Only got around to buying the new game a couple of weeks ago, and haven’t got my head around the gameplay changes yet, or how they affect course design.
I’ve got a couple of courses to port over. Tried playing one, and i struggled to reach the par fives that i’m sure were reachable in the previous game. Using the default clubs.
Do par fives need to be slightly shorter in this version, or do I just need to upgrade my clubs?
Are there any other aspects of course design that you would recommend revisiting when porting a course from 2019 to 2021?

Thanks, that video was helpful. I’ll have to try out some different drivers and see how much of a difference they make.
A few months on, now everyone’s had lots of practice with the new swing, is it still the case that it is easier and more punishing to miss a fairway in 2021 vs 2019?

Great video. In terms of driver distance, for most of the tours, guys are carrying it 290-ish. Some some a little longer and some less. I base my hazard placement on those numbers. I use the 291 driver so I get a good idea when I playtest.
The biggest change in terms of tour-worthiness are the greens. Yellow and even orange are acceptable now. Heck, I usually complain about courses that don't have enough yellow and red on the greens. Red is still bad around the hole of course, but designers have a lot more freedom to make more severe greens now.
