Welcome to Stag Lake, a beautiful visage situated in western Kentucky not far from the flow of the Mighty Mississip.
Kay’s Woods was built in 1961 by real estate titan Andrew Harper, who wanted to develop a business venture that magnified the region’s natural beauty. His good friend and associate Kenneth Heinz, an avid golfer, suggested constructing a course on the picturesque but then little-known site of Stag Lake. Harper loved the idea, and eventually settled on naming the course after his friend.
True to Harper’s vision, the Kay’s Woods track fits neatly into the surrounding landscape. The area’s history as a tectonic hotbed courtesy of the New Madrid fault presents golfers with sudden elevation changes and rocky outcroppings. Foliage abounds, and golfers who are skilled at shot shaping my find themselves at an advantage if they can bend the ball around the trees. But be wary, there are plenty of chances for hero shots, but a miscalculated risk could send your round south. And of course, be mindful of that water.
This is my first ever TGC course. I learned a lot making it; hopefully it shows! Feedback is more than appreciated, since I’m still learning new stuff with the designer every day and I’m sure there’s a lot I can improve on. Tee ‘em high and enjoy your round on the banks of Stag Lake!

Sorry about that pin on #10. It was absolutely NOT supposed to play like that. All I can figure is some nearby sculpting knocked the green wonky without me noticing. Also, I’ll send out a groundskeeper right away to expel the poltergeist from that camera tower.
