After a couple months away from the game I decided to make a WIP page for my second project to hold me accountable to finish this course. Played all of joegolferg 's courses this morning and it inspired me to do my own template course. I'm a huge Raynor/MacDonald fan and I've always wanted to create a course using the templates. Happy to announce that I have started The Boston Club. I am using a Harvest theme for the course to give it that true New England fall golf feel. The course is completely routed and is currently at a Par 70 and just a little over 7,000 yards, but will most likely get longer. In a way this course is going to be paying tribute to a few of my favorites and will be heavily inspired by them. (Sleepy Hollow, Chicago GC, Shoreacres, Camargo, CC of Charleston, The Creek Club, Piping Rock... to name a few) The following templates will be used: Hole #1: Leven Hole #2: Cape Hole #3: Narrows Hole #4: Eden Hole #5: Road Hole #6: Prize Dogleg Hole #7: Redan Hole #8: Long Hole #9: Lions Mouth Hole #10: Lido Hole #11: Biarritz Hole #12: Knoll Hole #13: Plateau Hole #14: Bottle Hole #15: Alps Hole #16: Short Hole #17: Punchbowl Hole #18: Maiden Hopefully I can make half as good of a course as Joegolfg (The Virtual Raynor) is able to! Will be posting pics as I go!

This is refreshing. Looks like you've got the hole principles down pretty well on the ones you've posted so far. 👍

Any idea of the time table as to when this will be available? Looking forward to playing it.

What are template style holes? Do you mean the type of hole layout, like a Redan par 3? Or are there actual templates you’re following? I’ve seen Templates mentioned a few times so I’m just wondering.

Like the look of this a lot (I would). Looks like you've got the shapes and sculpting down pretty quickly. Obviously there are some riffs on the templates, which is what keeps them interesting, but a couple of things stood out to me: your Narrows is just tight all the way - the concept is traditionally that it gets tighter the longer you go to make taking driver a riskier play, but laying up obviously leaving you a long second shot. Secondly, I'd probably have your Road as more of a dogleg - I can't see what the 'hotel' style hazard to carry off the tee is that rewards with the better line into the green. Personally, I'd probably also angle the cape green a bit more so that it rewards a line from the right hand side challenging those bunkers, but that's definitely an individual thing.
Look forward to following along!

First real crack at this so obviously going to be some bumps in the road and while I am trying to design a fun course definitely using this as a bit of a trial run at the same time! Really appreciate the feedback and hope you'll continue to check back in on the progress!
