Round 6 Crawford Mines 63
What was the highlight of your round/tournament? My iron play. What was the low-light of your round/tournament? Triple bogey on 16 killed what could have been a sub 60 round. What did you think of the course? If CSU is really gone he will be sorely missed. How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? 5th (-8). Was trying to beat Steve2, but my triple on 16 killed that. Do you think -30 will be enough to secure a PGA card. I sure hope so, but there a lot of great players still out on the course.

Round 2 - The Club at Whispering River (66, -6)
Highlights? Finished birdie-eagle to salvage a round filled with near misses.
Lowlights? Aside from missing at least 4 birdie putts by less than an inch, on hole 14 my approach went left into the valley of death. Figured I could flop it up and down for par but my flop barely reached the crest and I walked away with my sole bogey for the round.
Liking the course? The design is fantastic as it makes you think and offers multiple options on how to attack the course. Took me awhile to adapt to the slow greens.
Is 9 under after 2 rounds enough padding for the tougher courses to stay in the hunt for a tour card? Not for me...my true lack of skill is just waiting to show up. Kind of hoping it does as I don't belong on the top tour seeing the way some are dismantling these courses, I'm just not in the same league.

Round 3 - Copper Creek National (73, +2)
Happy to have completed my third round of the Q-School, it was a bit of a wait to complete the round after being put off by my few practice rounds here at the tricky Copper Creek course. I had good conditions for my round but two bogeys and a double littered my Front 9 and threatened to blow my score out but two birdies in the beginning of the Back 9 restored my score to a respectable total which was kept at that with par being the story for the remaining holes.
Disappointed to have come up agonisingly short for a birdie on the 5th hole, had noted the green was significantly slow. Happy to move on and keep in contention for a possible Web.com Tour card.

*Chris comes in wearing his street clothes (work slacks and dress shirt to be specific) looking oddly out of place at a golf tournament*
"Phew, what a tournament!"
We see you signed your last 2 scorecards of Q School last night? Care to tell us about the rounds? "I did indeed. I will admit I only played a pair of practices rounds at Kodiak last week. I don't want to stir up any controversy, but I just do not like that course at all. I was very happy to shoot -3 with so little preparation. I followed up that solid round with a very mediocre -3 at Crawford Mines. I've gone pretty low there in practice rounds, but I couldn't do the same when it mattered. I think I was too greedy with my approach shots and didn't pull them off well enough."
That leaves you at... *checks his updated press guide* ...-22 for the tournament? How do you feel about that number? "-22 is right. I have mixed feelings about it. I came in thinking I could shoot -30. I'm not too far below that target number, but I did it in a really unexpected way. My game plan was to grab a few on Yeti, go low on Whispering River and Crawford Mines, and then just try to survive Son Gual, Copper Creek, and Kodiak. Instead I squandered opportunities on the 2 easier courses and was forced to make up for it on the tough ones. Overall I'm a bit disappointed but I'm happy to get to sit back now and see where I end up."
Do you think you'll make the PGA tour, your tour of choice? "I'd like to. That was my goal. I think it will be pretty cool to play in the first season of the PGA. I know I can't compete with the big dogs on tour, but it will be fun just to go out and try to make a few cuts; see if I can sneak into the top 20 in a couple of tournaments. I think that my score is good, I just don't know if it is good enough to be one of those inaugural 125. I hope so."
What was the highlight of the tournament for you? "Easy! Shooting -9 at Son Gual when I really needed a good round. If I can break the illusion for just a second, that was one of the most rewarding moments for me in a video game ever."
*Reporters look around befudled*
Video game?
What is he talking about?
"Uhhh...I mean it was one of the most rewarding moments for me in my golf career ever."
*2 reporters look at eachother and nod approvingly. 'That's better' the nod says wordlessly.*
What was the low-light of your tournament? "That is a little tougher to answer. There wasn't any one specific shot that I can think back to. I think the low-light for me was the disappointing scores on Whispering River and Crawford Creek. I have scored much better on those courses before. I know I did not approach them properly during Q School. I was so focused on scoring that I got overly aggressive and shot myself in the foot too often. I'll learn from that mental error and improve because of it."
What did you think of the courses? "On the whole I really enjoyed them. I have made comments about my issues with one of them elsewhere, so I'll leave it at that, but overall I think it was a fun mix."
Now the waiting game begins? "Yep. I've got my day job to worry about, but I'll be watching the leaderboards. I think I'll hit up the 19th hole as well. Caught wind of some cigar and booze talk going on in there as I left the locker room. I like cigars and booze."
Thanks for stopping to chat with us. "NO, thank you guys. Taking the time to talk to all the players here, very cool. But...do you guys actually just live in this tent? It is starting to get a little ripe in here."
*The reporters pull at their collars, eyes darting every which way.*
"Nevermind. Let me also thank the TGC Tours crew. Putting on an event this size can't be an easy undertaking and they're doing it quite well. I look forward to playing on whichever tour I end up on and seeing what they have in store for us!"

