Looking for opinions on the hybrid irons I am thinking of switching out some of my long irons, Are the hybrids prone to hooking or slicing more so than the irons? And what about the run out is it less distance for them I know the launch angle is a bit more higher than the straight irons. Thanks for your help.

Hybrids are a bit tougher in the wind, cause it affects much more the flight of the ball. But they offers a more gentle roll on greens. Then, if I'm not wrong, the blue line is a bit fatter using irons. If you center generally lot of fairways and you read well the wind, hybrids are a good pick, for me. Me, personally, change my clubs depending always on wind and ground conditions.
But the nuance are a lot, to check all the differences, my advice is to put all the hybrids and the longest irons (and also the woods, while you're here) and to try all of them in the practice range, so you can verify with your eyes what fits better with your game. What is good for someone, can be awful for some other one, so...

In this game, you get way better lies out of the rough with irons than with hybrids. I don't use hybrids at all.

Feel like we've had this thread before, but any perceived advantage of the hybrids in game is outweighed by the improved rough performance of irons. Id be interested to know how many pga guys have hybrids in the bag, I sure dont have any

I've tried various combinations and ended up removing all hybrids from my bag ... mainly because of the distance/accuracy gained with irons out of bad lies (heavy rough or sand). I think that reason alone was worth more than anything I'd gain with hybrids.
Not sure if it's just my perception, but I also feel like I have a little more control over irons when it comes to adjusting the loft.

I have a 2W, 2H, and 4H. Goes to 4-9 iron after. Also, only have PW, SW, and LW.

I'm only a CC-D player, but when I switched from 2W-2H-4H to 2W-1I-3I the difference was almost night and day in favor of the irons. Can't think of a single situation where I'd rather have a hybrid vs a long iron.

I made some test, just to satisfy definitively my curiosity. After this, I think that there are only 2 good reasons to prefer hybrids to irons : 1) the higher trajectory can be very helpful to cross obstacles (trees, little hills, stuff like this) and to stop the ball more easily against the wind (but it needs practice to read these situations properly and to don't make the ball stop TOO easily too soon ) 2) the ball rolls always at least a pair of yards less on greens. This means that it could be still a good choice if wind is low..and if you miss very few fairways. But even considering this, anyway irons are still the best pick, for me. Now I'm convinced. The only advantage I easily still recognize about hybrids, after months playing using them..is that if you learn how to manage well those clubs (and is really uneasy, especially when you have to deal with some huge lateral wind and if you need also to loft/deloft your ball), then you can manage well EVERY club. But I'm convinced to switch to irons, now. If not on some exceptional situations. Is a shame, anyway. Hybrids IRL seems to offer a bunch of good reasons to be used. I hope they will fix at least this, in the next game...
