The fact that we all play in different winds pretty much ruins the competitive balance in this game. The people at the top of the leaderboard are likely playing in 0-5mph winds. Last week I lucked out with those winds but 5 of the last 6 weeks I have played my rounds in the 10-15mph range with one round in the 15-20mph. It is frustrating knowing that I am already 3-5+ strokes back before I even hit my first tee shot, and even better when course designers don't take into account the wind and the hole can't be reached in regulation in certain winds. And yes I could wait for the wind to be better like most of you @!$#ers in here but I don't have the time for that, so instead I will just b%& on the message boards about it. Also before people come in here and post about "real golf" this and "real golf" that, it's a @!$#ing game and we should all be playing in similar wind/weather.
Also would love to have the top 10 stream their rounds. Would just be curious what winds they play in. At this point I would put $100 on the table and say there is no way they play in anything more than 5-7mph.

I think we are all in agreement and can't wait. But I disagree with you about the top 10. The top 10 are the top 10 because they are damn good. I've played with Doyley and Sloaner to name two in all conditions and they are just damn good at this game.
Sloaner streams his rounds...check him out.
That said, I'm looking forward to it as much as anyone, but I'm not expecting a big change in the rankings.

The reason why the top players can still play in high winds is because they draw and fade into the wind to gain accuracy.

Thanks for the reply. And I am not saying they aren't good, or that they still wouldn't win the tournaments. What I am saying is there is no way they are shooting -12 to -15 under in 15mph winds for all 4 rounds. And if you have a stream to prove me wrong then I will happily watch it and start pre-heating the crow I will have for dinner tonight.

Whilst I'm no where near the best player on tour I have won a couple of pga tournaments and I think you are wrong about this, if anything I think the wind update will make it easier for the best players to win tournaments. I personally always draw or fade into the wind if it's more than 5mph and it's not much of a problem, the very best players will handle it as well as anyone I reckon. I could be wrong though. I am also looking forward to the update, a level playing field will make it fairer all round but I doubt the top 10 will suddenly start being uncompetitive.

And overall, what I am saying is the guy that shot -12 in the first round of the PGA event this week didn't play in the winds I was in and I am looking forward to the the day when this isn't an issue.

Fair enough. You're probably right about that. It definitely will be interesting to see what happens after the update. I've not heard any of the top players complaining about it though so I think they will still perform well.

And they likely will, again they are really good at this game. Last week I had favorable winds and still didn't crack the top 25. The wind balance isn't going to magically make me better and them worse. It will just be nice to know that we are playing the same course. And I get frustrated when I am playing my round and it is painfully obvious I have no chance at winning or no chance and firing a low number because of the winds. Winds that other people don't have to contend with.

I shot -11 in round 1 this week playing in 10-15mph winds... Il take your $100 please. We have had people come on here before and accuse the top players of being wind waiters. Yes I'm sure there are some but not all so DONT tar them all with the same brush just because you are not capable of mixing it with the best. Really grinds my virtual gears when people make unproven assumptions about others purely because they aren't able to meet the standard themselves

By the way I hope you are true to your word and when a top 10 player streams a top 10 round in 8mph plus winds you will part with your $100
I can't wait for the wind update so all these batching about the best only wind wait will disappear into the aether

I don't think that we will see a difference in the top 10 or even the top 20 players.
That being said, it could easily make a difference in a lower level tour player like myself making a cut.
The big difference is from about the 50 - 90 spots each week. Every cut is important for me to try and keep my tour card and if I am on the cut line shooting in 12 mph winds and the next guy on the line is playing in 3-5 winds, guess who most of the time is making the cut?

Really grinds my virtual gears when people make unproven assumptions about others purely because they aren't able to meet the standard themselves Nice round! I am impressed! I know not EVERYONE wind waits and I know there are some very, very good players in this game and on this tour regardless of circumstances. Also when I referenced the "top 10" I just meant on the leaderboards each week not the overall top 10 in the world rankings. Obviously there is talent here and they will likely win out even with heavy wind. However there are also those that do wind wait and I for one can't wait to have the patch so we can all be on an even playing field and the cream will rise to the top. It will be a very similar cream but it will be a much more satisfying even in defeat. As for the $100, well you called my bluff. I am not actually going to give anyone $100, I have more important things to spend that money on. but I will definitely want to watch some of the top players and get an idea on how they approach the high wind rounds. At least in that case it is a skill based thing and not some random dice roll on who gets an easier/harder round based off wind. Honestly it's not even about the wind itself, it's just about how big of a difference it can make to your round and knowing not everyone is dealing with it. EDIT*** I also agree with what Fuzzy said above me. The top 1-2% are going to be that no matter what, but the rest should fluctuate. In the end it will come down to skill no matter what, but it will be easier to stomach knowing everyone is starting from the same spot.