James LeBlond (eMLBCommish) - Rd 2 Press Conference - 67 @ Whispering River
Mr. LeBlond, what did you think of your second round, and shooting back to back 67s to start Q-School?
"I'm a bit disappointed with the outcome, to be honest. Started with a birdie, and gave it right back with terrible putting on the 2nd. Spent the next 8 holes playing Par Golf, then shoot 5-under to get here. I'm starting very tentative, thinking too much, and leaving myself needing to make too many long putts, or chips off the fringe. Considering I shot 64 in both my practice rounds, I'm personally not happy with this result."
Would you blame your ex-wife this time around?
"Ha...I knew I'd pay for making that comment last round. Thankfully, not this time. She's still a pain in my ass, but has finally agreed to what my proposed compromise was for the holidays. Regardless of my outcome in Q-School, that matters above all else. If there's a PGA Tour Card under the tree for me along with it, so much the better."
You're now -10 through your first two rounds. Are you worried about making the cut?
"Not really. I fall where I fall. I need to play a little better than what I've done, and admit that Son Gual is my biggest concern, as I have played there before and struggled. But right now my focus is on Copper Creek, and having sound course management."
*James gives a look and nod to the TGC Tours PR personnel, indicating he'll take one more question*
Are you worried about the fact that many players are shooting 10 strokes better than you?
"I'm not sure how to answer that question without asking you if you ever worry about someone doing press conferences better than you do. I'm a bottom line kind of guy when it comes to this tournament. Do I care about who's above me? Sure, I want to finish tops all the time. I want to be consistent and a player to watch. But there's 250 cards at stake for the Elite, and every single one of us gets one Card. Adam Birch...Chris Bird...anyone else above me...they can only take one Tour Card home with them. There's no extra points, or money to be made here. The objective is simple. Play smart golf, stay focused, limit your mistakes. I can only affect my own results, and that's the only way to look at it."
*James looks around, thanks the audience for the opportunity, and departs the press tent*

Uproar here in the press tent as British rookie SMorris (better known a Sam) came in after his final round and made a beeline for fellow competitor Chris Neyman.
Squaring up to the American, he was heard to shout something about replacing a divot before planting a devastating punch to his face.
Storming out, pushing his way past frantic reporters trying to get a scoop, Smorris suddenly turned to the stunned crowd and proceeded to belt out The 1977 Queen song "We Are The Champions" .........
It's believed he was making reference to the 2015 Champions golf tour in which he'll be partaking after finishing QSchool with a total of 28 over par.
Obviously we'll bring you more on this as we get it..............

Just finished at a 67 at Copper Creek. Should have been writing a paper but oh well
Welcome to the press tent for the third round of the 2014 TGCTours Q-School Ross, What was the highlight of your round? Having five birdies in six holes (5-10) including a crazy roll back on the 8th it was, I believe.
What was the low-light of your round? You know I would say it was making a bogey at 12, but that's a tough hole with the wind in your face. I bailed out to the left to avoid the water and caught the downslope into the rough. The real lowlight was missing a three foot birdie putt at sixteen. That one just hurt. I was counting my chickens before they'd hatched.
What did you think of the course? Coming into the tournament, I think everyone knew this would be one of the tougher courses in q-school, and one that everyone was just trying to avoid a blow-up on. While it's true that course was difficult, the grounds crew and the tour commissioners definitely softened it up a bit for this week. Some of the landing areas seemed a bit wider and flatter than they have been in the past.
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? I was outside of the top ten on the leaderboard for my qualifying group (ps4) but I was really just focused on myself. As long as I shot a negative number I was going to be happy. Hopefully I can continue the good form I've shown through the first half and make it to the PGA Tour. I'm looking forward to playing so slick and firm greens tomorrow at Son Gual.
Thanks for the questions and I'll see you after the next round.

