Managed a -28 this week and I'm fairly satisfied with the end results, but I really thought I had a shot at top 10 this week. This is my type of course and I feft sooooo many shots out there. Totally choked on the last round. Maybe next week!

I did not get to play my second and third rounds today because of lack of time, pity I still don't have time to write a full report as a lot happened. My goal was seven under for each round and was motoring along nicely under the back nine of round two, I still can't figure out how I ended up in the water but I did, it threw my game completely and I struggled big time, two birdies towards the end redeemed my round a little and I crossed the line four under. My third round my putter took on a life of its on, I cant explain this at all, it's not unusual for me to miss putts from four feet, today, the distance did not matter, if I had a putt, it dropped, I played the round with a shocked stare and a open mouth as birdie after birdie lit up my scorecard for a fourteen under. Considering that was my goal for two rounds, can safely say it was reached. One round to play, and I am scary high on the leaderboard. A top ten is possible as long as I don't lose it completely which knowing me, is always possible.

Great 3rd round, shame you don't have time to fill the details in on here.

Could this be the day I break the curse of one shot, or will one shot come back to haunt me. Last week, one shot let me go to bed thinking I earned a exemption before crushing my dreams Sunday morning. I am in a better position this week, I don't need a sub sixty round, I don't need to take any risks, I just need to play slow and steady, the exemption is with in my grasp, all I need to do is reach out and grasp it tight and I will finally return to the CC-A, for one week if nothing else. Let's see how I got on shall we.
I was nervous heading to the first tee, there is no hiding this time, if I don't finish in the top ten, I will not have any excuses. It's different when a spectacular round is needed, I could say I gave it my best, it's different is playing in a hurricane, I can say the conditions were just to tough, it's all down to me. I stepped up to the first tee, trying not to think to much, drying my sweaty palms on my clothes. After a couple of practice swings, I let fly, straight into heavy rough, god dammit. My second shot was not much better, finding a bunker, not the dream start. Somehow I recovered enough to scramble a par, it was a relief and a warning sign, I needed to focus. A couple of birdies settled my nerves before again I had to fight hard for par on the fourth. I survived a couple of silly mistakes, but to many and I will be caught out. I failed to find the green again on the fifth, no panic this time, I was on the fringe and par was not going to be a issue, in fact it worked out better than I hoped when my pitch curled into the hole at the last second, three under after five, I may not be playing as well as I would have liked but the score was good, I'll take that any day of the week. I played the sixth as well as I could have, a long par four, it was a case of finding the centre of the fairway, the centre of the green and hope the putt would drop, it did, four under. I avoided all the hazards on the seventh which allowed me to have a short pitch for my third, I left myself a seven foot putt but it had little break, five under. I took no risks on eight, I did not play for the hole, safe on the green, safe par. The wind was picking up a little at this stage, nothing strong but just enough to help control my shots, I prefer to play with some wind rather than a calm day. I landed my approach within eight feet, got my read right and finished the front nine on six under and in a exemption spot, the back nine was going to be nerve racking.
A long par five was what I needed to start the back nine, the chances of dropping a shot were slim, I even went ultra cautious on my second to make sure the rough was not going to be in play. I put my third shot three feet from the hole, seven under. I picked the wrong club from my bag on the tenth, thankfully I noticed before I took my shot, I could have been way off the back of the green instead of five feet from the cup, eight under. In round two, I found the water on the twelfth, I was not making that mistake again. Even though it brought a difficult second shot, I was not going to play for distance. I played a three iron to be safe on my approach, it went well beyond the hole but it was safely on the green. I was left with a twenty seven foot putt, slightly down hill, slight right to left break. I hit it a bit to hard but the line was spot in, right into the centre of the cup, nine under. Confidence was high now and that showed on the next hole, I went for distance instead of safety, a risky pitch as my approach, I left myself with a heavily breaking eight foot putt which again found the centre of the cup, ten under. My worst shot of the day followed and I had a forty foot putt for birdie. That was never going to drop, my lag put was good, a safe par. It was to bring it home, the closing holes are long and birdies were going to be hard to come by, I did not need them, so safety first. Despite playing safe, I picked up another shot on sixteen and if I was not safe now, I would never be. I finished out with two pars, I could have birdied the last, missed by inches and in a strang way I am glad I did, it would have brought the one shot curse back, I would have been one shot off being tied for the lead!!
I have to say it, those last two rounds were the best I have played on tour. Low scores with out eagles, I played smart and at times I played brilliantly. I am sitting in second place now, I know that can change but if I finish outside the top ten, I am giving up this game and becoming a monk. It will be difficult next week, I am looking forward to the challenge. Realistically, I will be back here in two weeks, I don't mind that. This week has just showed me that I can compete and that is as good as a reward as any.

Now,just do it again next week and remember you can earn an exemption while on exemption...so be positive out there, the way you've been playing recently...the web tour is not far away! The crowd applauded in unison at the aptly named 'clapper classic' as Dan walked off the 18th and headed to the cabin to sign his card!!

Interesting course and one that I didn't think I'd score well on. Considering I've been having a hard time even breaking into the top 70, I was really surprised to get a top 20. This one really came out of nowhere for me, So I'm going to enjoy it while I can.
