This week on the web we welcome @gforce41to our family of web.com designers with his wonderful The Rawhide at Santa Ynez. This course has been built on the land where the famous Clint Eastwood tv show Rawhide was filmed. The ground staff have done their best to clean up years of cow shite but there is a chance that some have been missed, especially in the heavy rough areas of the course so do watch your step. Rumors that part of the course has been built on a ancient Indian burial ground are completely unfounded and any strange occurrences that have happened can be explained by rational reasoning, like ermmm it was teenagers, yes teenagers that’s it. Looking at the weather forecast over the next few days, we are facing perfect weather for golf with no high winds in the forecast, allowing plenty of scoring chances but to have this chances, course management is a must. As everyone one knows, the song Rawhide is the unofficial anthem of the web.com anyone playing this week is required to sing it at least once per round or they will face disqualification. To get everyone in the mood, I will show a never seen before clip from last years web.com Christmas party in which the song was song. See if you can spot your favorite web player in the clip, good luck everyone and have fun.

On a side note, I want to thank gregfordyce and NobleMan of the tgctours review show for bringing this course to my attention. In case you don’t know, Greg and Kent host a course review show twice a week, showcasing new courses by community members here on tgctours. Look, I know they are a bit uncouth, come across a little bit loud and smell a bit but they do do a good job. Sure the fees they charge designers to have a course featured on the show could be considered extortion but I am sure they have expenses to. And yes, maybe threats to give courses a not approved rating unless those fee are not paid on time could be considered blackmail but who does not take advantage of desperate innocent designers from time to time. Funny, story, gforce41 when he submitted Rawhide to the show, refused to pay the deposit. He woke up one morning the find the head of his driver in his bed with him, you should have seen the look on his face and his screams could be heard across the entire golf course. Oh those wacky tgctours review guys. Anyway, tune in, you might find your new favorite course and a offer you can not refuse.

Should be happy with - 8 round 1. Putting made about 80% of that score. Driving and approaches were under par and so I missed way too much fairways but managed to save par every time. So I got away with it now but next round has to be better.
Good fun course with tight fairways and lots of ondulations

I think I'll be taking the DNS this week*- between the US Open Q, and our society just played here (Rawhide overload).
*a work sick day may change my mind.

Not liking the course is fine, hating the setup, also fine, explaining why would be better. Someone spent many hours creating this course, others spent time play testing the course, constructive criticism is always welcome by all involved but snide remarks like this is disrespectful to all the people that give up their time to create courses, to put these tours together for others to play on. No one is going to like every course, no one is going to enjoy every setup, it is impossible to have every week perfect for everyone. It just saddens me when people’s efforts are treated with such disdain.

It just saddens me when people’s efforts are treated with such disdain. I know, I know I’m just venting my spleen. It’s nothing to do with the course per se. I just felt that my good shots went unrewarded and every missed edge of the hole was more down to the course than me. I know it’s not. It is all down to my shocking play. I prefer the tough courses with sub -30 scores but this one just pushed my buttons. Carry on the amazing job you doing Dan, and your defending of course designers is a credit.

Thanks for your honesty and I understand bad days. If you like tougher courses, I added Blue River Dunes to the schedule tonight, my final play through 16 over. If you miss the fairways your screwed, bad course management, your screwed, approach shots off, your screwed, what a fun week that will be.

I wasn't being disrespectful to the designer- I have about 8 rounds on this course in the past 3 weeks, and I have rawhide burnout. there's no way I'll be able to focus for 72 more holes.

-6 -5 -9 -5 -25 total
I was -11 on holes 1-4 this week and -14 on the rest...had hot starts the first 3 rounds going -3, -4, and -4 through the opening 4 holes and just could not do much on the rest of the course. I actually liked this course a lot and just thankful no high winds on these greens would have really been unbearable. Not sure -11 will make the cut but felt close enough i should just play all 4 rounds anyway.

Started rd 1 well with an eagle on the 1st, turned at -8 and was -9 after 10; then a few poor shots later finished with a 65 (-7) . Second rd pretty up and down for a 66 (-6) to be -13 at the cut; hopefully safe for the weekend, will see later in the week. Course and conditions (at least rd's 1& 2) fine. Good luck to those yet to play / finish.
