By the way, Art Vandelay , kudos for your promotion to KF. Now we know who put the “fairy” [sic] in “Korn Ferry”, precious. Don’t let your purse interfere with your swing, pretty boy. 🧚🏻♂️ IT'S A EUROPEAN MEN'S CARRYALL DAGNABIT!!!!

1st off thank you to everyone for support and suggestions about my course, I'm glad that overall everyone seems to have enjoyed their rounds. I think the biggest 2 problem holes have been 15's landing area off the tee and the 18th green, I probably should have widen the landing area on 15 or maybe just cut down some of those trees on the left to open up more off the fairway to drive to. The green on the 18 I think is just a little to small a target with the wind coming across and into your face at 10mph plus, the problem I see is that there just isn't real estate on the 2nd shot to tempt people into laying up. These are things that I will try to implement into future design's. seeing this was the 1st course I have ever designed I was just greatfull that it even made it to tour, and now that it has been received so well by you guys makes it all the sweeter. Thanks again guys. The problems on the 15th Mike seem to lie in the fact that you designed the tee for Pro clubs and the ones getting into problems are Masters users with the extra distance. I had no issues with my pro clubs.

That’s because people don’t always look at the “right” play, they think they should be able to hit driver on every hole and fire at every pin straight on. Don’t get me on my soapbox...

Ashton - I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the CC courses selected, so I’m genuinely asking, can you share with me your misgivings about these courses? It hasn’t been my experience that TGCT schedulers don’t give a lick, so I’m honestly curious about your thoughts.

It hasn’t been my experience that TGCT schedulers don’t give a lick, so I’m honestly curious about your thoughts. First and foremost, I think the tours need to be split by Masters and Pro clubs because those yardage differences create a rift where people are playing 2 different courses but here are the things that I can think of off the top of my head that drive me up the wall: 1. Illegal pins. Yellow lines in the same square or one next to the pin 2. Tucked pins on long iron shots with no chance to get it close even with playing the slope. We shouldn't have to try and bank it off the rough to get a decent shot. 3. Hazards put at the driving distance for one club set but not the other 4. Rocks by the green 5. Long irons into elevated greens that are surrounded by bunkers. 6. 240+ yard par 3s 7. A course with no par 5s to reach in 2 (every course should have at least 1 imo) 8. A drive that only has a landing area on red slopes That's what I can think of now. I know some of those are just personal preferences and have nothing to do with competitive nature.

Thanks again guys. The problems on the 15th Mike seem to lie in the fact that you designed the tee for Pro clubs and the ones getting into problems are Masters users with the extra distance. I had no issues with my pro clubs. The "problem" I had on 15 is that if you hit driver (Pro) - there's a relatively narrow landing area to keep from going OB or into the sand trap. However, even if you crack it perfectly, you end up with a tree between you and the hole. I ended up having to play a massive fade around the tree and ended up in the sand. I was able to get up and down for birdie, but eagle is basically impossible. 2nd round, I may lay up with an iron off the tee just to avoid the tree, then play a long iron into the fairway and try to get it close on my 3rd shot. It's not so much a problem with the hole as it is a problem for me because I am ALWAYS going to take a shot at eagle as long as the green isn't out of reach with my 2nd shot (i.e. some of these 590-600 yard holes.)

I mean this with all respect, but if each week's course is so bad, why not volunteer 30 minutes a couple times a week and ranger? There have a been a few courses that haven't been rangered properly this year, but for the most part, we do ok. When you have 4+ people (plus the scheduler) play each course before it's put on tour, we normally get courses that are fair. There are only so many courses out there, and players want to play different courses instead of the same ones week in, week out. One also has to separate the "strictly unfair" from the "I personally don't like it." I've shot -40 on courses I don't like, and likewise (last week) struggled on courses I do like.
As for the CC-pro course this week, there is nothing "illegal" about it. Yes, some fairways lacked a proper landing area, even with less club. Yes, too many greens were upside down bowls with far too many sloping front to back. All the pins were good. There were some on the edge, but nothing illegal. Yes, there are a couple of holes that have some design issues, but we all play the same course. There are plenty of guys that shot -12 every round this week. Then there are guys like me who let the course into my helmet. More on that later.

So, speaking of playing S@!$tty...
I played all four rounds today. This is another course that I don't get along with. It's not a bad course, it's just not a good match for me. Nothing bounced the right way. No putts went in - all lipped out. Wind didn't help properly. Greens didn't roll true (not designer's fault, or really that accurate).
Hold onto your hats:
Rd 1: E, 2 big numbers on the back killed a decent round in the making Rd 2: -3, had to eagle the 18th to get that Rd 3: -4, Same as the first round, ball in water and another OB Rd 4: -1, nothing good here at all
I can only thank the Gods above that I don't play on CC-A anymore or they would kick me out the door and hand me my hat. I'll probably shoot -40 on Eruo this week.

Violinguy69 I do not ranger because I barely have enough time to play the 4 rounds that I do. Earlier in my life, when I had more time, I helped out with course design contests by playing the courses and offering my "color commentary" from a non-designer perspective while playing and streaming. I enjoyed it because I got to experience courses in a new way but it took time (because I actually immersed myself in the course) and that is time I no longer have. And course selection has less to do with my personal opinion as I don't really care what they look like... It's what do they feel like. And lately they've felt tricked up and unfair. I'll also say that I am in TGCT purgatory where I'm just good enough to be dangerous but not good enough to be great. I don't play the game enough to know all the little nuances to get around some of the tucked pins but I shouldn't have to play 30 rounds a week to get my level of play to a place so I can enjoy a track.

Well since we've got catcherman22 ear, I'd like to put forward Bayerischer Golfplatz and Golf Club Passeier for a tour venue. Perhaps as an alternative to a RCR for a showcase event we could tempt Dan to schedule one of our own?

If anyone wants to practice on a course I’ve just released its a links course near where I live. It’s ages since I’ve played it so it has changed I’ve actually released two versions of the course the only difference is the 7th hole. The course is Hartlepool GC New L or Hartlepool GC Old L. It’s also Lidar but no where near full on the meter so should play ok on an original Xbox, looking at you portred 🤣 Play it if you want I designed it for myself anyway. Edit: Needs to be played in windy conditions to be authentic.

These courses aren't unfair though. We're all playing the same course and plenty of people are doing really well. I don't practice any cc-pro courses as I don't have the time either. Your complaints just seem directly correlated with your results on the leaderboards.

Your complaints just seem directly correlated with your results on the leaderboards. I've been around a long time and I'll assure you, it's nothing to do with my place on the leaderboard. I don't care if I'm 15 over or 15 under when I see a hole that is in the midst of yellow squares... That's illegal. When you land a shot 5 feet from the pin but have a huge swooping putt, I don't care if it's for eagle or double.... That's tricked up. I honestly don't care about my scores anymore because I've hit the top of where I can hit in TGCT for X1 because Masters clubs are unplayable. I would almost even welcome moving down so that I could be in contention again but I don't care that much. So no, I make my judgements about the course in round 1, not after the chips have fallen and how my score is.