Round 3 - Copper Creek - 67 (-4)
How was the golf out there today? This was only my 2nd look at Copper Creek and my previous +1 there told me to treat it with respect. I bogied #3 and with 9mph winds decided to call my late night round due to darkness and resume in the morning. It turned out to be a great call as I birdied the next 3 holes this morning and finished with a great round for me.
You missed some fairways leaving some tough approaches out of sand and heavy rough. Yeah it could have spelled disaster but I kept my wits and stuck to my conservative game plan by avoiding taking hero shots. Just licked my wounds and played for pars on those.
How does it feel to be at -13 halfway into Q-School? I've far exceeded my expectations thus far but refuse to allow overconfidence to creep in. If anything I am going to clamp down even more conservatively and sacrifice tee distance for accuracy, avoid water at all costs, and aim for the fat parts of greens. While I do have more cushion to meet my goal of an even par finish, there are still plenty of chances to blow up on a hole or two..or three, or...

R3 - Copper Creek 64 (-7)
What was the highlight of Round 3 at Copper Creek? There were no real highlights - just solid safe bogey free golf. Winds were down so I left a few shots out on the course but overall it was a safe round that helped me keep pace with the leaders. Making a 16 foot putt for birdie on the 18th was a nice way to end the round.
What was the low-light of your round/tournament? The putter was generally online but there were a few questionable approach shots under 45 yards that I normally have no problems with. Just a couple of minor mental mistakes that cost me a few strokes.
What did you think of the course? Copper Creek has always been one of my favourite courses. You really have to manage it well to score low. Shaping shots off the tee is a must on some holes and shot execution is a priority on every shot you take. Great course!
How did you fare on the leaderboard? Who were you trying to beat? Like everyone else, I'm chasing Adam Birch who's having a fantastic first half of Q-School. I have yet to gain any ground in any rounds but at the same time, I haven't shot myself out of contention yet either. Very happy with my position at the halfway point and with two more very difficult courses to follow, it's time to make a move!

Mark is the rumor true we saw you out there drinking beer while playing your final two rounds?
Yes you are correct! Since the 1st 4 rounds I feel secured me a Tour Card I decided to enjoy the final two rounds with some good brew, and some bourbon. The weather was great and I enjoyed myself with no more stressful rounds. That 3rd round Copper Creak will put you in an insane asylum - whew, glad that is over with! Been stressing over Q-School for over a month.
Skoal everyone!

Someone get me some water! My caddie ran out of gatorade on the 13th hole. I'm glad to make it back to the clubhouse with a 73 (+1) out there in the desert.
What was the highlight of your round? Would have to say that knocking down the flagstick from the sand on 12 after going bunker bunker was the highlight. That was my only birdie of the round, and the worst hole that I played. Go figure.
What was the low-light of your round? Watching approach shots land 10 yds in front of the green and roll into the rough. Tough conditions out there. It was like my golf balls turned into bouncy balls midflight.
What did you think of the course? I know there's been a drought in this part of the country. The eco-mentalists are slamming greenskeepers for being wasteful, but honestly, those greens could use some water.

