Hey all, I had the privilege of playing the Country Club of New Bedford, an almost100+ year old private course, on Saturday. A very unique course, it was originally 9 holes and expanded and redone by Willie Park Jr in 1922. Some people confuse this with a Donald Ross, according to the website, he was consulted in 1917 to redo the course, but they believe he declined due to "acreage constraints". After the war they acquired 38 more acres, and Willie did his thing. Never seen a layout like this...one par 5 and only 3 par 3's! Remember that one when someone criticizes your course for not being the standard 72, "10/4/4"! Here are a couple of pics: The par 3 15th, slightly "volcano"-ish might have been my favorite even playing at only 125yds. Yours truly missed to the right and had a tricky up and down (which of course I didn't make and took a 3 putt 5!) The pretty approach to the shortish par 4 13th, missed to the right, another tap in bogey!
