Well. Didn't score well enough on my exemption to stay in CC-D but not bad overall: 66-68-64-67 for a -23 altogether. Hopefully I will find my way back to CC-D but for now back to the CC-E grind. 23 under dropped you to E? Seriously? Damn, I'm gonna be stuck on E for eternity. Oh well, it beats getting demoted. For example wag, I jumped from Q-school to CC-D. My first tournament was in the last week of august. My three first tournaments ended in demotion strike. Three and out, to CC-E. Since then, there I am, quite settled. Without being a methodic person in terms of "improving", just now I'm starting to feel my game is becoming more consistent. If I were a methodic person (I.E phlyerphanatic) probably I'd be a couple of flights higher. But who cares, my first promotion is arriving. Let it flow, just don't try to be the best out there in the 1st tee. That won't happen, and you will get frustrated. Just have fun, in the first weeks simply don't fix any target, and you'll get the "madurity" needed to see your game improve by itself.

No no no. I am up this week on a sponsor's exemption. I don't think I will finish in the top 3 on CC-D so I will head back down to CC-E next week. I am sure I will have a decent score but not strong enough to stay. I have had an odd history on TGC Tours. When it first came into existence I was a middling Web.com player and then when the reshuffle happened I got put into CC-C. I was mediocre but eventually was pushed to CC-D (amid swing gate) and then simply couldn't get my swing back (straightness) after the correcting patch, so I have ended up in CC-E. The good news, however, is that within the last 2-3 weeks I FINALLY have figured out a grip/swing that allows me to hit straight/stay in the cone. It has resulted in MUCH better placement and a return to the enjoyment I had for the game. I suspect it will be just a matter of time before I get back to the CC-D on a full time basis (and hopefully to the CC-C). With that said, I love love love my time with TGC Tours. Part of me wishes that HB Studios would officially either partner or take over/buy out so that it would become integrated with the game for all players. Those that do not check the forums would probably never know that TGC Tours exists. If they did, they most certainly would play on here which would in turn help sell more copies of TGC. I have made it my private mission to go on any and all "the other golf game" Twitch streams and casually mention both TGC and TGC Tours. So far it has resulted in a few people picking up a copy. Not sure they have jumped on TGC Tours but I hope they do. It is my own random word of mouth advertising method.

With that score, you might be pretty ok, hoser.
"For CC: Top 3 or any exempt player within 10 strokes of the top exempt player."
Don't you think you'll be within 10? Or has someone else above you already revealed to be too good?

Just have fun, in the first weeks simply don't fix any target, and you'll get the "madurity" needed to see your game improve by itself. Thanks. My game is starting to improve. Where bad rounds used to be low 80s, now they're mid 70s. So I'm getting there. Putting is starting to come around and fast greens don't intimidate me as much as they used to now that I'm using the marker the way it's supposed to be used. That alone has made a big difference and has kept my putts, for the most part, within 3 feet of the hole when I miss. I'm still missing too many putts by 3 to 6 inches and that's all from still not quite being able to judge the breaks correctly, especially on sharp breaking greens. Now I find I'm starting to overcompensate and my putts, instead of missing to the left on right to left breaks are missing to the right by inches. So I still haven't zeroed in on that sweet spot yet when aiming but I'm getting there. Actually, I think my bigger problem is my approach shots. In 15 to 20 mph winds I can't seem to get closer than 15 to 20 feet from the pin. On 7 to 10 mph winds, no closer than 7 to 10 feet from the pin. And since I'm not good on long putts yet, because of those breaks, I'm missing a lot of putts simply because I can't get closer to the pin. Winds are without a doubt tough for me, especially the cross winds. Another huge problem is greens where the pin is at the front of the green on long approach shots. There is almost no way to stick that shot any closer then 25 to 30 feet from the pin unless I come up way short and hope the ball bounces out of the rough onto the green, in which cases most times it simply doesn't. So there are a few situations that give me fits but I'm working on them.

Wag I make it short as I'm with the phone... About wind coming toward you, every 1 mph take about 1.8 yeards off from the carry (181 yds become about 172 with 5mph). If the wind is coming straight from behind add about 1 yd per mph to the carry yardage (145 yds with 5mph become 150) plus consider that the roll on the free is longer as the ball is travelling faster...

Another important thing is to use a longer iron and use loft to have shorter rolls...

It's not head and tail winds that give me as much trouble as cross winds. How far right or left to aim my shot from the pin.

I dont want to hijack this thread but i thought since we were telling stories how to improve or not I joined in august wich was 2 early for me i was put in cc-b and i felt really out of place actually i felt like i must have been the poorest person at this game so i left but i played the game though reading doyley's tips watching elite players streams i came back in november and was put in cc-c because i was inactive and now I am in cc-a so there is still hope

If the wind is coming straight from behind add about 1 yd per mph to the carry yardage (145 yds with 5mph become 150) plus consider that the roll on the free is longer as the ball is travelling faster... This is what I use.
If the wind is coming towards you, it is a head wind. You will need to "club up" to add distance. The general rule of headwind is 1:1 plus additional depending which way the wind is blowing. Example: If you are 150 yds out have a straight 6mph headwind into you, you would add 12 to your distance so you would hit for 162 yds. If you are 150yds out and have a 6mph headwind at the SW direction, you would add 9yds to your distance and hit for 159yds.
If the wind is coming from behind you, it is a tailwind and you would take away yardage to decrease distance. General rule is a straight 1:1 if it is a direct tailwind and adjust based on direction (middle at the NW direction would be 50% of wind). Example: If you are 150yds out and have an 8mph tailwind directly at the N position, you would take away 8yds and hit for 142yds. If you are 150yds out and have an 8mph tailwind at the NW position, you would take 4 off and hit for 146yds.
You also have to take into account elevation (divide by 3 and either add or subtract yds).
You also have to take into account rollout depending on wind direction and green firmness (tailwind will make rollout more, headwind less).
The other consideration is club loft. Wind affects wedges and higher lofted clubs less than your lower lofted clubs (time spent in the air affects wind impact). Hitting a SW with a 8mph tailwind will only have a 4 yd difference (in my experience)
Honestly, judging L/R distances in experience. The calculation rule is 1.5 "clicks" per one mph of wind.
This is based on my experience playing the game and what I use. This happens in my head very fast for me now since I have been doing it for awhile. I used to sit there with the yardage sheet and find the exact loft, but now I just move L/R based on feel and loft based on feel and it works out. The only time I look at the yardage sheet is for pitch shots.
