After 7 years it's pretty easy to gauge the overall feeling of members so while it may feel like a bunch of random settings at first (throw them at the wall and see what sticks!), we did hone in on what has been a widely accepted group of settings pretty quick. That's 80% of the battle. The last 20% is more on TGCT admin to decide how to package it all together so that TGCT is a cohesive unit. That's where we are at now - the settings are pretty close to done but since we have the time, it only makes sense to get in as much testing as we can. The TGCT societies would just be empty/inactive otherwise. We've had some massive offseason changes in the past and have lived through it - this will be no different. Not sure if any of you watch the TV show Survivor...but we're a lot like that. The base product is the same but have to be willing to adapt/change to keep things fresh and working - it's how they got to season 41 and how we've managed to complete 7 seasons across 4 very different golf games. Doyley, thanks for all you do! TGC Tours gets me through my work week.

New events start in 1 hour. I have two Beer League events set up as well (Beer League and Elite) if anyone is looking to try that on for size. See below for those settings. Beer League Settings:1. Course yardage is set to Book Only 2. Aim Marker is set to Marker Only (means no distance/elevation will show above your aim marker) 3. Under Display & HUD menu you can set Distance Info Position to "In HUD". This will show the distance/elevation to the pin from your current position - if you have Distance Info Position set to On Marker you will not see this information (and be at a severe disadvantage/not see any elevation info). The must be manually changed by you - we can not set this for you. 4. Pro Vision: Trajectory is set to Aim Only 5. Pro Vision: True Shot is on, the rest of the Pro Vision options are off so you'll need to account for all other factors (ball lie, rough/fairway, elevation, wind etc) when setting up your shot. 6. Swing is set to Pro-Am Whats the purpose of setting aim marker to MARKER ONLY then allowing people to turn on HUD info? It's the same info just in a different spot on your screen..Top right or in the middle on the marker, its still the same..........

Math people will need to adjust, if they are top plat players they will adjust anyway, they are that good to begin with. Maths players won't turn into feel players if there is still a long-winded way to get the same maths result. All it does is add precious time to a round. I used to love true sim (before XBox tempo nonsense) but it took too long to play a round trying to fill the gaps that the "normal" game gives you to compensate for the fact we are playing on a 2-D screen. But math people have an advantage as they just can quickly look at number and putt. The “time excuse” is just that, just another excuse. I want all people to enjoy their rounds and everybody will have to adapt to certain changes they are not used to. And again, the Top players will adapt.

Takes away elevation info on drives or any shot not reaching a pin as well as removes exact elevation changes to your marker on the greens which adds a bit more difficulty. I also like it because it cleans up the middle of the screen with less clutter - but it's mainly for the added difficulty on drives and on the greens.

Putting hasn't changed much for me, as I use metric measurements it still shows the elevation in centimetres. I can't move the marker along the length to see more detailed changes but I never did that anyway.

Doyley I just finished the CC Test Event (Bungalow Beach Club) on PC. I liked having the distance and elevation info off of the marker. Caused me to think/plan a little more pre-shot. I could live with that.

It does change the putting. Not if you putt by "feel". Anybody have the perfect setting? Everybody has different opinions. But the passion for the game is good, so that is a good thing.

Accidentally only made the Platinum event 24 hours - so I'll fire up another 24h event behind it to sync up with the Challenge Circuit one.

My fault but I’ve lost track of where we are at the moment. Is there an event in progress using the settings that the three pro tours are trialling ?

Concerns about Sattlers Head having too many eagle opps bore fruit. Prob not one for next season in plat.
After 2 events played, anecdotal side-by-side test vs my tournament rounds:
Fenyard Keep = -25 v -19 Sattlers Head = -33 v -23

Platinum and Challenge Circuit are using settings aimed at the main tours - courses aimed at target audience of society - tougher test in Platinum, easier in CC.

Many players already use Metric and HUD so there will be literally zero effect for approaches and putts. Others whom use imperial, while on the green, if given a 1FT+ elevation can simply switch the display settings to metric and divide the Cm by 2.54. Nothing difficult about that. Most people take practice rounds, so the Marker Only will have absolutely no effect on gauging elevation on drives or non Pin approach shots; it only takes 5s to jot down an elevation note.
So the change has the potential to create a larger gap in scoring between the "Math/Metric" people vs. the "feel" people. Yes, it will most likely take 10 to 12 extra minutes to finish a round playing the "Math/Metric" way, however, in the end, you get what you put into it. Those unwilling to take the extra time to hammer out the fine details of every shot will find themselves falling behind.

The metric switch only works between 1 foot and 3 feet elevation change - that's getting pretty nit picky. I'm not too worried about the handful of people that will go through the trouble of switching their metric/imperial for the 1 time per tournament they have a 2.5 foot elevation change on the green - most of those guys are good enough to never find themselves in that type of situation anyways. The rest of us will just look at the grids and go by visual cues to make our best effort. If you practice and put time into any sport you can expect to do better - no different here. If you want to put in a practice round to jot down notes there's nothing wrong with that.