James LeBlond (eMLBCommish) - Rd 3 Press Conference - 66 (-5) @ Copper Creek
Mr. LeBlond, you've been pretty consistent thus far, posting your third straight round of 5-under in Q-School. What are your thoughts?
"I'm worried you guys might start assuming I'm going to shoot nothing but, which wouldn't be a bad thing, but it was not my intention to come here and be dubbed "5-under LeBlond".
We saw that you had that terrific pitch shot on the 7th for an Eagle. Walk us through that.
"Yeah, I shaped my shot on that short Par 4, and just got past that last bunker on the right. Had a nice flat area, and I just wanted to bump it close. I feel pretty good with my short game, and that was one instance I just nailed it from a little over 50 yards away."
What would you consider your disappointments this round?
"That I immediately went bogey on the 8th, losing any momentum the Eagle gave me. I had been -3 through 7, and proceeded to only go -2 the rest of the round. I'm still fighting my swing a bit, not managing the course as best as I should. Fairway bunkers are too involved in my rounds right now. I almost splashed down on 14 with a terrible second shot. I was very fortunate to have a solid approach shot from the rough, leaving myself with a 9 footer that I got for birdie.....Last question, please."
Mr. LeBlond, you've been on record as saying you're not comfortable with Son Gual. What are your expectations there, and are you concerned going into your next round?
"Any golfer who tells you they're not concerned is selling you a bill of goods. You just have to focus on the moment, visualize your shot, and execute. While Son Gual is not my favorite course, I still feel I can shoot under par there. Whether or not I'll have a 4th straight round of 5-under is another story. I roughly know where I am on the Leaderboard, and complacency is not an option. You can't show up for half a tournament and expect it's enough. I'll battle until my final putt on the 18th at Crawford, and see if that was good enough to get the job done.
Thanks, everyone."

So you have played four rounds so far, lets go through them, Mt. Yeti was the first, how you do?
Mt. Yeti was my first competition in quite a while so I had a few butterflies stirring and by the time I made the turn, I was Even. I managed to calm down and birdied five of the next 9 holes for a 67 (-5). I was okay with it being the first round.
Okay what about Whispering River? I felt I left a lot of shots on the course. I know I should be happy with my 63 (-9), but it was one of those rounds that everything was clicking and just a couple of puts lipped the hole. Still -14 under after two is respectable.
Copper Creek was next up. We have seen that this course has cause quite the stir amongst many players, how did you do? Honestly I don't remember much of this round. I remember I was -4 after 6 or 7 holes and absolutely in the zone. I then got to a par 3 and as i hit my tee shot, it seemed to be heading right for the green, then I blacked out. Someone said an errand ball struck me but i don't remember hearing anyone yell "fore!" I watched the replay and apparently my shot went over the green by 60 yards and into the water. I didn't know i could hit that club that long, but the replay looks like I had a driver in my hand. I have no idea what happened. I took a quadruple bogey on that hole. Well i regathered myself and next thing i knew i was back to -4 coming up on 16 or 17, once again, I'm a little fuzzy. I remember hitting an approach shot, thinking i went long when everything went black again. This time when i came back, My ball was about 4 feet from the pin. How this happened I have no idea, as I was still wondering why people don't yell "fore" louder. So i went to put my ball and for some reason I apparently thought i was chipping cause i took a full follow through and suddenly my ball is down the hill and off the green. My shot hit before the pin and it spun back off the green. My next shot, about 15 feet behind the pin and it spun back off the green and into the bunker. I felt like i was in the twilight zone..another quadruple bogey after being 4 feet for a birdie. I think I passed out again on my way to the next tee, but in the end i ended up shooting a 73 (+2). It is frustrating when I was really -8 with two really weird, unexplainable holes.
Maybe you should stop drinking before rounds. Anyway you played Round 4, how that go? Son Gual is a beast. The desert makes everything so dry, stopping anything on the greens within 10 feet is near impossible. I changed my strategy a bit and hit longer clubs with more loft and that did help a bit, overall I made some really good putts down the stretch and finished with a 66 (-6).
So that puts you at -18 through four. Do you think you have a shot to get into the tour? After three rounds i'm still in the top 100 and I think my -6 in the fourth round will be above average so I think I'll gain a little with that round. Overall it is a competitive field and If i can get another -5 to -10 in the last to rounds I think i'm safe inside the top 250, hopefully top 100
Last question, next up is Kodiak. Have you started practicing and if so, what do you think? Fast greens with severe slopes, there are going to be several holes you'll definitely want to hit short of the green for a bounce or two. Even then it will punish you when you miss the fairway so your scramble game needs to be good and your putting has to be on with the slopes. I've played two rounds there in practice and have been under par each time, but that is all I'll say at this time.
Thank you very much.
