chadgolf or anyone else....do you know of a way to keep the autogen trees and such in certain areas? I'd love to use this instsancing on a course where there are a ton of trees, but of course in some areas it puts them where I don't want them (RCR) and then can't get rid of them. I'll admit I worked in TGC1 designer a ton...but never really touched 2019 designer until the Lidar tool was introduced. Once again, thank you ChadGolf, what a great tool.

Are these the lidar trees or actual autogenerated trees? I personally turn all autogenerated clutter to zero unless I REALLY need it because of resource bar restrictions.
Lidar trees will respect the red mask with terrain, so they'll only populate in the "playable" areas of your course - which is probably where they are important ant needed anyway.

Yea I'm the same way, but with the resource meter being a bit higher than normal, I was hoping to use the autogen a bit more in some places. The game certainly doesn't place trees in fairways... But at my first attempt it was still placing trees on holes in places I didn't want them. So I was thinking maybe there is a way to paint/brush in a surface (maybe rough, or heavy rough) and the autogen would not put trees/plants there.
Thoughts?

Yes, there’s a brush that exists solely to clear autogens.

To clarify further now that I have the designer next to me:
Edit -> Sculpt Land -> Clear Generated Trees and Clear Generated Objects
THESE DO NOT AFFECT LIDAR TREES.
Clear Generated Trees will remove random autogenerated trees wherever you brush. By default they are not shown above ANY spline.
Clear Generated Objects will remove all random autogenerated trees, plants, grass, and rocks as above. Just paint in where you DO NOT want them and they are gone.

For more random trees, click the add tree variety checbox too. No OSM required.

I’m also having trouble with the water areas. I have them mapped on OSM and labeled as ponds, lakes..as needed. I made sure that I didn’t have the box checked to remove under blue ( or whatever that box says). I also double checked that I had import water. It does not show on the height map and is not importing over into the designer. I seem to remember the files you helped me with a few months ago worked and when it went into the designer, all the water area were there as huge depressions that only need to have the water added in the designer.

OK...so I clicked all the boxes ran the height map, exported and when I open the game and try to edit course I get: ERROR An unknown network error has occured. Please try again later. Error Code: HB-RS [1702] you ever seen that before?

There is barely a visible outline of any lakes or ponds.
