Hi folks This started as my attempt to model the amazing Lofoten links in Norway. I think that due to my newbie status I probably bit off far more than I could chew by attempting this but I think I've ended up with a course that is fun to play, high winds highly recommended of course, like any good links course. The course draws heavily from the Lofoten layout and many of the holes follow the basic design but things morphed and changed as I continued to build so the overall course is longer and some of the hole designs vary. I must stress that this is in no way an attempt at an RCR, I just used Lofoten as inspiration. I would love to hear your thoughts and feedback if you get a chance to play it. I think I have progressed a little in my using of the design tools and 5 courses in hopefully this is my best effort so far..... I must say a big thank you to stubby3596 for playtesting a couple of times during the build and pointing out my more obvious gaffs Would love any comments you may have, good and bad. Thank you and stay safe.

I would really encourage everyone to go and give this course a play. Nifty1 has done a great job here creating a really cool vibe and he has taken feedback and incorporated it everywhere in the final design. This is a fun track to play with lots of challenging holes but also a very clean and appealing design.
Congrats on getting it finished dood.

Thanks for the help and support stubby I think in hindsight that I could have used a better rock or stone for the outcrops to get a more craggy appearance, I sort of thought that about 30 hours in ..... but I had already planted and sank about 245,786 rocks ... and I really could not face deleting and replacing them all! haha Oh well ... onward and upward I've learned a lot from this one I think. Cheers bud.

Thanks hallz, Like I said I think a sharper rock may have given a better effect (99% of the rocks around the course are the same stone, resized and rotated)... never mind, live and learn Would love some feedback if you get the chance to play it and have the time. Cheers

You had me at rock. Added to my play list for later tonight. Really dig the environment from the previews.

Cheers bud. I disagree with your thoughts on the rocks. They’re completely appropriate. Down by the waters edge they’ll have a more rounded appearance due to weathering and erosion. I think your rock work looks very authentic. Looks like you’ve done a great job!

I start my projects off without much real planning, this one started just as an exercise to have a go at the 2nd hole from Lofoten and the rest just snowballed from there. In my head it was going to look craggy like the real Lofoten but my lack of experience in the designer starts to tell and my courses always turn into something different..... Hopefully this one is playable and fun though. Would love to know what you think if you get a chance. Thank you

Loved everything about this. Nailed the vision, some really fun creative hole designs and most importantly, it was a blast to play. Think you're being a bit hard on yourself - I totally got the Lofoten vibe and think it's a cracking course. I might like to see a bit more randomness in your fairway/green undulations that would fit more with the land around it, but wouldn't nitpick much more. Keep up the good work and love to see good courses like this come out of nowhere

Keep up the good work and love to see good courses like this come out of nowhere Thank you for taking the time to give it a try Ben and for the kind words. I do struggle with my greens I have to admit, also I’m not sure how to get a realistic undulating feel to links fairways, amongst many other things of course 😊 I always think my course is not as good as others made by people at the same level as me in the designer. I do try to make as realistic a look as I can though, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. I’d love to be able to design in an engine like Unreal or whatever Red Dead Redemption used as I really would love about 200% more grass to play with. But I suppose then I’d spend about 400 hours planting each hole....😁 Thanks again for taking the time. It is much appreciated and encourages me to continue learning. Thank you
