Answers to your questions: I designed my first courses on PS4, but they were not RCRs, just made up from my mind. You can build an RCR on a console, but it can never be totally accurate as to topography. As slicermcduff said above, you tube and Twitch videos by those guys are invaluable for new designers; also go back through the entire "Designers" board and read it. As far as Lidar, you must use a PC for that. For more information go to this forum Tgc golf tools and read that. There you can also get instructions to download the Chad's tool you need to do Lidar design and a tutorial on using it. Hope this helps, and have fun - it is a pretty steep learning curve but when you get there it is worth it (at least to me ) Thank you! Appreciate the feedback maybe I’ll fire up the pc for designing from here on out. lidar is really interesting to me This might help you decide if Lidar for you it’s Chad golfs first twitch stream m.twitch.tv/videos/414113375

Hey guys. I am really interested in improving my designing ability. I just finished a course that I spent 100 hours on and maxed out memory on called Maple Pines Golf Club. I submitted to TGC but was not approved. I created the course on PS4 and felt like I just don’t stack up to the good designers. 1) I’m wondering what the best way to design is... is PC the way to go? 2) what is lidar and how do you use it? I made a few real courses by actually memory/photo and it took way too long and obviously wasn’t accurate as it could be. How do I do this?? Thank you in advance any help is greatly appreciated! Going to have a crack at designing my first course on console this weekend. Will start watching vids from the experts shortly. I’ve been a qualified greenskeeper for over 10 years, so hopefully i can put some of my knowledge to good use. Really looking forward to the challenge.

It's a lot to sift through but I'd start with Canucks 101 vids or b101s tgc2019 video. Plenty of others to check out as well. tgctours.proboards.com/thread/22247/youtube-design-tutorials

I've read that Chad's lidar tool doesn't work with 2k21? I have a couple of ideas for courses I want to try. Do I need to work them in 2019 first and port?

I've read that Chad's lidar tool doesn't work with 2k21? I have a couple of ideas for courses I want to try. Do I need to work them in 2019 first and port? Not really Chuck. Apparently you need to do the Chad's Tool stuff in TGC2019, just like we used to, then once you have got into 2019, edit the course in the 2019 game and save and exit. Then you can just move or copy the course file from the TGC2019 course folder into the 2K21 course folder and it should open fine; you can just do all your editing in 2K21 from there. Perhaps if Chad gets the time and inclination he will update his Lidar tool to work directly with the new game.
