Praying to hold on to the last master promotion mark this week. Course was really fun and strategic.

Guys..this is by far..and probably will be, for a long, long time..the most incredible round I ever played in a game of golf. Little premise, I decide to extremize my choices, so I kept with me my 2w, then the 5h and all the irons starting from 3. So said.. I was -4 after 3 holes cause I holed in one the par 3 Biarritz. Then I started to struggle with my putt a bit,but I was -5 on the green of the 9. An uphill putt for birdie from 5 meters..nothing impossible, but for a lag (fault of my internet connection) I putted a bomb and obviously the returning putt from 4 meters downhill was lipped out. First bogey of the tournament. Hole 10, missing the needed club between my 2w and the 5h for the approach, I tried to hit a slight slow backswing with a 2w, but failed. Long out of green and back to back bogey for missed scramble. I was -3 at that point..but then start the craziness. I birdied every hole but the 14, but I also holed out the third par 3 (!!) AND another par 4. If you check my scorecard is...simply unbelievable. I have to say that I had a great feeling before the start, cause I saw in my last practice round that my swing today was simply perfect. And even my missed putts..were missed always by..really soo few..and well. Nothing. I can't simply believe what I saw. -12 for the round..-41 for the tournament. Third place..too much happy

Thank you guys Normally I'm not too much happy for an ace, cause it needs, even when you are really precise, mainly just luck..so I'm more excited when I score a very long putt really aimed to the cup..or, even more, if I find that perfect rhythm in my swing such that a series of approaches starts to die constantly 1-2 feet from the cup. It happens almost never..but when it happens..is an amazing feeling. I like when I can realize what I think, in short. But this round has been really absurd..even for the dynamic. Also..all my 4 eagles of the week has been for very long approaches holed out. And no one of these has been in a par 5 (I birdied also only 6 of the 12 par 5 holes played). A tournament really strange. Anyway..we'll see on the course next week..i hope (Tomorrow I'll check the new course and I'll know if I can play). Now..i should sleep a bit. Have a good Sunday!

hoosierhoops24 is a marathon, not a 110 hurdle, you know it. You'll have the chance soon to equalize..no counting the fact that very probably, if I could have the chance to play last week, we would be already 1-1. Anyway..the plan is to check today this week's course (after a pair of rounds of rangering)..and if is all ok, I would to start tomorrow the tournament. Good week to anyone, guys!

So I got a bit premature with thinking that I was in with a chance of a promo mark, but happy with a top 30 finish after spending most of last season dodging demo marks. Pretty sure normal service will be resumed next week

I’m in a world of trouble, promoted last week to B and have just returned home from Rayners Ridge. Mrs Riotous was out buying a new car whilst I was struggling on the course, told her that I came in 98th and didn’t even cover the expenses, she’s expecting big money after the promotion and wasn’t interested in hearing my excuses about Biarritz and Lions Mouth greens. Anyway, I’m on the next flight to Norway to put in some practice, hope it’s good conditions or it could be a one way ticket!!

Jammed in my rounds this morning on the beautiful Geiranger GC.
Ended -27 overall, probably not good enough to do much in the standings. Better than last week's near-last place showing for me though. Starting to worry I'm destined for a mid-season drop to CCC.
Rounds went -7, -3, -8, -9. Round 2 has high winds and led me to taking some shots that were met with some pretty bad bounces. Not sure if it was bad luck or dumb shots. I opened round 3 bogey-bogey-eagle-birdie, which was...a thing that happened.
Enjoy the scenery on this one. I never solved a couple of the par 5s, and there was a bunker on 11 or 13 (I forget which) that I was in 3 of the 4 rounds, somehow. Definitely lost strokes to the course designer on those!

Shot -5 in the first round this week. Never felt comfortable with my swing, but generally got away with it from tee to green. Putting let me down though, missed a couple of short ones (although, in my defence, they were on a couple of the more slopey pin positions).
Really liked the course, looked fantastic, and invites the occasional outrageous shot.

