I played in B on exemption last week and the fate of my potential CC-B card rests on the final score of Dave Newell & possibly William Palmer, if neither shoots better than -59 I'm in!
I decided just to chance my luck and post for B this week without knowing :L
Onto this weeks tournament... for me this course shall henceforth been known as 'Valnope'. Wanna go in putt? NOPE, gonna stop 2 mm short or lip out (Slowest putts I can remember since I started on TGCtours). How about land on this green? NOPE, gonna land well short and roll 15 yards right off the back. Flat lie on the fairway please? NOPE, whats a flat lie? Okay, okay, how about some accessible pin placements? NOPE, gonna stick it close in behind a bunker and make you sweat it out, learn to long putt scrub. (I'm looking at you hole 17)
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it all in a sick twisted way, the course designer has my respect for making such a challenging (for me anyway), course. It really made me appreciate how far on I have come learning this game, in the past shooting over par on reallllly easy courses. Great to have a tricky one this week, especially after last weeks massacre by pretty much every flight on the challenge circuit. Practiced this course about 10 times before I played my rounds and to be honest, not really sure it helped.
ANYWAY, scores and stuff...
67 - 67 - 64 - 64 = -26
Not gonna get me a top 10 whether I play in A, B or C next week. But should be safe from a strike (I hope).
Enjoy the tricky pin placement and gusts of wind and good luck errybody!

Val -annoying. Don't know if I'm having controller issues .. But drives going wayward! And on this course there's no recovery.. No med rough! Annoying.. Shot -2. Shot -8. A bunch times in practice. But wind going totally the other way. When I leave the gates of this track I won't be coming back! Great that it's tough-- but I feel like lies spew balls all over randomly. Even when I'm making adj. might be my controller.. But a little cut here n it's a big slice. Got my work cut out ahead.. Or I'm back in cc-b . But I don't see me doing anything quality here!

Round 2 - a crappy -6. Total -8 so far after 2 . Again weird driver issue. And once in the rough.. 245 to green 45%. That kinda stuff. Call the green keepers n get some fringe on this track! Lol I'm inly bitter cause it's bitting me in the arse!

On all my rounds i noticed that I pretty much couldn't hit my 2nd shot into (I want to say 16th?, long par 4) with any more that 92% power, weird...

Hey guess what Philip? I couldn't really get hot for my remaining 3 rounds so you are a cert to be up in A with your B card firmly tucked in your back pocket. Well done my friend!

Hey guess what Philip? I couldn't really get hot for my remaining 3 rounds so you are a cert to be up in A with your B card firmly tucked in your back pocket. Well done my friend! Aww man what? I thought for sure you were probably gonna go on and win it, at least top 10 I know the feeling about getting hot, sometimes I literally cant even hit a straight drive the entire round, or nothing drops. I seem to just get in the zone sometimes, I try and tee it off then but it feels different when it matters. Going in to a hole thinking, I actually need a birdie here or I'm gonna get way behind etc. I know for a fact you will be up In A soon enough and I can almost guarantee I wont be retaining the A card this week, one of the other exemptions will definitely shoot more than 10 better than my awful -26 :L I had a good run but it ends here though, 3 exemptions on the bounce has let me get a taste of CC-A and guaranteed me a card change from CC-C to CC-B. So I cant complain, hopefully we can both get up to Euro/PGA in the close future! Good luck for this week as well though, prettttty tough!

After last weeks bogey free, double digit rounds, I am expecting things to go back to normal this week. I started by misjudging the wind and playing my approach to long, I also misjudged my first putt and it stopped inches short of the hole, proof things were back to normal. I got off the mark on the second but there was some luck involved, a poor chip left me with a lot of work to do, this time I got the putt right. I picked up another shot on the third before making a right mess on the fourth, I went from bunker to bunker and could not recover for par, my first bogey in over four rounds of tour golf. It had to come at some stage but what a fun run that was. I was happy to walk away with par over the next couple of holes, the played even longer than they were because of the wind, poor club choice meant I failed to hit the green so par was a good result. I birdied the seventh but again made it hard for myself. I was playing ok, but something was missing, I just was not focusing enough, I was making wrong club and shot choices. I think last week and missing out by one shot yet again took more out of me than I thought, I just wanted to play in relaxed mode, a casual round rather than tour round. The front nine finished with two more pars, not great scoring but I have had worse starts.
The back nine started with a birdie. It was very nearly eagle with the ball curling along the lip of the cup. It made me smile, thinking of all the green numbers last week, yes I was definitely in relaxed mode. Time to enjoy the rest of the round for what it is. It felt good to be playing a course that in the conditions some of the holes brought a challenge, while I enjoyed last week, I do think we need a increase in difficulty, to push ourselves as golfers. Anyway, back to my round, two more pars followed. My putt on twelve again stopped one ball rotation short, again through lack of focus, well not lack of focus more to much taking it easy. A straightforward putt on thirteen brought my score to four under. I went five under on the next hole with a ten yard chip in before playing my best approach of the day on fifteen which lead to another birdie. It was not possible to reach the green in two on sixteen, but par was never a issue. I was really starting to enjoy myself now, it's about time we had holes were par is a good result, the next hole being another long par four, brought the same result. I finished up with birdie to finish seven under, this score surprised me a little, it did not feel like that sort of round. Wonder what my score would have been if I had pushed myself. I loved the finishing holes on this course, a birdie felt like a birdie, we need more of this on the challenge circuit. I think this is the best course we have played so far this season, the scoring chances are there but dropped shots are waiting for when errors are made, have fun all.

NOT GOOD! So I shall be back in cc-b next week- was on sponser ex for this on in cc-A . But I can't see total getting me the full card!
Oh well see you boys in Hawaii - think that's where we're headed next week! Lol

I'm hoping to bounce back into CC-B next week after my average attempt to stay up last week.
-39 after four rounds so I'll be surprised if that's not enough for a sponsor.

Ouch. That's a tough track. I'm -5 through 2 round, 69, 70. Not unhappy with the -3 in round 1 as I was +3 through 6. As Philip was saying the greens are amazingly slow. I think I had three 3 putts in a row on the front nine of the first round. And Those two long par 4's on the back 9 that are into the wind, a 4 is basically a birdie!
Need to go super low at least once over those last two rounds to avoid a strike!

I played the 4 rounds. 68-68-67-68 . Total of -17 on the tournament. I played very bad on the approach shots, surprisingly the putter save me most of times. I hope not win a strike at least.

Phew, found some form over the last two round, posted a 66 and 61 to get in at -22. Actually with the field size right now there might not be any strikes...

That was tough, managed a total of -30 after 4 rounds.
Round 1 -6 Round 2 -8 Round 3 -9 Round 4 -7
Missing any fairways is almost golfing suicide on that course, still a thoroughly enjoyable test

Well lads , I'll be back to b after a poor showing in cc-a this week. The sponsors excemptions have obliterated the course in cc-a this week. See u in Hawaii next week after a session with butch Harmon , and a call to the Titleist performance institute !
