Hi mate - I'm pretty sure no cheating why?
1). If you sandbag then win ur going up a flight. So what's the point
2) think everyone is trying to get to the PGA cause that's where the money is.
Now onto ur improvement!
Ok when I started tgc tours (and I've had game since early steam release- now play on Xbox though) ... Well when I started.. I mainly was doing a lot of guessing. Till I read driving range thread! For tips!
There you will find a chart for distances and some tips for wind! The game is all about dust control! I'll lay out the tips that I use and found helpful!
1). Use a calculator or the chart to work out distances! After a while you'll memorize most of them. For example off the top of my head I know that 75 yards X 85% is 63.1 yards (I think) . This is a pitching example! Get good at this (pitching)
So- at this point with pitching and chipping.. I'm literally reading the green for break. Lofted pitches into the green with a lob wedge will spin back a little.. So I look at the wind and try to land the ball so that when it spins back it might go in the hole... That's right look at the break coming back to the hole. Use a calculator to work out the exact yardage your ball will fly. It's pretty much on. Remember out of the rough.. Won't spin back.. And you have to take the lie yardage into account also.
Chipping- you can hole a lot of these... Wind really effect chips.. So calculate wind + break for your aim! For better chance. Basic rule of thumb:
If 10 yards neutral break- sw
If under 10 - lw
If 15 - pw
Adjust loft a bit here n there to allow for slope against you or away from you.
Distance control with irons!
Well 1) each block of grid is 1. 1 yard. That is 9 blocks = 10 yards!
This is useful if trying to see how much short of pan u can land.. Say over a bunker..
The ball runs out usually. The longer the iron the more roll.
I work off roughly 7-5 iron = 5 yards roll
9-8 - 2 yards
Lw - pw = o yards
Also if into wind the ball won't roll out as much
Into a slop the ball won't roll out as much !
Ok now for winds with irons...- With 5mph with you add approx 1/2 a block loft. , 10 mph - add full ( just under a block). Loft.. After a bit of practise you'll get this down.
Against the wind .. Is less .. But look at the percentages .. Often with short clubs -- percentages change a lot for one block but much less with long irons.
Ok side winds ..
Driver : I fade or draw against the wind: here's how
10 mph side wind- -1/2 block, 20mph side wind just over a block
6-7 mph . - 1/4 block
With irons I do same but add few clicks more as wind effects them
More.
Lies!!!!- When you hit a shot watch the ball land.. Which way did it bounce n roll. This will often indicate your lie .. Ball above or below feet.
If ball is bellow it will start of right n wanna fade a bit
If ball is above it will start off left n wanna draw a bit
This is what I do - Look at lie.. Adjust my aim. Then look at wind and adjust my fade or draw and maybe a tiny bit mor aim.
So yes ther are cases where the wind is coming from the right
And the ball above my feet. If the ball above feet is a lot. Or only a slight wind from right -- I might be aiming left of the flag.
So work out lie first then wind from there!
Very true for this weeks tough track.
Putting read everything - no clear answers.. All I can say is :
1 distance control - most important! Get good at this.. If into a slope I push the market away from me a bit.
If downhill say - 5inches on a 10 foot - I'll put marker at 6 feet away.
Again bit of experimenting.
Putting break- ok this one was tough for meat first ( I'm a golf pro in real life and the way you read break is a little different. I tend in real life to look at the apex of puts about 2/3 the distance to the hole.. Because as the ball slows it breaks more . Puts break like parabolas not symmetrical curves. However in this game it's not the other way around.. So I look 1/2 way to the hole and use that as the furthest point out. It's not perfect but it helped me.
Hope all this helps - see u on the PGA TOUR SOON!
Wait I'm not on that yet ! sh%$ what do I know! Lol
