Rideau Ridge is located not far from Ottawa, ON close to the Rideau River. This 7191 Par 71 layout has 3 sets of tees, Whites for the members and Greens (mid) and Black (back) tees for tournament play. This course offers strategic options off the tees which will change depending on wind conditions and pin placement. Slight elevation changes, three reachable par 5's, and a drivable Par 4 add variety and excitement to this Canadian gem.

solid course! played nicely with some decent sightlines and some fun hole designs! My favorite hole was Hole 9 with its cool mounding in the middle of the fairway causing me to pause and think about exactly how I wanted to hit the tee shot. I wish you returned to that idea somewhere else on the course. My only other minor critique is the bunkers are a little too simple for my liking (simple oval shapes) but I know that's a style and I wasn't too fond of their sculpting. I liked the wooded edged pot bunkers and wish there were more on the course but understand that they are very time consuming to make so nbd.
Shot a solid -4

I decided to keep the bunkers a little simple for this course. This was only my second course so I know there's still lots of room for growth. I could have thrown a few more of those walled pot bunkers. Maybe it was laziness? I'm glad you enjoyed your round.

Thought you did a really nice job with this one mate. I enjoyed my round here. Some cool ideas executed well. Will be back to have another crack at 17, which was good fun. Keep designing. For a second course, there was lots to like here. 🤙

Definitely a fun and well designed course. I also enjoyed 9 the most from a design standpoint. That mound in the fairway is great. I didn't notice it anywhere else, but the green/fairway transition on the same hole could use some work. It kinda goes back and forth on the left edge. But other than that, not much to nitpick on. Like I mentioned in the WIP thread, I really thought the walled bunkers were well done and the planting was nice as well throughout. Good job.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and that there wasn't much for you to nitpick on. TGC approved the course but it wasn't Tour Worthy. I'm curious as to how far off I was and what areas of the course I should look on improving technique wise in order to improve. But, as a second course, I can't be expecting to have Tour Worthy. I'm just happy that I'm able to design and have that creative outlet.

Great golf course, enjoyed my round here. I don't think you're far off from tour worthy with this one. A little bit better planting and better Green complexes and you're there. The Greens should fit the club most likely to be hit into it from a good drive in the fairway. So if you have a longer club in, it should be a bigger Green and a shorter club in, you can make the Green smaller and more penal if you'd like. I felt like most of the Greens were similar size and they were a bit too big in general. You also have too many holes that are similar distance. This course has 4 470 yd holes. Holes #8 & 9 are only 3 yds apart in length. 2 out of 3 of the par 5's are only 6 yds apart in length. The more variety the better and there are too many holes that feel the same and play to a similar yardage. Hopefully this helps.

Green sizes seem to be a common critique and I'm making the adjustment in my current project. I've received a bunch of feedback already and this adds to the constructive criticism I have received and it will only strengthen my designs. I'll take all this into consideration. My current course looks to be an improvement on strategy. Maybe I'll make it to Tour Worthy. Cheers.

I really enjoyed my round. 9 and 17 were really fun tee shots, and the hole with the lion’s mouth bunker stands out to me as well. I thought the planting looked good and made it feel like a real course. The only constructive feedback that I can give is to the second the basic bunker shapes. It didn’t really detract from the round, but it could help them “pop” more. Overall, it was a very good course, and I’ll play it again for sure.

The bunker shapes were 100% intentional. I knew I was taking a chance with it but it was the theme I was going for.
