After receiving feedback from the Rookie Comp, it really opened my eyes up to a whole lot. So I’ve already put these things into play on another course, but I really wanted to “fix” this course because I personally don’t think it’s far off. So as a little side project, I’m also starting this as well. First thing I’m doing is CLEARING TREES (what was I thinking) so now the first tee shot will look something like this 4 will have more planting later but this looks soooo much better IMO Started changing some holes as well. Moved some bunkers on 1, and changed the green orientation. 3 is just a whole new hole. 7 got a different look as well with the green orientation. 8, 9, 13, 17 will be getting area deletes and starting from scratch. Other holes will have some changing but nothing too crazy Really appreciate the feedback from mayday_golf83 mattf27 reebdoog ErixonStone and b101 who has been extremely helpful throughout the competition. Going to use all of that info and this course should be a good example of things to come!

Looking at #7: I like the new green orientation. There seems to be a flat area to the front-right of the greenside bunker. Mowing that area down to fairway height might add another option for the second shot.
Is there a reason that the wide fairway to the right isn't connected to the fairway on the left behind the bunker? It might make sense, visually, to enhance the planting or sculpting to explain why the greenskeeper wouldn't just mow that area down to fairway height.

The main reason the two aren’t connected is a steep ridge. But looking at it, I think that would look good as well. I need to just drill “options” into my head all the time lol.

The way I see it the left fairway on 7 is probably 4 or 5 feet higher. I agree the fairway looks like it should be connected from this view, but if the elevation difference is there the answer may to extend that feature out from the hole, or to connect and then smooth out the difference going back up the right fairway
Regardless you have 3 strategically interesting holes here and I cant wait to shoot -4 on them

Few more additional changes. These aren’t done by any means really liking so far. On hole 9 I added a bunker in the early FW per suggestions to give an aiming point visual. Also made an area to left of the in fairway bunker. So this par 4 gives you a layup at top of hill, layup at left, or you go for it. The the green will slope away from the tee boxes so the layups aren’t ideal. Also changed the green and bunker complex on 8 while extending the hole to 200ish to add a little different type par 3. Few holes here. Added FW left on 11, while being a little elevated. I’m indifferent on a FW bunker as I don’t want that to get stale and overused either. 12 got the green flipped and a few more bunkers actually in play. 13 removed bunker on right side, extended fairway over, and made the shot a little more player friendly if you go right side and take on the ditch. Really liking 15 now but brought the pond over to make it more in play. Also shortened the hole to be a two shot par 5 but now water is in play. Changed green to give you a reason to go right of the fairway bunker. A lot of these changes were general suggestions from reviews but man, I’m so glad I got them. Actually looking for this stuff now just have so many new hole ideas to add into future courses. I don’t think I’m gonna go crazy with additional planting or spend too much time there but really enjoying the changes so far.

Looks good and glad you tackling this project. I personally have too many notes from my course to make changes to it but will apply all the feedback to my new course which I have started doing. Rustic River WIP

Rustic River WIPThank you. It's turned into a much bigger project than I anticipated lol. I essentially am redoing every hole. Not saying it's amazing but now I have a much different and "better" hole followed by another hole that just doesn't fit now. That's looking good as well! Bookmarked it and if you post a BETA or anything, I'd love to give it a run

Every now and then you read something and a light bulb goes off. I think the comment about adding a bunker as an aiming point has just given me a way to solve my issues with one of the holes on my WC course. Happy days! Love to see the progress you are making here as well
