Dolphin Bay GC - DeltaYesterday I ran a Twitter poll asking you to guess what theme my next course was... and the correct answer was Delta! This course has a rather odd layout; the front nine is a Par 33 with three par 3s and no par 5s, while the back nine is a Par 37 with two par 5s and one par 3. This will be my first par 70 course, as well as my first course built from scratch in TGC19! Currently I have three holes in as well as some basic planting ideas: Par 3 7th Par 4 8th Par 4 9th So far I’m really liking the kind of rugged, wasteland style I’m working with so far! My main concern right now is that the fairways might be too bumpy. I want them to be rugged, but I also don’t want them to be unfair or completely ugly, so I’ll see how it plays out. Anyways, I’m having the most fun designing I’ve had in a looooong time!

Updated look at 8 after doing some wasteland thanks to tips from welikeitroughnc & bspetty24... loving the look so far and plan to do it all around the course! Also got stuff done on Holes 6 and 10, but I have to keep some things secret till release, right?

Winding HollowThe other project you may have noticed in the OP is an RCR using LiDAR. While I'm holding off on many Ohio LiDAR projects in anticipation of the release of the 2019 info, this course closed after the 2014 season, so I have no idea what they're doing with the land now. This one's been sitting untouched in the designer for quite a while, but I'm finally getting around to working on it. Keep in mind that other than adding the lake on 12 and doing multi-tee/multi-pin stuff, this is pretty much 100% untouched, so excuse the messiness. Par 4 2nd (for those of you unfamiliar with TGC Golf Tools, the mulch represents water before I add in the water tables) Par 3 5th Par 5 8th (will be a par 4 in the tour version) Par 5 18th Things to do: Redo bunkers Flatten tee boxes Plant trees (plan on using google earth to get accurate tree locations as this plot was imported before adding trees from lidar was a feature) Cleanup Sounds like a lot, but comparing to how long the OSM mapping took, I'm probably over halfway done. Also, there will be three versions of the course Winding Hollow - the main course Winding Hollow (Summer) - the main course but switched to rustic. The original is in Autumn as I think the colors look really good on this course, but I also played it much more in summer, so why not? Winding Hollow (Tour) - will be based on the summer version, but I'll redo all of the greens, keeping their general contouring but making them more friendly for multi-pinning. It'll be a par 71 (8 will be a 494 par 4) and I'll also add another set of tees to lengthen it It's quite an ambitious project for me, but this was one of my favorite courses back when it was open, so I feel I care enough about it to get it done!* *Famous last words

Good God, the second I put that bridge in I got a HUGE hit of nostalgia... crazy that it's been almost 5 years since this course closed. It's kinda surreal... 18 looks awesome as well Excluding trees and the clubhouse, this looks essentially identical to the original course. I've said it many times before, but many of us never thought this level of accuracy and detail would be possible, but chadgolf 's TGC Golf Tools has made that happen, and we're all so grateful for it! Anyways, a lot of progress has been made since those pictures were taken, and I already have a lot of the course filled with trees, accurately placed using some Google Earth triangulation. I'll post an updated aerial view of the course once I have more of that filled out!

I swear, these trees are still less densely packed than they were IRL... I went ahead and switched to Rustic, and I'm glad I did before I got too many trees planted, because contrary to what I believed, the trees do NOT match between Rustic and Autumn as they do with Countryside and Harvest or Boreal and Winter... although I would've loved to have an Autumn version as the tree colors really make this course "pop," this'll save me a ton of pain down the line. Course entry modeled after this picture: Far from perfect, but I'm still pretty happy with it. Also, another look at 18: Aiming to get this out by the end of the month, but I also don't want to rush it, so we'll see how it goes.

Well... I’m in that mode again where I start a project, get a couple holes in, and abandon it lol. Dolphin Bay and Winding Hollow are still being worked on, but at the same time I have so many ideas and not enough patience to pull them off lol. Among the started-then-scrapped courses...
University Club (dropped out of this one)
Millineal Park GC (I was too lazy to work on this one)
Harambe Zoo GC (it got shot down)
Jokes aside, I do have ideas for a University Course, a course set in a Park in a city, and a course next to a Zoo. All kind of “out there” ideas, but I’m really looking to try some new stuff! I may even put a twitter poll up to see what people want, so if you follow me there, keep an eye out for that.

While you wait for me to plant approximately 7,000 trees (please send help), here's a teaser of hole 4. Because it's such a wooded course, a lot of it will be in the shadows, but the tightness of the holes was part of the challenge IRL. This picture is actually already a week old, and since then I've hit 50% on the plant meter... With over half of the course left to plant. Yeah, the lidar took up a good 25%, but it's still gonna be difficult to do everything I want to.

Hi. I have no idea if this project is going anywhere, but I finally decided to do some mass-planted grass and I love the look. The thing with this course is I'm not sure I have a direction for it... first, it was supposed to be a municipal course, then it turned into a park/nature reserve, and now it's some kind of abandoned quarry... hopefully I'll figure it out, though. I'm a little rusty in the designer since I haven't touched this game in 10 months, but I'll find rhythm again and hopefully 2K21 will spark some new inspiration. Where have I been for the last 10 months? Well... I was overworking myself in the game and got to a point where I just totally lost any desire to play this game. I really love this community, so I try to give back, but sometimes I just take on too many responsibilities and burn myself out. I've burnt out before, but this is the worst it's ever been. Now that I'm missing out on golf due to the global pandemic, I'm back. I want to help out when things are needed, but I don't want to make long-term commitments like rangering or judging just to disappear, since it seems that always happens. Regardless, it's good to be back, and hopefully I'll have new stuff for you guys to play once 2K21 comes out!

Overhead view of what will eventually be the 12th green: It's kind of a quirky hole, but that was 100% intentional. The autogenned terrain was really generous to me and gave me a vision for the bunkers, and eventually it turned into a cool "handprint" looking green complex. Anyways, I'm happy to say I have some sense of direction on this one! A day at the golf course IRL certainly couldn't have hurt... this course isn't explicitly based on one particular course, but takes a lot of inspiration from a bunch of different Midwestern courses. The first couple of holes I designed give me big Merion vibes, and the 14th is very similar to the 13th at my local club, Heritage. A lot of my previous courses take slight inspiration from real courses, but not that much. I think looking at more real life courses for ideas has helped me create a more realistic and overall more solid course so far, and hopefully that continues! I'm probably going to hold off on updating this thread for a bit, but hopefully I can get this out right before 2K21 comes out, and if not, it should be close to complete! ...assuming the inspiration keeps flowing, which knowing me, it won't

I'm not a template hole enthusiast like a lot of people here seem to be, but I'm still pretty happy with this (yet to be planted) Reverse Redan on the Par 3 15th! Pin 3 in the front left, though... definitely gonna be one of the toughest on the course!

Progress on The Quarry Club has been coming along nicely, but my main focus this week has been Winding Hollow. And... it's done! I haven't published Winding Hollow yet as I want to finish the tour version first, but it shouldn't take too long... here's one last teaser!
