As Bryan mentioned earlier, chipping is a means to advance the ball nearer the hole for me! I can't chip for sh*t! Think I manged 1 chip-in in 36 holes. +2 for 36 should see me healthily near the bottom!

I think higher. Cuts this season will, at least initially, be higher due to the sheer number of advancements. Two weeks in a row I thought I had missed the cut but made it. I was usually bang on last season for the tournaments where I missed the cut. Could be other explanations too.

I'm all up for a challenge, but this is not the right kind of challenge. Too many people will aim for the fringe or rough near the hole for easier chip-in opportunities. I can't stand courses that allow this over and over again.

I can't stand courses that allow this over and over again. I think setupA was this way, but B and C seems to be more realistic where I'd rather be on the green below the hole. Haven't played D pins yet. I just like the variety, and as a course selector, we seem to be low on good quality tough courses right now.

I can't stand courses that allow this over and over again. That is one of the bad things about this game, because chipping is so much easier compared to RL people will go for the tucked pin knowing that they can get a small roll off and be within 7-10yards for a chip. They will aim just over the bunker for the rough rather than to the center of the green like the pros would do it and two putt for par. I can't fault the designers as much for creating a difficult course only to be thwarted by people who use the game's faults to their advantage. It is much like using a super lofted 3 iron to land much more softly on a hard/firm green. Not the designer's fault but the game which allows such a shot to exist. I really do hope that HB does follow through with the suggestion of not allowing loft/deloft of more than one grid. Personally I find it ridiculous that I can deloft a SW two grids and with a 15mph tail wind, hit a SW out of deep deep rough over 170 yards. That shouldn't happen...ever. I would love to see a third type of rough that is so bad that a person has no choice but to use a SW / LW / PW just to get out on to the fairway..max distance would be maybe 50 yards. Either way I just cannot find fault in the designer for having a course that people purposely aim for the rough. If the designer wants to avoid that, putt a bunker there or water to force a different shot. You can fault the designer for placing pins on top of a soup bowl and other things, but not this.

Well I dare anyone to aim to miss and make the chip, I found in practice it was much better to miss by aiming for close to the pin and if you miss and trickle off the green and make the chip it was a bonus. But whenever I tried to miss the green, I failed and often got a bogie for my efforts. And some of those tucked pins, the miss is way above the hole making the chip a hail Mary shot.

I'm glad the tourney is over. I shot a decent score but nowhere near any of the top players and it's just not my type of course for tourney play although saying that we do need tough courses every so often.

it's just not my type of course for tourney play although saying that we do need tough courses every so often. This is it pretty much in a nutshell. You will see these type of courses from time to time and they'll be a hot topic during the week they are active. At least it wasn't firm/fast - that will come a little later on Can't have the same setup for 52 weeks in a row - that would be pretty boring I think. Of course, convincing HB that more firmness settings would be a big asset to the game is still worth pursuing.

That last point is what everyone wants and I agree that we need a mixture of courses during the year ranging from hard and fast courses to soft and birdie fest courses. I understand not everyone likes the birdie fest courses but there will always be tourneys like that in real life.

The ball squirts, yes...but it also benefits you at times and we all know it. So it averages out. No one complains when the ball squirts toward the hole. I've had ball squirts that ended up a hole in one once . I have no problem shooting -10 or better, so we need to let it go. This game is great in my opinion. I personally have never complained about this game and probably never will. It's a game and I don't think it's an issue (personal opinion). Maybe it's not perfect, ok, but is anything in life perfect...nope...except for the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders .

Playing round4 and ran into this on the 14th hole. Just want to make sure that everyone was aware I had to chip since a normal putt toward the hole would have to go through the rough and fringe with the slope/hill. Still took a bogey

A setup practice before I go out there and play my round or rounds. 8 birdies, 1 bogey for -7. Gonna go shoot the actual round. No way I am hitting everything near perfect like that again. I would be quite happy for -7 for the tournament!

Okay, well that was the most frustrating piece of bs.
Wondering if I'm going to make the cut at -4. R1 was probably the most fought under-par round I've had in this game. The one thing that absolutely pissed me off was on the 71st hole. 5 ft for birdie, hit the cup, and it flies 21 ft away from the cup. I then proceed to go over the lip 3 more times until settling for a 6. I never thought I'd 5 putt a hole, especially when I'm 5 ft away in the beginning. Regardless, I played terribly.
Edit: Removed all individual round scores. I'll post those in the spoiler thread.
Edit 2: Now this is a spoiler thread!
R1: 69 (-2) R2: 69 (-2) R3: 63 (-8) R4: 68 (-3) Total: 269 (-15)
Five feet away from birdie on the 71st thinking I might be able to reach -20 for the tournament. And then everything just fell apart. Oh well, on to next week.
