Frustrated with my play of late, just for the heck of it, I went back and played the first course of October's Q School where I shot +83 for the tourney.
My score for the first course was +15. Yeah, I was really bad. In fact, I got to play against my ghost player who couldn't putt to save his life. One hole I 4 putted. FOUR PUTTED.
My score today?
Even par. I didn't even find the course all that hard.
Why am I bringing this up?
When I finished with Q School, where I averaged about +14 for each round, meaning this course was one of my worst ones, I somehow qualified for D Class.
Not Z Class
Not even E Class
D Class
Now, I am fighting to keep out of dropping to Z Class.
No, not fighting to stay out of dropping to E Class.
Z Class.
What is wrong with this picture?
If you take my score and even it out over the 6 rounds, I probably would have been placed in A class.
Certainly I would have done a lot better than qualifying for D Class.
And yet, here I am fighting to stay out of dropping to Z Class.
That tells me something is seriously, and I mean SERIOUSLY wrong with how Q School is evaluated.
Either there aren't enough classes or people are sandbagging in order to get placed lower to win tourneys or the criteria for placing into classes isn't strict enough or whatever. But something is SERIOUSLY wrong.
I have (imagine my surprise) improved dramatically. Of course that's not saying much considering how bad I was. I mean how can I shoot +15 then and even par now and end up in a WORSE class than what you put me in to begin with?
Something is wrong. And I mean in a big major way.
And it needs to be addressed and fixed so that future new players don't end up going through the same frustration that I'm going through now. Because yes, I would have rather I'd been evaluated properly in the first place and put in Z class than go through the frustration of starting out "high" (that's a laugh), improve my game, and yet STILL end up close to falling into the basement class. This way, I would have had something to shoot for. Get out of Z class and see if I can make it to E. That would have been exciting.
Instead, what am I shooting for now? Just trying to get back to where i was put in the first place.
It's frustrating and demoralizing and makes me want to just quit.
Fix Q school evaluations before you lose a lot of other people.

So... let me see if I understand you correctly. You want to change q-school so that it predicts everyones improvement rates as well as taking into consideration as of how long someone has played the game before going to q-school?

Can you do everyone a favour and either quit instead of threatening it or stop posting. Every single day over the past 2 weeks practically every thread has had you whinging and moaning about something or another. You have posted in multiple spoiler threads about yuchi b%&ing about it and are once again accusing players of cheating. Other players have gone out of there way to help you as well and you don't seem to take the advice. If you don't like the game don't play it, it's that simple

All I'm saying is something doesn't wash. I'm a numbers guy. And if I shoot +83 and get put in D Class and improve my game by 15 strokes and I'm a week away from dropping into Z Class, something is very, very wrong with the system.
Of course nobody will concede that so why not just blame it on the person complaining.
It's a lot easier than admitting when a system isn't working.

Let me just clearly state my objection so everybody understands it.
At +83 for the tourney, I should have been put in Z Class right from the start. I had no business being in D Class with that score.
That is my problem. The evaluation process is faulty and needs to be corrected.

January 15'th is my one year anniversary here. I don't remember my Q-school score, around +63 or something. I was placed in the now defunct Champions B tier. I earned a promotion to Champions A, one tier below Web C (i think, there were several Web's at the time) In the restructuring to the Challenge I was placed in C. EARNED (yes earned, due to shitty play) a demotion to D where I reside now. Sometimes barely avoiding another demotion due to MY PLAY. If I thought for a minute there was any shady goings on, sandbagging, favoritism or whatever, I would have been out of here long ago. Kind of gets my back to the wall seeing such accusations to be honest.
You seem like a nice guy so I'm not trying to attack or anything. Stick with it, you will have that one good tournament where you build some confidence and build upon that. I understand it's demoralizing, I get that, it is for me too at times.

You need to realize how incredibly difficult it is to choose courses that will determine exactly where you should be placed coming out of Q-School. We have been looking at new Q-school courses for the past six months. We should have a brand new batch of Q-School courses ready to go for Jan. 1. Stay tuned.

