Just wondering if anyone still plays the original TGC? I personally loved this game and didn't like the changes to the newer games. Anyone still play or does anyone know of any tournaments that people still may play?

I don't know of any, but playing with the beginner club set on the beginner club tour (BCT) is the closest thing to it. I've personally enjoyed the BCT because it does mimic the first game more than anything else.

BCT is easier than TGC1 overall. There are some challenges - lack of distance with clubs and much more significant roll out on approaches (compared to Master or Pro clubs - not compared to TGC1 which had more severe roll outs) Most difficult thing in my opinion is getting a feel for the pitch distances since they are much different than with Master or Pro. BCT is not an exact match for TGC1, but the lack of tempo issues (for the most part) means it is comparable. So basically what ErixonStone said - mechanically very similar. Not to start a big debate, but the one thing about BCT I enjoy the most is it is very equal with all 3 systems.