I tried this week's course. The good thing is that everything looks fine (apart some tree almost exactly in front the tee on holes 3 and, especially, 4 and another later on the round i can't remember now..i believe is in the secind nine..really hard to avoid and I don't think has been everytime the designer ), so I'm almost sure i can play this week. And..like raynor ridge, is a course that requires a certain dose of study to don't struggle. The only main difference with Raynor Ridge..is that I really dislike this kind of courses. Really. Obviously, is a masterpiece of designing and all what you want..but is also what I could put on a vocabulary under the voice "redundancy"..that, as I already said, is something I really don't like/understand on a golf course, in every form...at least if it is used for a tournament. It screams "fictional" on every inch. But, above this, what I really don't like about this course is that, when a course is hard to play, then i believe strongly in the need of some risk&reward policy. But here there's not reward. Never. Only in the hole 16 (the driveable par 4). Then there are only risks. A lot, of risks. The goal is just to survive. So the round is all not about playing an hard course and to play it just the best you can..but soon or later you'll see it became a matter of luck, cause a bad bounce in the wrong place can be enough to ruin your tournament. This is not exactly about golf, but is more about a gymkana between trees, elevation changes, out of bounds, trees again, sloppy little greens (and some of them, with very fast speed are actually ridiculously sloppy, considering the mix of pin position, natural slopes of the green and distance from which you are often forced to approach to the green), fairway bunkers and..i already said trees? Are missing just a pair of bear traps, zombies, Richard Nixon..and some alien who abducts me while i putt and I think the fun it could be complete I understand that for someone it can be a great fun, but is not for me. I mean..it can be fun for a pair of rounds, then for me is just annoying. In some way is similar with the revenge of Kong Island, a course with also lot of trees, water etc..but I like a lot Kong Island cause the main difference is that on that course, the risk&reward stuff it works almost perfectly on every hole. Here I can't see it. Anyway..Matter of tastes..nothing terrible. Of course..i'll try to do my best as always..but is hard to spend time studying properly a course when you don't like it. Well..we'll see. Good luck as always, guys.

-9 round 1 and that includes 2 of the stupdest bogies you will ever see and a par on an easy Par 5. Missed a few short birdie putts too. Eagled the short Par 4 to even some of that up a bit :-) good luck to all. Expecting Round 2 with the high winds to be much tougher. Great course.

-26 (-3, -6, -9, -8) for me, with a first round where everything that could go wrong went wrong. Out of bounds, stuck behind a tree, you name it. The course was fun though, but I'm with ezzinomilonga on that point about the course screaming "fictional" on every inch. Usually I'm not that much into courses that are trying too hard to be challenging, but this one was, at least in my view, below the threshold and hence not that annoying. Maybe the fact that it is designed in my favorite theme helped, though. Also, I'm a big fan of that uphill par 5 where I had to draw and fade to get to the hole in 2 shots. Anyway, with -26 I'll probably be middle of the pack again. That's ok. I'm patient. Good luck

So my first practice round ended with a -5. I'm still playing with the same clubs used at Raynor Ridge..is unbelievable how much I like this choice to use just a 2w, then only irons (from the 3 and so go on. Erroneously, in the last post about my club choice I claimed that in my bag there was an hybrid 5 or 2..but I was wrong). Obviously..to make work properly this choice, is required to have par 3s not too long..and to understand before If that uncovered distance of 40 meters between my 2w and my 3I can be a serious issue on some approach or not..but it seems can be a problem only in one hole..and with the proper strategy I ahould deal with it. And to have the chance to cover all those medium/long distances is a real good thing, I love it! I have also to say that, on this game, before to play at Raynor Ridge I never used an iron longer than the 4..normally I always preferred the corresponding hybrids, but especially against the wind, i can cover bigger distances with irons..but the truth is that I need to study still a lot about the differences between those two kind of clubs. So..well..now I'm excited to see how good or bad I'll play on a course I don't like too much. The challenge, after all, is to be professional enough to play well and with the same focus..just everywhere. Is a good chance to test me on these situations. Again..good luck guys! See ya later on the course