You're not understanding my objection. I shot +83. That is HORRIBLE. I had NO business being put in D Class to begin with and quite honestly, I expected to be put in the lowest class available with that score. Now, after having improved considerably, I'm fighting just to stay in E class. I went from shooting +15 to even par at the first Q School course. So how does that make me a WORSE player now than when I first started in D Class? The math doesn't make sense. NONE of it makes any sense,. No more than if I had started shooting 30 over par and went from D Class to B Class. All I am saying is the system for initial evaluation is flawed. I should have never been put where I was put in the first place. Had I been put in Z where I belong, I'd be perfectly content with trying to fight my way up to E and instead of being discouraged I'd be encouraged. Toughen up the initial evaluations. That way the better players actually DO end up in the higher classes and not some schmuck like me who got tossed out of D Class so fast it made my head spin. Fix the system.

Except with everything being relative, the course doesn't matter. If I shot +15 in October and shooting par now, I've obviously gotten better and shouldn't be on the verge of dropping into Z Class after starting in D Class. Yes, that course, as good as I've gotten, is not really that hard. But my God, that's how HORRIBLE I was when I first started playing this game. So how is it that I've gotten that much better and yet I'm moving down in the classes? Again, it makes no mathematical sense. I pride myself on my logic and this whole scenario has me totally bumfuzzled. Something is very, very wrong.

Sounds to me like you aren't having any fun wagtunes.. I've had a blast getting my brains beat in by the best players in this game.. Want to see how you stack up? Play the PGA tourney for this week or the Euro tourney.. Your scores wont count but it's still fun to play the same tourney and see how you do against those guys.. So your getting your @&& handed to you on CC-D right now.. Nobody is pointing and laughing at you.. Nobody cares.. It's a game and it's supposed to be fun, friendly, competition..

That is my problem. The evaluation process is faulty and needs to be corrected. I'll explain this to you again. I started this game in July...went through Q-School and was placed in CC-D...as score much like yours..I think I was +87 or something like that. Out of Q-School...I was you...well...I eventually figured out after a couple of weeks the problem was me and not the game or the player's around me. You haven't quite reached that point yet I don't think. I played 3 tournaments in CC-D and was quickly demoted to CC-E. Look at my career stats..the story tells itself. I hung around in CC-E for 6 or 7 tournaments but I still didn't belong...I sucked at the game and I knew it. I hit rock bottom...I was on my way to CC-Z..I thought people were straight lining..sand bagging...cheating...everything you mention..then I realized..."nope...Jim..you just suck". That was when I started adding some friends on Steam..and following their ghost's and playing side by side with them and really paying attention to the game. You have to improve..and to do that you have to completely hit rock bottom and get that kick in the ass wake up call. You can do it and realize it's you or you can continue to blame everyone, the game, the system and the scoring. Your call.

You had no business being put in D Class with scores that bad. I'm not complaining because I'm bad at this game and deserve to be in Z Class. I know I'm bad at this game. I know I deserve to be in Z Class. What I'm saying is I should have been in Z Class ALL ALONG. Why is this so hard to understand? The initial evaluation system is too lax. It should be harder. If you shoot +83, you have no business being put in D Class, And yes, I saw your score on this course as you were one of the ghost players. I blew you and everybody else out of the water today playing that course again. So how is it I'm actually getting worse in the rankings? Had I been put in Z Class to begin with, this thread would not exist. The system has a problem with initial evaluation that needs to be addressed.

Okay, since nobody is understanding my point (I don't care that I'm getting my ass kicked) I might as well just give up. I thought I was making my point very, very clear but obviously I haven't. No point in continuing this.

And I have no problem with THE game. My problem is that I has my hopes raised by being put in a class that I had no business being put in. Had I been put in Z, I'd have something to shoot for now. it WOULD be fun to see if I can get into E. Now I'm just trying to get back to where I started. THAT'S what's not fun. THAT'S what's demoralizing. And had the system been more strict from the start, this wouldn't have happened.
