"Thank god I'm not on PGA so I don't have to read these threads every week, you guys don't do anything but talk sh%$, complain, and bicker like children. Some of you really need to get a life..."
...
"So, what's this flicking thing then? Please explain, in detail, or if you don't want to, then don't speak at all."

When I was 6 I had this little handheld bowling game. In that game I learned that if you held down 3 of the buttons at the same time and rolled the ball you would get a strike almost every time. It was a glitch with the game that was a loophole to throw a perfect ball. This made me happy because I was 6 and without using the glitch I sucked at the game.
In seriousness though "flicking" is not a "style" of how you play the game... it's not intended to be a technique you can use. It's a flaw in the game that really shouldn't be there. I hope at some point HB makes the swing mechanic so that the golfer shanks the ball if the swing is not completed. That would be more realistic.
C'mon guys as the best players in the world at this game you shouldn't need to shortcut the system. You PGA guys are clearly experts of calculating the conditions and reading putts and making them. Why not just play the game as it's designed to be played?
I hate myself for participating in this thread. I'm just bored and wanted to type something LOL. Good entertainment here!

“This made me happy because I was 6 and without using the glitch I sucked at the game.”
This sentence made me laugh.

“This made me happy because I was 6 and without using the glitch I sucked at the game.” This sentence made me laugh. HA I hope no one thinks I was trying to offend anyone by saying this. I was just trying to add some humor. Obviously a golf sim game has way more variables than a little pixely handheld bowling game.

Just given the context of your story it was a funny sentence, and we've all been there in various games. So now we cue the "But you can't enforce it!" or the "How I've always played!" clapbacks... To which the response is that it's completely missing the point. When playing an uber competitive golf game and an unquestionable advantageous flaw has been exposed, why diminish your own standing in the community by using it? And that doesn't even mention the API aspect. We're all fairly intelligent here...

Got to -20. Proud of my final 2 rounds, especially the 4th, since I decided -6 was my goal so that I could get to -20, and it was a grind to get there. Had 2 putts that were something in the range of 7-12ft, downhill by at least 3-5in, that I just breathed on, then watched roll some 30+ft past the hole. Thankfully, I was able to drain the bomb par putts, which was what really made the difference. I don't think I really ever had a chance on this course, but if I did, it went out the window in that rage-inducing 2nd round. All in all, though, I'm not entirely displeased with my performance, and happy to move on from here. I realize traditional US Open's try to keep scores towards par, but for me, this wasn't an incredibly fun/enjoyable experience, which is the core reason why I like playing this game/tour. It's just 1 week, and I'm not whining that I was wronged or anything, so please don't take this as more than what it is - just voicing a personal opinion. I'm well aware that there have been plenty others say they love it, which is genuinely great to hear! The tour certainly shouldn't cater to any one player's likes/dislikes, so I completely understand the selection. That said, I just felt like so many good shots weren't rewarded (or were even punished at times), some of the mounding/sloping in fairways created some incredibly unlucky bounces, multiple times per round, and it seemed like 90% of pins were on a domed out section, surrounded by yellow/red, with the pin dead on the top of the slope. Honestly, there's a big part of me that thinks I'm just completely missing something around this course. I've tried to play to spots on the green instead of going at pins, laid back on some drives instead of bombing it down, I mean...feels like I've tried about every conceivable strategy, but it's almost like the course is speaking a language I don't understand, and something is just flying right over my head. So in a weird, way, I suppose, kudos Dario, you've stumped me! Again, just my 2cents since this is a discussion thread on the topic, but I'm not slamming the course nor it's selection in the least - just expressing a personal perspective, fwiw. Congrats to you guys at the top, some seriously awesome play to get to where you are, and best of luck to those left to finish!

I don't think there is anything to figure out Justin, I think you nailed it with this course. It's VERY punishing, but there are ways around everything. By the way, -20 on this course is FANTASTIC!! Great shooting I'm aware of some of the bounces and pins being in places you just can't get too within 20 to 30 feet...but that's just it...The beauty of this course is you play to get within 30 feet or so on most holes, and par is equivalent to a birdie on many holes here. There are some pins in every round where you can "go for it" that's where the birdies are to be had. Then there are the holes you get within 20 feet and that's where the putts have to drop once in a while. I'm not saying I haven't yelled at the TV a couple times after what I thought was a good drive, but even the light rough is a large enough area where you can still get to the green and save par, sometimes even go for birdie. It's just very demanding, but I think if most people playing go for par they would "get" the course. It's definitely the biggest challenge I've ever had in this game. I feel as if it's made me a better player this week...if that makes any sense.

I'm with you, Justin. This course just destroyed me. I think I have gotten used to getting into trouble and at least being able to give myself a reasonable chance to save par but on this course, I would be just off the green and during practice would make a chip, have it roll 30 feet past the hole. I would take an unplayable lie and try again. Simply put, there were some shots that no matter what I did or how well I thought I hit it, if the ball didn't hit the pin it was gone and you know something? That is okay. Frustrating, but okay because that is how it is supposed to be, especially on US Open courses. This is course management and I'm good with that. I'm also with you that there were just too many times that you hit what you think is the perfect shot, only to have it roll to just outside of one grid to the pin and have it turn around and roll back 30 feet. The area to hold the ball on the same tier as the pin was extremely small on some holes. Some putts were the same way, if it didn't go in and rolled even 6 inches past, it was a slow 40 second trickle to the end of the green. I 3 or 4 putted a couple time from under 6 feet and that just burns. I blame myself in the end. My mindset was to pick some holes and be aggressive and I paid the price. If we played courses like this every week I'd probably throw in the towel because there comes a point when it is too much. For one tournament, a major that is supposed to be the toughest test. Fine. I got destroyed. FYI I played 2 rounds with angle snapping on, so 100% straight shots, a setting that would get auto pulled from the API just to see what I could do. -3 on round 1 and E on Round 3. So even with that advantage this course still killed me.

Great course. Kicked my butt. Changed my swing after a break from playing, and now I forget how to do the other things like wind calculating, putt, etc. on top of fighting this new swing?!?! I would've thought you can't forget that stuff, but apparently I did. Will it be a normal backswing or a slow? Will it be a regular downswing or a fast? I don't know any more. I'll try to make the cut next week. That's my goal now.
