars and see the round out. Unfortunately I left a huge putt on 17 and although I got it to 6 or 7 feet I missed the putt somehow. That was the only really frustrating part of my round. I did manage a tricky par on the 18th. Happy to grab a -3 in those conditions and I'm guessing it'll keep me in and around the top 25. 4th round coming next. I've no idea what target to set myself. Can I finish off what has been a good week?

Good luck in round 4. Round 3 was a real white knuckle ride to the finish. Sounds like you'll bounce back in round 4, the winds died down some though the pins were still in some tough spots for the firm greens.

Well could I complete my first solid week for weeks?
It started off well with a birdie on the first, another one on my favourite 5th (4th birdie) and confidence was high. I had also missed 2 other good chances. Bogey on 8th was followed by 2 birdies, bogey on 12th was again followed by a birdie. I went in the water on the 12 but managed to pitch it close enough although I was still nervous about the double. I was bouncing back well. If I could keep that up top 25 would be a really good possibility. Maybe top 10 if I could put a good run together. 5 holes left. A disappointing par on 14 put the pressure on the 15 but the pressure told as I found the bunker with my long approach shot. Still though, a birdie was possible. Flopping it in from the bunker was a huge bonus, my shot of the round and at -5 I was in good shape. I should have birdied 16 but got too cute with the approach. I left it in the bunker short. Unbelievably I almost flopped in again! I was happy to take par in the end. 17 had turned into my nemesis and my third bogey out of 4 rounds was a blow I would not get up from. 18th was impossible, again too cute, again bunker but this time I didn't even get it out. I almost missed the bogey putt but just made it. So a round of -3 but I wish I could wipe out the last 2. I'm not sure if that will cost me anything. I'm predicting 25th to 28th place. I enjoyed playing a course like this where under par feels good. I wouldn't want to play these every week mind. Hopefully Moe has mixed it up!

Watchersday night report under 4 hours on the clock
-12 is still the watcher safe zone!
-11 has a 76% chance
-10 has a 35% chance.
I have set up shop outside the score hut with a beer in one hand and a 7 iron in the other. Going by some of my golf this week even if I swung it at a watcher a bad graze is probably the only injury they would suffer.
Any of the other 14 lads in the -10 club are more than welcome to join me!
Bring a picnic basket it'll be a long night !!!

Well that was unexpected! Happy out though !!! Ten in a row Tough course all around. Looks like my predictions are going to be way off on the top end: Winner: -39 Top 5: -34 Top 30: -26 Cut-line: -12 Cut line may be my only prediction that's within 2 strokes this week. Was the last round much easier than the third? Seems like the average of the top 10 guys in round 3 was only a 5 under.

Yeah man it never happens to me either any time I have been down there on the line the watchers have taken me out at the last minute. Our friend Moe Slorkman has escaped numerous times on the line, some say he has a deep understanding of the watchers as he himself used to be one

Well done to all the Webbers up on exemptions this week, canthitstraight, Jordan, Staypuft, Ciaran Quinn and gavlaar124 (Official congrats as we already knew from your shoe cleaning jibes you had made it ) and also anyone else I can't remember. I'm sure you will all do well up in PGA/Euro as you showed in here you had the skills anyway. I see canthitstraight settled in nicely in PGA anyway not only did he get in there first to create his spoiler thread but he gave me a giggle by calling out Doyley as an elite watcher

With all of these great players going up to Euro/Web you would think it would get easier here but it doesn't!!! New names just appear at the top instead!

I am surprised to be hanging on to the lead at this point. Round 3 really was a struggle for all apparently. It's going to be a long 24-40 hours waiting to see the final numbers come in. I checked the scorers tent but the only 1 there was Moe Slorkman passed out with a 7 iron and a Miller Light in his hands. Might be my last shot to pick up a win for long time since I'm taking a shot with exemptions the next 2 weeks. Good luck in round 4 everybody!
