Hope they straighten things out and give you your exemption. I still have a strike that should be gone so last week was really messed up.

I hope they don't straighten it out....I finished T11...I really don't want an exemption on a formality..I want to earn it.

I think most of use our thumb or fingers on the stick. If you were using your nose or feet then I can see why you had trouble. I completely changed my technique off the drive. I won't go into details as far as what I did. Let's just say it is a complete 180 from the way I used to do it.

Well up in here on exemption but I'm not holding my breath this week. With Stevens and Samson coming out the gate with a -10 and -9 also on exemption, I doubt I'll pull it off. I haven't played an official round yet but played a couple rounds of Pablo's practice setup. Wasn't very impressed with myself as I put up a -2/-2 for the first two rounds but I'll blame the whiskey on those haha. Anyway, I'm going to go in with a care free attitude and, who knows, maybe I'll finally post that -double digit round . I'll post'em later.

Well, I've practiced enough. I have my swing back and if the winds aren't too bad I can do 9 under on day 3. Not sure of the rest. Doubtful I'll keep my exemption with the scores this class is putting up but what the heck. I'm going in and let the chips fall where they may. Will report back with my scores when I'm done.

Round 1 - 4 under. Pleased with my play. Clean drives. Putter a little cold but for the most part, I did what I normally do under these conditions.
Round 2 next.

Round 2 - Even par. Again, pleased with my play. Less than 100% drives caused the problem. Am so relaxed with my drives now that sometimes I don't follow through hard enough. Need to work on that with my new swing.
Round 3 next.

Round 3 - 2 under. Again, pleased with my play. Putting did me in with a number of missed putts by inches including a 37 footer that I missed by 9 inches. So I need to work harder on my putting and reading the greens. At this stage, shouldn't be missing putts between 5 and 7 feet.
Anyway, dinner break and then on to the final round.

Power through the tourney my friend. As I've frequently stated, putting is my Achilles heel too.....and math which apparently a lot of you guys are good at. I was a Poli Sci major damnit!!! Anyway Im about to punch out and head home. Gunna Tee it up as soon as I poor a drink and get my comfy clothes on.

Round 4 - 73 for 1 over. Probably the screwiest round of golf I have ever played in my life. One pitch of about 15 yards from the pin, hit the pin and ended up coming back to me traveling a net of 3 yards. The most unlucky break I've ever had playing this game. That was essentially my 1 over for the round. I did make an 84 yard birdie as well. Had numerous putts miss but 3 to 6 inches. Pleased with my driving and course management. Was the most relaxed tourney since starting this. Nerves never played a part. Just a lot of near misses that could have gone either way.
So I finished 5 under for the tournament and will be back in Class E next week where I belong. I'm comfortable there and feel I can compete there. I just hope there isn't a lot of bouncing around between E and D but I feel that's going to be unavoidable as I expect to make a lot of top 10 finishes in the future.
Okay, what I still need to work on.
1) The reason I miss so many putts by inches is because many of them are from beyond 4 feet. I need to work on my approach shots getting them even more close to the pin. That means getting a better handle on the winds and elevations as well as the loft percentages. I realize that now we're up to the micromanaging stage but that's what separates the men from the boys. It's all in the math.
2) I need to slow down and actually read the greens before making my approach shots to see where the trouble spots are. A lot of my bad shots could have been avoided if I knew that, for example, hole 17 had a steep slope in the front and that I needed to make sure I didn't lay up too short.
3) I need to pay more attention to the ghost balls of the better players to see how they're making their shots and what part of the fairways and greens they shoot for. I realize I can't get data like club and loft selection but watching their shots will still help a lot. I started doing this in this tournament, to see if certain shots cleared water as an example, and it was very helpful.
4) Practice, practice, practice and practice some more. It is only through repetition that I'm going to get better. Since changing my driving technique, I have done it so many times now that I don't have to think about it except to make sure I follow through enough so that I don't have 94% shots off the tee. They can sometimes really do you in.
As for this course, it was tricky. A bad shot, even if not overtly bad, like a pull into the rough, can turn the hole bad. Like for example, not judging the roll well enough and ending up hitting the fairway where you intended but still rolling into the rough or sand. Very easy to do with this course. Greens were all very hard, thus requiring the best approach shot as possible.
If I had to pick the worst part of my game, it's not putting. In fact, considering how long some of my putts are, it's actually a good part of my game. The worst part of my game is my approach shot. Many shots that shouldn't be farther away than 4 to 6 feet end up 10 to 12 feet away and those are just too difficult to make. If I can just get closer to the pin, my scores will go down. Duh! I think that's probably most players' biggest problem though admittedly I'm guessing.
Anyway, looking forward to being back in E Class next week. It was fun visiting with you guys but I'm not ready to stay here just yet.
